"How do you know to call her Ms. Winter?"
While Annelise Winter was washing her hands, Elias Warner asked Luna.
Uh-oh? Did I slip up?
Luna chewed her food, thinking to herself, she almost forgot this was supposed to be her first ti seeing her mom at Dad’s villa.
She shouldn’t know that her mom’s surna is Winter.
"Daddy, I heard your conversation in the corridor that day, so I knew Auntie’s last na is Winter!"
Luna remained calm, showing no sign of anxiety in response to Elias Warner’s questioning.
Annelise Winter had just returned from washing her hands to eat, and her heart skipped a beat, afraid Luna’s explanation might be exposed.
But the little one turned out to be quite clever.
Elias Warner stared at Luna’s sincere, innocent little face, thinking how could a five-year-old girl possibly be lying.
Annelise Winter slowly moved to sit next to Luna.
Elias Warner observed Annelise Winter’s expression.
Annelise Winter offered Luna so soft-boiled eggs and gently encouraged her, "Luna, right? You’re very pretty, here, eat more eggs, they’re nutritious!"
Luna used a fork to place the egg in her mouth, enjoying it imnsely.
"Wow, thanks Auntie, this egg is delicious."
After praising Annelise Winter, Luna looked at Elias Warner, who had a stern expression.
Luna just thanked Annelise Winter for the eggs, but wasn’t it Elias who cooked them?
He had made several attempts to get the eggs just right...
And now all the credit went to Annelise Winter?
"Daddy? Is Ms. Winter your girlfriend?"
Luna stared at Elias Warner’s face, and Annelise Winter quickly explained, "No, no, I’m your dad’s sister, so that makes your aunt! You can call Auntie from now on!"
Annelise Winter leaned forward and pinched Luna’s white, clean little cheek.
Her heart was lting.
This was one of the few tis she got close to Luna.
Each ti, she cherished it deeply.
"Auntie, I really like you. You look as pretty as Mommy, here, Luna offers you so salmon!"
Luna used her small hand to pick up children’s chopsticks and placed the grilled salmon on Annelise Winter’s plate.
Annelise took a bite and praised, "Anything Luna puts on the plate is delicious!"
Elias Warner: ...
This was also his handiwork, wasn’t it?
It was as if Annelise Winter and Luna acted like he didn’t exist, feeding each other and occasionally pinching cheeks and requesting hugs.
Elias Warner’s face darkened instantly.
He had asked Annelise Winter to co ho from work on ti yesterday precisely because he wanted to see if Annelise Winter would be jealous upon seeing Luna.
Now it seems he worried too much.
She seed not to be jealous at all, but instead got along with Luna harmoniously.
Elias Warner paused his actions just to watch them eat and interact.
Bzzzz... bzzzz...
The ringtone of the phone interrupted the peaceful scene, and both Annelise Winter and Luna looked towards the phone.
Elias Warner snapped back to reality, seeing Annelise Winter and Luna looking at him, he imdiately answered the phone.
It was Liam Sterling calling.
"Captain Warner, did you forget about the flight to Aris today?"
Elias Warner glanced at his Patek Philippe watch and saw it was already nine in the morning.
This flight was scheduled to take off at eleven-thirty.
He had less than three hours before the scheduled flight.
He stood up, wiped his hands, and straightened his collar.
When he looked at Annelise Winter and Luna again, he saw they had resud eating breakfast, completely uninterested in his phone call.
Elias Warner glanced at Annelise Winter, clearly feeling that her attention was entirely on Luna, seemingly unconcerned about his upcoming flight.
Annelise Winter hadn’t heard.
"Hey, didn’t you hear I just got a call to fly?"
Elias Warner frowned, resting his hands on the dining table, staring at Annelise Winter.
"Huh? I didn’t hear. Are you flying?"
Annelise Winter sensed Elias Warner’s mood was off, feeling a bit unsure.
Were she and Luna too affectionate just now?
Did it arouse his suspicions?
"Co to the room with , help pack my luggage!"
Elias Warner said coldly.
"Oh," Annelise Winter replied casually.
Elias Warner turned around and headed upstairs.
Luna and Annelise Winter watched Elias Warner’s departing figure, and they high-fived.
Luna leaned towards Annelise Winter’s ear and giggled, "Mommy, how was my performance? I didn’t get found out, right? But it seems Daddy is unhappy."
"Luna was brilliant, only this way can I stay with Daddy. Daddy is upset because he has to work and can’t stay with Luna, that’s why he’s not happy!"
Annelise Winter pinched Luna’s round little cheeks.
It’s undeniable, Elias Warner took good care of Luna.
In just these few days, Luna’s face started to show so color.
"Why are you still standing there?"
Elias Warner saw Annelise Winter had not reacted to his words.
He grew even more irritable.
This woman now seed only to see Luna.
"Oh!" Annelise Winter stood up and followed.
She entered Elias Warner’s room.
Elias Warner casually closed the door.
"Still flying to Breslin this ti?" Annelise Winter wanted to confirm the route Elias Warner was flying, so she could quickly pack his luggage and, once Elias left, enjoy ti with her daughter.
If Elias Warner flew to Breslin, he would be away for several days.
That would be wonderful.
From the mont Annelise Winter entered the room, Elias Warner was watching her expression.
"You seem very happy? Is it because I’m leaving soon or because you’re having fun with my daughter?"
Elias Warner stared at Annelise Winter, but Annelise lowered her head, not daring to et his gaze, fearing he might notice sothing.
Elias Warner saw Annelise didn’t answer, and his anger reached the peak.
This woman truly had no heart.
He stepped forward, grabbed Annelise Winter’s wrist, pulled her forward, and she fell into his embrace.
His palm easily wrapped around her slender wrist.
Annelise Winter’s hand trembled slightly.
She again felt the warm breadth of Elias Warner’s palm, slowly transmitting through her wrist, warming her body.
"Elias Warner, what are you doing?"
Annelise Winter withdrew her hand and stopped looking at Elias Warner, only saying lightly, "Didn’t you ask to pack your luggage? If you don’t tell which flight you’re on, how can I prepare your clothes?"
Was she eager for him to leave?
Elias Warner shouted coldly, "Are you impatient for to go?"
Absurd!
This was the first ti Annelise Winter found a grown man could be so absurdly childish.
Wasn’t he the one who asked her to pack his luggage?
Annelise Winter turned to leave.
She took a step forward but didn’t break free from his grasp; he stretched his long leg horizontally, blocking her path.
