At the mont, Renee should have already seen the news.
She is probably already the laughing stock of the entire Kybourne.
How can she possibly establish herself in Kybourne anymore?
This is all Annelise’s fault!
Sylvia’s eyes were bloodshot, like a trapped beast cornered.
She took out a fruit knife from her bag, her usual anti-wolf weapon.
She charged at Annelise.
"Die! Annelise, if I can’t have it, neither can you!"
Sylvia raised the dagger, fiercely stabbing towards Annelise’s heart.
Annelise was shocked and didn’t react in ti.
The gleaming dagger headed straight for Annelise’s chest, and in the nick of ti, Elias fiercely pulled Annelise into his arms, the blade cutting his arm.
Blood imdiately seeped out.
Annelise stiffened and hid in his arms, only hearing his hoarse voice say, "Don’t be afraid, I’m here!"
With a "clang," the dagger fell to the ground.
Sylvia chuckled weakly, collapsing to the ground.
Elias was willing to risk his life for Annelise.
"Are you okay?" Elias held Annelise, looking her over to see if she was hurt.
Only after confirming Annelise wasn’t injured did he breathe a sigh of relief.
Annelise stared at the man who was a head taller than herself, feeling inexplicable emotion and guilt.
The tenderness on his face was sothing she hadn’t seen in five or six years.
Elias turned to look at Sylvia.
His eyes radiated coldness, like a demon crawling out from The Abyssal Hall.
Uncle Ford stood by, feeling like the temperature around him dropped.
"Take this crazy woman to the police station!"
"Yes, Master!"
Uncle Ford imdiately had soone take Sylvia away.
The entrance to the Civil Affairs Bureau imdiately returned to peace.
Only then did Annelise co to her senses, not expecting Sylvia would resort to murder.
Elias held Annelise’s hand, continuing to walk towards the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Annelise looked at the direction Elias was headed, stepping back a few steps.
"That’s the Civil Affairs Bureau up ahead, with Sylvia gone, why are you going?"
Elias turned back, smiling.
Annelise sensed an underlying aning in this smile.
It made her feel uneasy.
"Get married!"
Elias said.
Married?
Annelise was bewildered. What was this man up to?
Could it be he wants to marry her?
By the ti she thought about this, Elias had already handed his ID and residence booklet to the staff.
The staff were perplexed.
This...what is happening?
Wasn’t Young Master Warner supposed to marry the Lowell’s lady just now?
How co the one getting married now is...
It’s actually Warner’s goddaughter and Kybourne South Air’s ambassador, Annelise.
This is another big news.
Other staff mbers were also looking over here.
The staff mber who had just started a live broadcast hadn’t paused the live stream yet.
Currently, the marriage scene between Elias and Annelise was being stread live.
A colleague nearby reminded, "Are you crazy? You just boldly exposed the Lowell family’s scandal, and now you’re exposing Warner’s scandal?"
Scandal?
The broadcasting colleague hadn’t realized yet, before another colleague ended the broadcast.
The few people who caught the few seconds of the broadcast were frantic outside the screen now.
"Who was Young Master Warner about to marry? Why did the stream stop?"
"Yeah, yeah, who were they going to marry?"
"Damn it, isn’t this deliberately keeping us in suspense!"
"Ahhh, hurry up and tell !"
Over at the Civil Affairs Bureau
The colleague had put away the phone, even more had closed the doors of the bureau.
It’s now a private session for Elias and Annelise.
"Elias Warner, are you crazy? You want to register and marry ? No way, I don’t accept!"
Annelise was startled.
If she registered marriage with Elias, it would be even harder to leave Kybourne.
Hearing this, the bureau’s people whispered.
"Young Master Warner is probably provoked, so he’s forcing Miss Winter to marry him?"
"How can this be?"
"Although I’d love for them to be a CP, you can’t force a CP together!"
Annelise heard the chatter, feeling that Elias was indeed provoked.
"Elias Warner, are you provoked? Did Sylvia provoke you?"
Annelise felt a bit sad; does he love her that much?
Because of her, he was so provoked he’d want to marry her.
"Yes, you’re right, I urgently need to find soone to marry to avoid so trouble!" Elias glared at the working staff.
The staff was intimidated by Elias Warner’s cold gaze.
They stamped the official seal onto the certificate.
Elias Warner’s lips curled into a smile.
Only, this fleeting smile was unseen by everyone.
"Elias Warner, are you sure you want to get the certificate? Don’t you know that if you and I do this, everything will beco incredibly complicated?"
"We..." Annelise continued.
Elias turned around abruptly and covered Annelise’s mouth to stop her from speaking.
"I know what you want to say. You want to say that your past rumors with Chase Perry will resurface, and people will use them to target ? Or perhaps you want to say that your unwed pregnancy and having Chase Perry’s child will cause trouble? Hmm?"
In Elias’s eyes were emotions Annelise couldn’t discern.
Is he?
Is this indifference?
Or?
Why?
If he knows these things will bring him so much trouble, why does he still want to get the certificate with her?
Annelise’s eyes reddened.
Even though Elias looked unbothered on the outside, his heart was already in turmoil.
Just now, ntioning Annelise’s past with Chase Perry felt suffocatingly painful.
Each ntion was a stab.
Seeing Annelise’s reddened eyes, Elias imdiately averted his gaze.
Could it be that marrying him felt so humiliating for her?
"Let’s go, there’s still a lot to handle at the company!"
Elias took the certificate and directly led Annelise out of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
"But you haven’t answered my question yet!" Annelise still didn’t understand why Elias suddenly chose to get the certificate with her.
"I said I need a married status, conveniently, there’s no other woman around , and you’re rely a shield. Don’t overthink it, but there’s one thing I must clarify, legally you’re now my wife, so when you do things, it’s best to report to , and keep a certain distance from other n!"
From Elias’s list of demands, Annelise thought that if she were a normal wife, fulfilling these requests wouldn’t be excessive.
But him making such demands likely ant he had long been disappointed in her.
Otherwise, why would he assu she would easily engage with other n?
Just now, at the mont of getting the certificate, her heart nearly leaped out.
In that brief mont, she seed to be back five years ago, to what she most wanted to do deep down.
Which was recklessly using her family’s household registration to get the marriage certificate with this man and beco his legal wife.
Now she’s awakened.
Elias rely lacked a nominal marriage partner.
It could be her, or soone else.
Sitting in the car, Annelise was still imrsed in these thoughts.
Yet getting the certificate with Elias today was sothing she had prayed for last year, sothing she’s always dread of.
Only, there were so surprises, so disappointnts.
The surprise was that as she planned to leave Kybourne, she achieved sothing she’d imagined doing five years ago and always in her dreams.
The disappointnt was that he married her, not out of love, but because he conveniently needed a married status.
"President Warner, how long do I need to cooperate with you in this marriage? When can we dissolve it?"
To Annelise, this marriage was a nightmare.
She drowned in this nightmare, needing to wake up soon.
Elias’s hand shook slightly on the steering wheel.
Does she really not want to marry him?
Even if it’s just pretending, not real, it’s unacceptable?
What is she worried about?
Worried that Chase Perry might find out about the marriage?
Elias scoffed, "As for divorce, only I can propose it in the future, so don’t harbor any unrealistic dreams. You must follow my lead. When I say your marital status is unnecessary, you’re free to leave! Also, there’s one thing I must clarify, you’re now my wife, you have to fulfill all my needs!"
All needs?
Annelise froze, what did he an?
Does that include those kinds of needs?
She clenched her fingers tightly.
She couldn’t, couldn’t have that kind of relationship with him again, fearing she would be irrevocably consud by it.
Yet Elias didn’t explicitly ntion whether that was the case.
Should she ask him?
"Buzz buzz... buzz buzz..."
The tense atmosphere in the car was suddenly broken by the ring of a phone.
Elias looked down, it was a call from his mother Renee Perry.
He knew she must have seen the news, and was bound to call him.
"Elias, are you alright? Mom didn’t know Sylvia Lowell was that kind of woman, almost causing a grave mistake, making you marry such a scandalous girl, utterly disgraceful. Mom apologizes!"
"No need for apologies, I have things to do, we’ll talk later!"
Elias continued driving, having important matters to attend to.
"Elias, are you mad at mom? I’ll find you a better wife, one whose family and background I will thoroughly investigate before bringing her to you!"
Renee promised.
This ti she truly felt she’d wronged Elias.
Even though Elias wasn’t aware, and Sylvia Lowell is only his fiancée, the near scandal of being cuckolded would still be ridiculed behind his back.
Is her son soone who can bear losing dignity?
For any man, this would be a deeply embarrassing situation.
Today, Arthur Warner returned ho and had already lashed out at her.
Scolding her for choosing such a fiancée for their son!
The Lowell Family would not be spared!
Her son also needs to be reassured.
