Hui Zhenting closed his eyes and looked ahead. No matter what they asked, he would not crack. And he would deny all of his cris as long as there was no concrete evidence presented before him.
For all he knew, the IA detectives were bluffing and even if they were not, he had a feeling that the direction of this matter had already been decided. If the Imperial command was involved, the Emperor was involved and if he was involved, the Jun’s were involved.
Thick as thieves that bunch!
They were also criminals, they just wrapped it up in nice crown, cushy titles, costly clean up crews that wiped their traces and piles of money. He would not give them the satisfaction of watching him break.
One of the suspected police officers suddenly leaped on the table, reaching for the gun that appeared to have been left around carelessly.
Suddenly, a gunshot rung in the room. As others drew their weapons or flinched, the officer reaching for the gun fell to the floor.
Behind, Chen Shanhe’s gun had smoking coming from the barrel. "I advice you all to think twice before thinking that you are faster than the Imperial soldiers in this room." He looked at Li Nianzu who had one short blade in her hand. "Or Detective Li Nianzu’s blades."
When they looked at the dead officer, there was a knife embedded in his forehead. It was hard to tell what had killed him first between the knife and the bullet.
Deputy Chief Superintendent Shi Jinjian slamd his hand on the table. "You Imperial soldiers are out of hand. How can you shoot soone in my presence?"
Chen Shanhe raised the dal which symbolized the Emperor’s authority. It was wielded by the Imperial Commander Jun Mingzhe but as he was not present, Shanhe was standing in for him. "I hold this dal which represents the Emperor so right now, you can all assu that the Emperor is standing here. A murderer reached for a gun in the room where the Emperor is sort of present. It is only right that he be executed imdiately."
Another Imperial police officer nad Jin Xuan Xuan stepped forward and she slapped the table. "Maybe you can explain to us why the weapon was laying carelessly on the table. Are you all in cahoots?"
Detective Fu sighed. "The gun has no bullets, it was placed there to tempt them."
Detective Nianzu pushed the body off the table and called for other officers to invite a dical examiner over. We should move."
"We are staying right where we are." Chen Shanhe declared. "He pointed at the button on his long coat. This is a cara which is streaming live. The Emperor is watching. He said the first to confess will be treated leniently."
The Deputy Chief Superintendent sat upright as did the rest of the police officers in the room. So couldn’t help glaring at the Imperial officers, thinking that if her had given them a heads up, they could have perford better.
DCS Shi was suddenly very active. He pointed at the criminals. "All of you abused your authority and you have brought sha on the good na of the police. We have been monitoring your activities for months now and we have gathered enough evidence against you. Let tell you, none of you is getting away with the cris you committed."
"Yes." Deputy Inspector Bo Shang stood up and sternly looked at the suspects. "We have you on murder, drug trafficking, kidnapping, smuggling, abuse of authority and money laundering. You should confess while the Emperor is still being generous."
All the higher ups started competing to get a word in and prove that they were working hard. The lower officers sneered or rolled their eyes.
Chen Shanhe smiled. So, everyone had suddenly found their voice!
Hanbo did not need to be convinced any more and he gave up what he knew, bubbling it out as if his mouth was on fire. And he was not the only one, others followed, doing the sa.
Hui Zhenting had shot Nan Yan Fei, because in the book, she wrote about their corruption. She had been having a relationship with a mber of their team who told her about their deeds.
That person confessed what he had done to Hui Zhenting and also ntioned that he had seen the book and the Empress was one of the people ntioned. She was Chapter eight.
He never got to read the book so he did not know what was in that Chapter, but he thought Hui Zhenting should know as he was a Hui and maybe he could warn the Empress.
Their teammate, Zhen Jingsi had been found dead in his car. The death was ruled a suicide. Four days later, Nan Yan Fei returned to the empire and her house was raided.
It was Hui Zhenting that took the book and none of them knew what happened to it after. All they knew was that his face turned white when he saw so of the content inside.
There was more disbelief in the room as everyone was caught off guard. Hui Zhenting had killed one of their own!!
"You killed a fellow police officer!" The DCS exclaid in a low pained voice. "No...no...no...you killed my nephew!"
Hanbo cried. "I did not know....none of us knew that Hui Zhenting would kill Zhen Jingsi. He was on our team but not one of us so Zhenting must have been worried that he would tell people what he knew."
DCS Shi collapsed slowly into the chair, tugging at the buttons of his overly tight coat. "I sent him in...." He said slowly. "I sent him to investigate your group. I have always had questions about the suicide. But we found a note written in his handwriting and ....." He broke off and groaned.
Zhen Jingsi was his sister’s son and she was going to kill him when she learned of it.
DCS Shi stood up quickly. "I must relay this news in person." He would not allow his sister to learn of this on the news.
Nobody stopped stopped him as he run off and the arresting process started.
"Take the ones willing to testify against Hui Zhenting into protective custody." Chen Shanhe ordered. "anwhile, our IA officers should continue on with their job because this has not ended. Arrest every mber of the Hui family working in the police.
All of them have been corrupting the organization from the inside and you have been dragging your feet on cleaning them up because of the Empress. If you cannot clean up your ss, we imperial soldiers will clean them up for you. You have two days."
He turned around, raising his fingers. "Two days is all the ti the Emperor is giving you."
