Lady Meilin is seduced by her green tea brother-in-law everyday Chapter 299: Zhenzhen’s first hurdle
Zhenzhen looked down at her now empty cup of tea. She wanted to ask for more but it seed more important to answer the question i i had asked. "I don’t know. I was a young girl when I t him and I had the biggest crush on him. From that point of view I can answer what I think of him confidently.
From a political view, I am candidly puzzled. The few occasions I have spoken to him, he sticks to light topics. On political subjects, he speaks in parables and riddles that leave confused.
He once asked what kind of worm I would be if I were reborn. I said a European Nightcrawler because it is strong and lively."
i i rung a small bell with her eyes fixed on the entrance to the living room and her lips curving upwards. "That kind of worm is great for bait."
Zhenzhen let out a faint laugh. "He said the exact sa thing."
"Because he asks almost everyone he ets that question and judges them on the answer." i i shared with her. "I don’t know how it helps his judgent but thanks to his worm theory, he has made solid friends and gathered so solid advisors and helpers. Perhaps we should team up and convince him to publish a book on his worm theory in relation to human behavior."
Zhenzhen shrugged. "Perhaps."
Mama Chen ca to the living room, followed by a whining tiger cub. Zhenzhen raised her feet and looked at Yama with worry in her eyes. Tigers a pets!! A lot of royal families did it but she personally though it was not a good idea.
Wild animals were wild animals and tigers were not just wild animals, they were predators. With one tantrum, they could end an entire family.
Zhenzhen did not even own a dog. Not since she saw a news story on three dogs that ate a child in a remote town. She was six years old at the ti and since then, dogs were not man’s best friend to her.
"Not a fan of tigers." i i said.
Zhenzhen looked at the tiger which was following mama Chen out of the living room, still fussing. She saw a wolf cub joining it and she shuddered. "Not a fun of large animals with sharp fangs in my vicinity."
i i nodded. Pets were not for everyone.
Zhenzhen surprised i i by taking out a cupcake from her bag. It was one of those fake cupcakes with cushy bodies and facial features that worked as if they were real. It was a smart pet!! They were fake pets which were not just animal but all sorts of things.
So people had fake fruits, fake animals, fake socks that had octopus limbs.
The pet industry had been revolutionized. Pets were no longer adopted and they did not need to have blood and flesh. For this reason, euthanasia had beco a common practice to reduce on the number of unwanted real animals on the streets.
This was one of the reasons as to why Jun Yi was determined to build that large pet hospital/resort.
"This is as far as I go in the pet departnt." Zhenzhen shared. "She is a purple strawberry variant with frosting ears and sprinkle eyes. Her personality is sweet and sassy."
"Stop." i i held her hand out. "I am Jun and we abhor these fake pets. They are created to be cute and adorable so many won love them. n like them because they are worry free. You don’t need to feed or clean up after them. Just plug it into a charger and it is good to go." She sneered. "They were supposed to be pet alternatives for people with allergies to fur not take over the world."
Zhenzhen pursed her lips and put the cupcake back into her bag. "I respect your choice but I don’t feel guilty about owning my cupcake pet."
i i nodded. An Empress needed to have a backbone. "Good for you. I hope you will be able to say that to the Empress Mother because she hates fake pets even more than . She owns so dogs and cats and so does Junjie. The royal family loves their animal friendly image and they support many animal related causes.
We have an entire ministry in our empire dedicated to the well being and rights of real animals. As the Empress you will be expected to tour so animal facilities, pet so cats for the cara and pose beside dogs that work in security around the Empire.
What is your plan for those situations?"
Zhenzhen hesitated to answer this question as she needed to think about it carefully. Her aunt had told her to be careful in all of her responses to Jun ilin. If they were found lacking, her position would be lost in a heartbeat. She was not officially Empress yet. She was not even dating the Emperor.
Mama Su brought more milk tea and fresh snacks while Zhenzhen was chewing on her bottom lip, thinking deeply.
She had been excited to get a chance to date the man she liked that she did not ponder much on other things. The fact that he was the Emperor was just a bonus to her. But whether he was one or not, Zhenzhen was willing to be with him.
He was her DJ Cat.
That thought made her clench her fists. How could sothing small like a fear of dosticated animals make her back away from a man she had longed for all these years?
She used to dream of being his empress and she was finally given the opportunity. How could she let it go easily?
Even the dead Empress that was not liked used to keep a flock of swans and was a well known bird watcher. She supported many children’s clubs that educated children on bird species.
She had to surpass the dead Empress, maybe even pick up so of the responsibilities she had left behind like the bird watching clubs.
Zhenzhen looked at i i with determined eyes. "Sister, I will be relying on you from now on to help overco my fear of animals. But, before I dive in wholeheartedly, I just want to know one last thing." The ninety nine questions did not matter, only one. "Do you think that he will be able to love ?"
i i leaned forward and put her cup down on the table.
Zhenzhen locked her fingers together and looked at the steam rising out of the fresh cup of the on the table before her. "I have not told anyone this but I am afraid. If he is cold to ....." She shook her head.
She did not think that she could handle it if she had to live in silence with a man that did not want her. She was keeping her hopes low until she heard it directly from him that he did not just want the marriage for political reasons but he wanted her.
