Chapter 762: Chapter 357: Vampire Earl

“We can’t just rush in directly…” After discussing with everyone, Leon postponed the original direct capture plan.

The original expectation was that at worst, we would just have to attack an undead stronghold. But now, with so many living people present, a reckless frontal assault would inevitably cause chaos and could lead to unnecessary casualties within the city.

Leon untied the armor, instructed his n to retrieve a plain travel coat from the supply bags, and changed the strategy.

After all, the main purpose of this trip was simply to capture so people for interrogation to find the whereabouts of Eriv and Charlemagne, rather than rashly engaging in a full-fledged war with the undead entrenched here.

“Olivia, Acro, Lokhak… you follow into the city for covert operations.”

Having Olivia, who could block the vampires’ ability to vaporize, was an indispensable companion for this action. Leon also picked the two companions with the best skills and three rangers, then looked at the others.

“Aze, you and David will lead troops in ambush outside the city. Once the capture is successful, the entire army will proceed to support our retreat…”

“Wait, Mr. Leon, I want to co along too.” David requested proactively, “You all are infiltrating enemy territory for news of my father, I can’t stay outside and just wait.”

Seeing his firm attitude, Leon nodded.

David’s martial arts were quite decent among ordinary knights, joining the action wouldn’t hold everyone back. Moreover, if any unexpected events occurred, they could pull out several carts of bread n for the rear, not fearing teammates falling behind during a risky retreat.

The eight of them stripped down, leaving only armored undergarnts, and put on simple robes. Leon and Kovis stuffed the Guardian Spirit Holy Lamp into backpacks, slung them over their shoulders, disguising themselves as travelers who lost their way and ended up in the mountain city avoiding the undead.

Order Death Claw to take Eagle Xiao An to monitor and wait on nearby mountain cliffs. Everyone strapped on swords and long swords, traversing through the mountain paths, arriving at the unfamiliar mountain city’s countryside.

Leon glanced at the towering fortress in the distance, thought for a mont, and walked towards the farrs in the wheat fields, intending to ask about the situation here.

Even with the Holy War Army troops and Avalon Raven Wing Second Company containing Kantadar Warriors, they were all from Kandad East and the northern regions. They only knew vaguely about the Southern Mountain Territory but were completely ignorant of the Roslava Territory where they stood now.

It was midday, so farrs were sitting on the edge of the fields, resting and eating.

A farr glimpsed a group of figures approaching, wearing hoods and capes, girded with weapons, and was instantly terrified.

It was his first ti seeing them appear in broad daylight at noon.

Afraid to entertain even the slightest thought of escape, the farr scrambled away, trembling and prostrating himself on the ground, bowing, afraid of causing misunderstandings or trouble.

“Sir….sir, my family visited the castle three days ago, we’ve absolutely not been deceitful or lazy! If you’re hungry, we’ll gladly go again tonight….!”

Leon halted upon hearing this, suddenly realizing that the other had mistaken him for soone else.

Castle?

Originally intending to clarify, Leon felt moved in his heart, raised a hand to stop his companions’ steps, lowered his voice with a deep, cold tone:

“Your explanation is weak… If you indeed visited, tell what you saw there?”

The farr trembled, swallowing dryly, and answered fearfully: “But, we…we dared not look at anything, it was too dark there, sir, I only heard the movents when the noble beings were ‘dining’…”

Watching the farr tremble, Olivia tugged Leon’s sleeve, pointing at the man’s neck.

Following her gaze, Leon saw a pair of healed bite marks on the farr’s neck.

Leon furrowed his brows; the sa kind being treated as food enraged him.

Are the living here truly captive blood livestock for these vampires?

Yet, in the next mont, observing the unshackled farr, Leon cald down slightly.

“You are very afraid… Have you never thought of escaping?” Leon continued in a cold voice, echoing like the foreboding tones of ancestors from the Soul Hall.

“No! Never!…Ugh…” The farr swallowed with trembling, half-truthfully replied humbly: “Under your rule, sir, my family’s days have been prosperous for over a year, never once starving, why would we escape…my family wishes to eternally supply fresh blood to you sirs…just…just ask you to spare us…..”

Leon raised a brow, these words were enough for him to grasp the situation of the people here.

Not wanting to incite suspicion, he no longer intimidated the farr, waving to continue onward with the group toward the mountain city.

Lokhak glanced back at the farr who dared not stand, nearing Leon, he asked: “Seems like those vampire undead are entrenched in the fortress within the city, should we storm the castle?”

“No rush for a strong assault.” Leon waved, surveying the skies.

“The farr said they went to the castle at night to supply blood, we’ll wait until nightti to inspect the situation. If we can blend in a crowd entering the castle, we can avoid many troubles by infiltrating from within.”

Faced with vampires having special sensing thods, invisibility from light and shadow magic didn’t have much effect; like that night when infiltrating, Leon didn’t notice the vampires, but they detected his invisible presence.

As undead, they could either perceive the soul fire of the living or have sensing abilities that easily detect the vital signs and footsteps of humans. The group couldn’t infiltrate the stronghold without alarming the vampires.
