The audience was successfully made uncomfortable. Everyone was suddenly on board with Mo Liang, thinking that no matter what as going on, the child needed to be protected and left out of the ss.
Gao Jiajia winced. "This is terrible indeed and I hope that the police is watching us and they will do sothing about it. Mr. Mo is right, we should do better as humans."
The talk went on for about thirty more minutes, Mo Liang succeeded in making the audience weepy and sympathizing. Then, the question and answer session started.
A woman stood and asked, "Will your wife be raising this child?"
Mo Liang’s jaw tightened for just a mont—then softened, just enough.
"No... That is not her burden to bear. That is mine and as you all know, my wife is filing for divorce so it makes no sense for her to raise him."
The response was perfect. It made him look noble while subtly reminding everyone that his wife had no plans to be lenient or understanding.
A young man eagerly piped up next. "Do you love the child’s mother? She did write you a love letter when you were teenagers. According to Mrs. Xu, there was a relationship between you two even before you married Jun ilin."
Mo Liang ran a hand through his hair, a carefully crafted sign of tornt.
"Mrs. Xu said a lot of things, ninety nine percent of them were her assumptions. Everyone here must have received a love letter before. Those who are extrely good looking probably received dozens of letters each day.
I am not bragging but I used to receive at least ten of these per week from different girls. So I kept and others I threw away. Receiving love letters is not a cri and I refuse to be punished for sothing as silly as that.
Tang Yue once had a silly crush on , that is true but it was years ago. She fell in love and married Caleb eventually while I fell in love and married ilin. What is ridiculous about this situation is that I never even saw that letter."
"Yiiii..." The audience made a sound, doubting his words.
Mo Liang raised a hand, shaking his head while putting on a charming smile. "I swear to the heavens that I never saw that letter if I am telling a lie, lightning should strike . Like I said, I used to receive so many letters that I never got around to reading most of them. You can look for so of my old classmates and ask them about it."
A young woman was quickly shouted the next question before she could be stopped. "Is this the end of your marriage? Is there no hope for reconciliation?"
Mo Liang tapped his thigh once and he sighed. "I don’t know, it all depends on what my wife thinks is best for both of us. I would love to try again but love is... complicated. I don’t want to diminish what we shared or force us both to endure more misery. Right now, my focus is on responsibility. On ensuring that everyone involved in this ss—my wife, my son, his mother—can move forward with dignity."
"What about Caleb Xu’s patent?" Soone scread.
Mo Liang had co with his own evidence which were docunts showed on a screen behind as Mo Liang explained. "Developing technology takes a lot of money. Money which Caleb did not have but I did. After saving Jun ilin’s life, the Jun family was very generous to my family financially so I had a small nest egg.
Caleb Xu had debts that he never told his parents about and Tang Yue ca to and she told about the debts. These debts had created financially troubles between the couple and they had been fighting a lot. She cried and begged to help her husband.
As a friend, I stepped in and paid sixty million for a patent to a tiny device which I was not sure would work. I took a gamble and used my life’s savings to pay for the smart pill patch. I kept my identity hidden to protect my friend’s pride, which is not a cri. Caleb was a proud man and he did not want anyone knowing that he had debts.
I was lucky enough to sell the smart pill patch and I made a profit, which is also not a cri. I took ten million from that money and donated it. I still have the receipts to prove it and you can all see it too....." He broke off and turned around, peeking at the screen.
Whispers walked in the audience from one guest to another as Mo Liang invalidated another of the Xu couple’s accusations. The fact that he had gone ahead to use so of that money for charity was the cherry on top.
Mo Liang had gone through a baptism and despite being a cheater, he was sohow as clean as snow.
In ten minutes the interview was wrapped up and it was ti to say goodbye to the guest. The audience was on its feet, applauding loudly and Mo Liang waved at them. So guests started requesting for autographs and he went down to sign them. Others wanted to take pictures and he obliged them.
He had accomplished what he had set out to do. The interview had been masterful. He had given just enough to sound remorseful, yet not enough to be crucified.
i i had not watched the entire interview as she had been busy with her job, helping out the campers. However, she saw the highlights from small clips being shared online.
She had witnessed him doing what he did best; gaslight everyone around, twist the truth, forge evidence and lie until he dug himself out of the pit. What annoyed her the most was the fact that he had dragged her into it.
"System, do you sell lightning?"
The lazy fox that had been sleeping woke up, opening its beady little sly eyes.
"Lightning!" It exclaid.
"Yes, I want to buy one lightning strike and send it to my scumbag ex. Didn’t he swear to the heavens that he never saw Tang Yue’s love letter. We both know that its a lie so the heavens should respond appropriately."
"Forty points." C4 told her.
Mo Liang was followed out of the station by eager fans and outside there were a few more waiting. Most were won, screaming his na as if he the biggest star in the nation.
Security had to intervene and escort him to his flying car. When he reached his car, he paused, turned to his fans and raised his hand to wave at them one last ti.
There was a rumble in the sky and lightning struck out of the blue. As everyone scread in fright, scrambled to run or covered their ears, Mo Liang fell to the ground. Another lightning bolt struck him while he was on the ground. His body vibrated like a phone and bounced unpredictably across the ground.
"You are in luck, this is the two for one special." C4 told i i.
