Annelise was pulling out her uniform slowly as she said to Chloe, "What are you talking about, Chloe? Captain Warner and I have nothing to do with each other. Never have, never will. Whether or not he’s an innocent man is none of my business!"
Chloe’s face imdiately fell.
"Chloe, what’s wrong? Why are you upset? I’m telling you the truth. I clarified my relationship with Captain Warner in front of everyone at the restaurant..."
"Cough, cough," Chloe almost spat out her water, signaling Annelise to stop talking.
At that mont, Elias Warner was standing at the office doorway.
"What’s that? Dr. Winter ntioning my na? Saying... you have nothing to do with ?"
Elias Warner enunciated each word, stepping closer to Annelise.
Annelise’s cheeks turned pale, then red, as she was forced to retreat a few steps by Elias Warner’s imposing aura.
Chloe didn’t dare to speak either.
"Is that so? Dr. Winter, you and I have nothing to do with each other?"
Elias Warner repeated the words, closing in on Annelise.
He raised his hand, reaching for the collar of Annelise’s white coat.
A little lower, and he’d see the tattoo on Annelise’s chest.
She quickly stepped back a few more steps.
Chloe imdiately rushed over, standing protectively in front of Annelise.
She thought Elias Warner was going to hold the protagonist accountable for what happened at the restaurant, after all, the protagonist had publicly stated she wasn’t interested in Elias Warner.
A man’s pride probably wouldn’t allow him to be dismissed like that in front of so many people, right?
"Captain Warner, it’s a misunderstanding, all a misunderstanding. Annelise actually likes Captain Warner quite a bit, but isn’t it true Captain Warner already has a family? So... haha..."
Chloe gave Elias Warner an apologetic look.
Elias Warner didn’t respond, just placed one hand in his pocket and looked at Annelise. "Really? Dr. Winter? Then wait for tonight, I have so questions to clear up."
Annelise knew Elias Warner said it on purpose.
She steadied her emotions and declared calmly, "If Captain Warner’s intent is to conduct an inspection for my flight tomorrow, then sorry, I’m only available tomorrow morning. I’m afraid I’ll be working all night tonight."
"Alright!"
Elias Warner did not insist, which Annelise didn’t expect. He turned around and left the office.
Chloe patted her chest: "This place in Kybourne is really spooky. Speak of the devil, and he appears. But we didn’t say anything bad about him, did we? Captain Warner’s presence is terrifying."
Chloe patted her chest, trying to calm her racing heart.
In the evening, Chloe had sothing to do, so she left Annelise to be on duty alone.
Usually, if Chloe didn’t have anything else going on and it wasn’t her shift, she would still stay to keep Annelise company.
Annelise was busy handling matters since she hadn’t been at work for days. After eating dinner at the restaurant, she returned to the office to continue working.
She was constantly worried Elias Warner would co looking for her, a sense of tension enveloping her.
After all, she wasn’t the only one on duty at The Airline.
If Elias Warner ca by so late, it wouldn’t look good for either of them. She was praying Elias Warner wouldn’t co.
Until Elias Warner sent her a ssage, saying he was going ho to spend ti with his daughter, warning her to go ho to Luna after her night shift, and did not go to find Annelise.
Annelise breathed a sigh of relief.
Until nine o’clock that night.
She rembered overhearing Mama Langdon ntion that Elias Warner ensured Luna went to bed on ti every day and that he wouldn’t disturb her.
She called Mama Langdon to confirm this.
"Mama Langdon, has Luna gone to sleep? Is Elias Warner at ho?"
"What’s the matter, Miss Winter? I’ve been with Luna all day. She’s just fallen asleep. Would you like to talk to her? After helping Luna to rest, the young master went to the study!"
"Alright, I understand!"
Annelise knew that Elias wasn’t by Luna’s side, so she called Luna on a video call.
Luna hadn’t gone to bed yet. She hadn’t seen Annelise all day, and when it was bedti, Annelise still hadn’t returned ho. Although she really wanted to ask when Annelise would be back ho,
she promised not to call Annelise "Mom" in front of Dad.
So she didn’t ask.
Sensing the commotion upstairs, she eagerly answered Annelise’s call.
She gleefully perked up, looking at Annelise through the phone.
"Mommy, Mommy, where are you? Why haven’t you co ho yet? Don’t you miss Luna? Today, Dad even showed a woman nad Jane Shaw and asked if she was my mom? Dad’s asked this twice now!"
"Sweet Luna, hurry to bed, Mommy has to stay at the office tonight, but you’ll see your darling tomorrow morning!" Annelise comforted her.
"Okay, I’ll be good and listen to Mommy and go to sleep."
"Make sure not to tell Daddy that Mommy video-called you!"
"Okay, I know, Mommy!"
Annelise ended the call, her mood still not settling down.
Jane Shaw?
She had completely forgotten about that issue.
Elias was still investigating Luna’s biological mother.
She had to figure out a way to solve that problem.
With deep contemplation, Annelise suddenly thought of a solution, so she called Flora.
"Flora, could you give the gentleman who’s been taking care of Luna my new phone number and have him contact as soon as possible?"
"Sure, but why did you change your number?" Flora didn’t understand.
"Oh, that phone isn’t in frequent use, just switched to this one."
Annelise lied to Flora.
"Alright, I’ll reach out to him right away and pass on your number!" Flora hung up on Annelise and then called Elias Warner.
Elias Warner didn’t pick up, so Flora passed Annelise’s number to Uncle Ford.
After giving the number to Uncle Ford, Flora called Annelise again to inform her.
Annelise called Uncle Ford.
"Hello, I’m Luna’s mother. Please inform Mr. Warner that this is my number. He can contact on this number in the future."
"Understood, Miss Winter, the young master is in the study now. I’ll inform him as soon as I can."
After ending the call, Annelise exhaled a long sigh of relief.
Since Mrs. Lockwood bailed her out of jail, she hadn’t checked on her brother at all.
Last ti, because of her, her brother ended up in the ICU after being hit by Renee Perry. This ti, she had failed to marry Wayne Young, and she didn’t know how her brother was now.
She tried calling her brother.
No answer?
Could Renee Perry be making things difficult for him again?
What should she do?
She was a bit flustered.
The Villa
Elias Warner was in the study, frowning at Jane Shaw’s photo. So if Jane wasn’t Luna’s mother, then who was?

Elias Warner’s phone rang.
It was a call from soone he’d stationed at the hospital.
"President Warner, we found sothing in the hospital surveillance. We caught a glimpse of Luna’s mother, but... but we only have a back view..."
"Only a back view?"
While still pondering, knocking was heard from outside.
"Knock, knock."
The knocking echoed, and Uncle Ford walked in.
"Young Master, Dr. Flora just gave Luna’s mother’s phone number. We even had a call just a mont ago. She wants you to reach out to her and intends to take Luna."
Take Luna?
What a coincidence?
Right as he finally found a lead at the hospital, soone contacted him claiming to be Luna’s mother?
"Send the video!"
"Yes!"
The person soon sent over the surveillance footage from the hospital investigation to Elias Warner.
