ust as he stepped outside, he felt another presence watching him.

Bianca’s magic.

She was tracking him.

Liam smirked to himself but didn’t call her out on it.

If they were this concerned, then he really needed to watch his back today.

When Liam arrived at the eting spot, Seraphina and Zane were already waiting for him.

Zane stretched his arms above his head, yawning lazily.

"Took you long enough. We were about to leave you behind."

Seraphina rolled her eyes.

"No, we weren’t. Don’t listen to him, Liam. Zane is just cranky because he did not get enough sleep."

Liam crossed his arms.

"You two seem oddly relaxed for a group that’s supposed to be investigating sothing potentially dangerous."

Seraphina smirked.

"Worried?"

Zane grinned.

"Relax, Liam. Investigations are best done with a full stomach. Let’s go eat first."

Liam sighed. He had a bad feeling about this, but before he could protest, they were already dragging him toward a nearby café.

The café they chose was a cozy, quiet place with a warm atmosphere. The sll of fresh pastries filled the air, and the soft hum of conversation made it an ideal eting spot.

Liam sat down, watching as Seraphina and Zane ordered without hesitation.

Asger, still perched on Liam’s shoulder, grumbled.

"They act like they have no worries in the world. Suspicious."

Liam had to agree. Thankfully, no one was able to hear Asger when he spoke...or notice him either. The magic Liam casted on the familiar made him all but invisible from human eyes unless soone really paid attention to him.

Once their food arrived, Zane leaned forward, his tone casual.

"So, Liam, you ntioned the shadowy entity thing yesterday. Any particular reason that topic caught your attention?"

Liam didn’t react. He had expected this.

They were testing him.

He leaned back, feigning nonchalance.

"It seed like the most interesting one."

Seraphina studied him carefully before smirking.

"Fair enough."

She didn’t believe him.

Liam’s instincts scread that these two weren’t just ordinary students. They knew sothing. And just like Elder Erin and Bianca, they were hiding it.

But why?

Liam took a bite of his food and kept his suspicions to himself.

For now.

As they left the café, Zane stretched, his mismatched eyes twinkling.

"Alright! Ti to investigate!"

Seraphina glanced at Liam. "There’s been a reported sighting near the old library. That’s where we’re headed first."

Liam nodded.

"Fine."

The old library was on the outskirts of the academy’s grounds. It had been abandoned for years, and most students avoided it due to rumors of ghosts and strange happenings.

When they arrived, the place felt... wrong.

The air was heavy, thick with sothing unnatural.

Liam felt it imdiately—the sa eerie energy he had sensed when Bianca’s entity had tried to escape.

Sothing was here.

Seraphina and Zane felt it too.

Their expressions were no longer carefree. They were serious now, focused.

Zane took a step forward.

"We’re not alone."

The mont he said that, the shadows in the library shifted.

And then, sothing moved.

A dark, shapeless figure erged from the depths of the building.

A shadowy entity.

Just like the one from Bianca’s room.

Liam’s stomach twisted.

"This isn’t just so school project."

Seraphina’s golden eyes glead as she pulled out a dagger infused with magic.

"No. It’s not."

Zane grinned, his aura flaring.

"Now it’s getting fun."

Liam clenched his fists, his magic already swirling around him.

Whatever was happening here, it wasn’t just so academy assignnt.

And he was about to find out just how deep this mystery went.

Unfortunately, the entity was unstable and it took itself out before anyone could capture it. It caused the pair standing in front of Liam to moan in annoyance as they lost their lead once more.

After that sighting, more were not seen and the day ended just like that. It was getting dark and Liam wanted to head back, but his teammates had other ideas.

Zane seed especially insistent for them to stay back and check out more stuff. It was beginning to get suspicious, but he was not sure if he was reading too much into sothing.

Liam wasn’t sure if this was a trap or just another one of Zane’s reckless ideas.

The night was settling in, and while he had originally planned to return ho, Zane’s insistence on staying out longer made him wary.

"There have been more sightings at night. If we leave now, we might miss sothing big. I don’t want to miss any potential surprises."

Zane repeated, stretching his arms behind his head. He had made up his mind about it, but he was not the only one.

Seraphina leaned in, her golden eyes gleaming mischievously.

"Co on, Liam. You’re not scared, are you?"

Liam didn’t react to her taunt. He wasn’t falling for sothing that childish. But it was obvious that both of them wanted him to stay—wanted to keep him here.

That was the part that made him uneasy.

"What do you think, Asger? Should I take this chance?"

Liam murmured, asking the half-dragon for opinion.

He already knew what he needed to do in his heart, but he still wanted a second opinion so that he could pin the bla on soone else when the ti ca.

The small lizard familiar flicked his tail and whispered into Liam’s mind.

"Stay. Bianca’s presence is back. She’s watching us again. That ans sothing’s up."

That sealed it. Asger’s words gave him the fuel he needed in order to stay back and deal with these people.

Liam exhaled and gave a small shrug.

"Fine. But if this turns out to be a waste of ti, you’re both paying for my breakfast tomorrow."

Zane grinned, his eyes lighting up with joy. It seed genuine and horrifying at the sa ti. It made Liam fear that he had made a mistake.

But it was too late to back down. He had made his choice.

"Good! This settles it. We are going to stay the night out."
