Bear-san Tells a Secret

Kagali-san and I looked at the Ice Dragon as it flew away.

“Kagali-san, what do you think about what the Ice Dragon said?” (Yuna)

“If it’s true, it ans that there used to be a person whose magic power was similar to yours. Personally, I can’t imagine that there is such a person, no, never mind.” (Kagali)

No, I didn’t believe it either.

It was more realistic that Kagali-san had a family mber in this world.

(T/L: The dragon said that Kagali resembled soone and since Kagali had never encountered this dragon before, Yuna assud that it was a relative or a family mber of Kagali, which also ant that Kagali didn’t just spawn but was born from soone. Because Kagali is a demon fox, Yuna didn’t know if she was like monsters that just spawn randomly or was born from a similar creature. After all, there were sentient beings in this world that simply appeared without being born.)

Maybe she was the child of a fox spirit.

“In the first place, is there such a thing as similar or dissimilar magic power?” (Yuna)

“I don’t know anything about that. I’m not a scholar or researcher. To be honest, I don’t know any scholars or researchers.” (Kagali)

“But earlier you could tell that snow had magic power in it.” (Yuna)

“I can tell if sothing has magic power or not, but I can’t tell the minute details.” (Kagali)

Well, she might be able to tell whether sothing had magic power or not, but she could not tell who it belonged to just by knowing about the existence of the magic power.

Maybe if we did sothing similar to a blood test or so kind of magic test, we could find out.

Kagali-san put her tail away and said, “I’m going back.”

There was no point in staying here, so we went back to where Lize-san and the others were.

“Yuna-san! Kagali-chan!” (Lize)

As we entered the room, Lize-san ca running up to us.

“Are you two okay?” (Lize)

“We’re fine.” (Yuna)

“So, what happened outside?” (Lize)

“There was a loud noise, and the ground shook.” (Old Man)

The old n asked more questions.

It seed like the ground shook when the Ice Dragon landed.

I looked at Kagali-san.

“There’s no point in lying and trying to cover it up. If we go outside, they’ll notice it.” (Kagali)

The stable was destroyed, and there was a large hole at the place where the dragon landed.

“An Ice Dragon landed.” (Yuna)

“Ice Dragon?” (Lize)

“Are you okay?” (Old Man)

The commotion got louder.

“It flew away again, so don’t worry.” (Yuna)

“But when the Ice Dragon landed, the stable was destroyed.” (Kagali)

I was not the one who destroyed it, but I still felt bad.

“I see. But I’m glad you two are safe. And thanks to Yuna-san, the horse is also safe. If we need a stable for the horse, we can just use another shed.” (Lize) 𝙧𝓪ꞐồΒĚṩ

There were other sheds, like sheds for storing mining tools, sheds for resting, and sheds for talking.

That certainly was a lot of sheds.

“Let ask you guys, have you ever seen the Ice Dragon here?” (Yuna)

“I’ve only seen it flying over us.” (Bollard)

“And whenever we see it, we go into hiding.” (Lize)

That was true.

I didn’t know if it ate people, but there was a chance it would attack humans.

It was a natural reaction to hide, right?

If a dinosaur appeared in the real world, I would hide too so I wouldn’t be found.

Slowly, everyone cald down. They ate food and went to bed.

“Where will you sleep, Yuna-san?” (Lize)

There were only beds for Lize-san and the others.

No guest had ever been here before, so it couldn’t be helped.

“We’ll sleep outside, so it’s fine.” (Yuna)

I told them about the Bear House. Lize-san and her father also explained to the others about my Bear House they saw in town.

They trusted because they once witnessed make the Bear Bath before. That said, they seed interested in the Bear House, and followed outside the mine.

The snowstorm was getting weaker, and I thought it would stop by morning.

They were surprised when I set up the Bear House at the entrance of the mine.

I asked them if they wanted to sleep in the Bear House, but they politely declined.

“So, what are you planning to do next?” (Kagali)

Kagali-san asked as she entered the Bear House and sat in a chair.

“Hmm, what should I do? Even if I leave here, I don’t know what Lize-san and others will do. I’m wondering if it’s okay to leave everyone like this.” (Yuna)

“I understand your feelings. But there are things one can do and things one can’t do.” (Kagali)

I also knew that.

Even if I had bear gear, I was not a god.

“Also, I’m worried about what Ice Dragon said. Doesn’t it bother you, Kagali-san?” (Yuna)

“I’d be lying if I said it didn’t. But after living for hundreds of years, I’m done being dependent upon my parents. I don’t miss my family. As long as the people around are happy, I have nothing more to ask for.” (Kagali)

Kagali-san took out the sake she had prepared and took a sip.

She looked so calm, just like an adult.

No, Kagali-san was an adult.

“Is that what you’re wondering about?” (Kagali)

“To be honest, yes. I shouldn’t have any relatives, if you think about it logically.” (Yuna)

“Really? Maybe it was so distant relatives.” (Kagali)

I shouldn’t even have any distant relatives in this world, let alone close relatives.

I couldn’t imagine that God would even summon my parents into this world. All I could think of were relatives or distant relatives. However, I couldn’t be sure as it seed highly unlikely.

There was no way for to know what God did or didn’t do.

I wondered whether to tell Kagali-san about it.

I thought for a mont, and created a Bear Magic Circle on the table.

“What is this, a contract magic circle?” (Kagali)

I’d already shown it to Kagali-san once, so she imdiately understood it’s a Bear Contract Magic Circle.

“So you can’t talk about it? If so, you don’t have to force yourself to talk about it. Everyone has things they can’t talk about, or don’t want to talk about.” (Kagali)

“That’s true.” (Yuna)

“Is it sothing that can be solved by listening to it?” (Kagali)

I shook my head.

“Will it make you feel better if I listen to it?” (Kagali)

“…” (Yuna)

“Of course, sotis just talking can help you sort out your feelings and make you feel better. If that’s the case, I’ll listen.” (Kagali)

“If I talk about it, it might cause trouble for Kagali-san.” (Yuna)

“Is it sothing that could threaten my life?” (Kagali)

I shook my head.

“It’s not dangerous. It’s just that the entire premise is absurd.” (Yuna)

“You removed the darkness, that is, the giant serpent from haunting . If there’s no danger in listening to it, then I am more than willing to listen, and that won’t even be enough to repay you.” (Kagali)

When I looked at Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear, they ca close to my left and right with worried looks.

“Alright, will you listen to my story?” (Yuna)

“Yes.” (Kagali)

And so, I revealed everything to her…

That I ca from a different world.

That I was brought to this world by soone who called himself God.

About how I was given the power of the bear.

And that there was no way for to return to my original world.

Kagali-san listened in silence.

“I can’t believe that there is a world different from this one. And God…” (Kagali)

“I knew that it was difficult to believe.” (Yuna)

“That’s not it. There are things in this world that are difficult to believe. Above all, your existence itself is difficult to even comprehend.” (Kagali)

That’s true, though.

“So that’s why you only tell about yourself to the people you can believe in, and make other people not be able to ntion it. With this, I can now understand why you’ve kept quiet about it up to now.” (Kagali)

It was no good spreading this information around.

People would look at strangely. They might even think I was crazy. Or at worst, be scared.

If Fina were to look at strangely, thinking I was crazy, or be afraid of , I would beco more than ‘just being’ depressed.

“So these bears are granted to you by a God. Does that an they would beco a divine beast like Sakura thought about?” (Kagali)

Kagali-san turned her attention to Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear.

“Kuun”

Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear cried proudly.

“It doesn’t seem like that at all.” (Kagali)

“Kuun”

This ti they cried in protest.

“Now, now, don’t get angry. You don’t think of yourself as a divine beast either.” (Kagali)

“Kuun”

Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear rubbed up against , so I stroked their heads in return to calm them down.

“So, there is no way for to have any blood relatives in this world.” (Yuna)

“I understand why you are not convinced by Ice Dragon’s words.” (Kagali)

“So, what do you think?” (Yuna)

“All I can understand is that God may have summoned your blood relatives. To begin with, we don’t even know if God exists.” (Kagali)

“Is it okay to say that?” (Yuna)

“People make wishes to Gods. But most of those wishes are never granted. How many tis do you think I have prayed to God?” (Kagali)

That’s right. When the giant serpent attacked her and her people, they most likely clung to praying for a miracle from God.

Yet, many people died in that tragedy.

“If there is a God, I want him to create a world where everyone can live happily.” (Kagali)

It may be a wish that Kagali-san had wished for many tis.

“No, if you are a ssenger of God, does that an my wish has co true?” (Kagali)

Kagali-san’s wish.

She wanted to save her country from the giant serpent.

I defeated the giant serpent, so in a way, that was not wrong.

But I wanted to deny this one thing.

“I’m not a god’s ssenger.” (Yuna)

“Well, like those bears, you don’t look like a god’s ssenger. You are more of a bear’s ssenger.” (Kagali)

Starting with my bear gear, bear magic, summoned beasts Swaying Bear and Hugging Bear. I couldn’t deny it if soone said I was a bear’s ssenger.

“If there really is a god, I’d like to et that being. And I’d like to complain.” (Kagali)

“I’ve never t one either.” (Yuna)

“Really?” (Kagali)

“I only receive one-sided letters from soone who calls themselves as God.” (Yuna)

“When I hear you say so, you seem more like a shrine maiden or priestess than Sakura and the others.” (Kagali)

Now that she ntioned it, it was like I was receiving oracles from God.

But rather than oracles, it was more like receiving letters and emails after events had ended.

“So, is the secret of your strength the power you received from God?” (Kagali)

“I think that fighting techniques are things I’ve honed myself.” (Yuna)

I didn’t have magic power in the real world, but I did in the ga.

I also learned how to fight in the ga.

And I doubted Kagali-san would understand if I explained the ga to her, so I told her that it was like a different world.

“There is another world besides the one I was born in, and in that world we can use magic and swords.” (Yuna)

“So there are more other worlds out there?” (Kagali)

“I guess there are.” (Yuna)

The ga was so realistic that it was okay to call it a different world.

“I can use magic in that other world, but I can’t use magic when I return to my own world.” (Yuna)

“That is such a strange world.” (Kagali)

“In that other world, monsters appear just like here, and I fought people too.” (Yuna)

“I see. Even if you are given power, you can’t use it if you don’t know how to use it. It would be like if you gave Sakura magic and a sword, she wouldn’t be able to fight.” (Kagali)

It was the sa with anything. Just because you had been given sothing, it didn’t an you could use it.

Even if you had been given an airplane or a helicopter, there was no way a novice would be able to pilot it.

Just because you were given a knife, it didn’t an you could dismantle a monster from the get go.

Just because you were playing a ga, it didn’t an you would be good at it right away.

You have to fail and learn over and over again.

Like everything, experience was necessary to pursue success.

“I’ve learned a little bit about the secret of your strength.” (Kagali)

Kagali-san nodded in understanding.

Then, I perford a Bear Contract Magic with Kagali-san about what we’ve talked about today.

It was not that I didn’t trust Kagali-san, but it would be troubleso if she slipped sothing out when drunk.

The only thing that couldn’t seem to be cured was Kagali-san’s love of alcohol, and I didn’t know if she would be able to return to her normal adult self if she continued like this.
