Against his protest Isabella took his entire pack of chips and ate it Infront of him. All he could do is watch.

Had it been anybody else, he would've killed them for that but Isabella was his assistant and oldest living granddaughter.

rlin only had three children in his life and and a single wife, all four of whom had passed away leaving his grandchildren.

One of those grandchildren was Viona's mother who was born to a man from the royal family, one of the princes.

After finishing the chips she looked at him like she was expecting more. He shook his head.

" I have none left I promise." She gave him a scrutinizing look.

" Where did you get this old man? I don't think anything like this had ever been created in the empire."

rlin grinned, " You wanna know, you really wanna know?" He stroked his beard and did not tell her.

Isabella grew mad, her adept level power shook the entire room as lightning flickered in her eyes.

" Tell right now old man before I destroy your office." She threatened with lightning flickering all over her body.

rlin sighed, " Fine, but you might find this hard to believe." He narrated everything he experienced to her.

The more he talked the more surprised and skeptical she got, when he finished she shook her head.

" You do see how that would be hard to believe right, plus you said little V is still alive, that's impossible.

There's no way that old scrawny bitch would let her live." Her face contorted with disgust when she thought of sobody.

" I can prove it." rlin took out the radio com and pressed the red button just as Khali told her.

The radio connected after a few seconds, " Khali boy, it's the handso rlin."

The voice on the other hand was quiet for a few seconds. " Hello, can you hear , you're embarrassing Infront of my granddaughter Khali boy don't do this."

The old man sounded pitiful, a voice replied from the other side. " Forgive sir rlin,I have called sir Khali and he told to tell you he's currently busy.

If you need anything leave a ssage." rlin grew quiet not knowing what to say, he had never been dismissed like this in a thousand years.

" Excuse ? Brat go call that Khali boy right now, how dare he ignore the mighty rlin, what is he so busy with anyways?"

Isabella on the side couldn't hold her giggle, hearing sobody treat her grandpa like this was refreshing.

" He's working on the blueprints of the space vessel sir." The voice replied professionally.

rlin grew quiet, " Oh it's fine then tell him I called when he cos back."

" Will do sir." The radio was about to cut off from the other side.

" Wait." rlin called out, " Go called Viona, tell her grandpa is calling."

The other side was quiet, " I can't sir." The man replied flatly.

rlin www confused, " Why, is she busy too? That's my Viona, always doing sothing productive."

There was no reply for a few seconds as it the other party was hesitating. " She's having a drinking contest sir."

Isabella was confused, the only thing drinkable she knew of was water, she didn't understand why anybody would be having a drinking contest.

They just sounded like a waste of water but rlin knew. He had seen and even tried alcohol while he was there.

It tasted terrible and apparently could get you drunk which impedes your thinking ability.

He didn't understand why anybody would even drink that thing. " Not important then, go call her."

" No." The other party rejected him which caught both he and Isabella by surprise, Isabella couldn't hold back her laughter.

This day was just too great, she just ate the most delicious thing she had ever had and now she heard children defy her grandfather.

One of the two strongest people in the empire. She waited to hear the reason why he was rejected so quickly.

She decided to ask, the other person seed to be surprised by her question.

" I'm scared, nobody disturbs the demon of fire and sleep peacefully, even with the God of dreams around, she will still plague your nightmares."

He answered like that was common knowledge which it was, it was known that only one person can subdue that monster.

Only because he was a bigger monster himself. rlin sighed," Fine, don't call her, tell her I said high though."

He cut off the radio which Isabella snatched off his hands. She inspected it like she was a detective.

She cast a spell but looked even more confused after. " This isn't a magical artefact."

She looked at her grandfather with confusion. rlin sighed. " I told you, wonderful isn't it."

Isabella nodded, " How does it work?" She asked, she seed even more curious than her grandfather.

rlin shrugged, " Don't ask , that Khali boy and Lucy lad said sothing about radio waves."

She had no idea what he was talking about but now she was just eager to et these people.

She wanted to know how they built sothing so incredible without using magic.

It was inconceivable to her. rlin promised she will go there. He told her Khali's plans, all of them.

She frowned, " This will definitely spark a conflict with those greedy bastards." She cursed under her breath.

rlin nodded, " Don't underestimate those children though, they are dangerous, given ti they can build sothing far greater than this empire."

Isabella found that hard to believe, the empire was old and strong. It had survived in this dying world for thousands of years.

She doubted a few children could create sothing greater in only a few years, that made absolutely zero sense to her.

" So what should I do?" She asked her grandfather with anticipation.

" Take your younger brother, gather as many willing mortals in our domain as possible without arousing any suspicions from them.

In two weeks the boy will co get you, you won't be able to co back for a few years, perhaps ever, make sure to make that clear so people can bring their families if need be.

Oh, also being that troubleso boy, he's been cooped up for far too long, I also think he might like to see his younger sister."

Isabella spent the next week with her little brother doing just that, she found 15 thousands mortals.

7 thousand workers and the rest were their family mbers. It was ti to choose the mages who will join them.

Deploying mages required the agreent of the council, rlin knew those stuck up bastards would never agree.

They would probably suggest taking over that place but he knew doing so would be foolish.

That boy Khali didn't look like the type who would bow to others aning of they anger him.

The chances of leaving this world would drop to zero again, he couldn't allow that. So instead of deploynt he recruited.

Those who choose to go would no longer be mbers of the Strix Tower of Magic. Of course he explained secretly to those he recruited.

To the public those mages would've quit working for the tower, the reason for that was not explained.

" A hundred, a hundred mages just quit." A fat man adorned in jewelry banged his hand on the table.

Infront of his was a plate of at and he would occasionally reach out to grab a piece.

He was sitting around a round table, there were others sitting with him including Isabella.

She was not just the assistant of rlin but also a mber of the council, one of the strongest mages in the empire.

" What do want us to do about it?" She too took a piece of at but it tasted bland, after eating at with spices this one tasted terrible.

She pushed the plate forward with disgust which confused the others, they knew she was a foodie.

" Perhaps we should enquire why they quit, there must be a reason." A skinny middle aged man with a blank face suggested.

rlin laughed, his chair was above the others, " Why? We all know why they quit."

Everybody turned and looked at him, they frowned except for a few who looked amused.

" Why would anybody want to stay in a place with leaches such as yourselves. You've turned this tower into your place of politics.

You think I do not know so of you have been dealing with the empire in the shadows?"

rlin looked at them with a cold face but these old snakes were sly, their expressions did not change.

" Let them go, you are not to bother them." He ordered with a stern voice. The mages below did not reply.

After that eting they left, as true mages they can stand under the sun for a few hours without issue.

So they had this eting during the day when others won't be able to eavesdrop. rlin and Isabella returned to his office.

" Do you think they will try sothing?" Isabella asked. rlin smiled at her.

" Of course they will, quitting while working under them is challenging they pride, they will naturally want to make those children pay."

Isabella frowned, " What should be we do then?" rlin leaned on his chair and cracked the shell of a boiled scorpion.

" Remind them who I am." He answered with a dangerous smile.
