"Axilla, Axilla.." Kayla, who had been sneaking around in the palace, knocked and called out the na softly.

Axilla was surprised to hear the girl’s voice. At first, she thought it was her imagination, but when she heard it again, she opened the door.

"Kayla!" The young girl exclaid, checking if there were guards, she dragged the girl inside.

"Kayla, how co you’re here? Are you alone? What about Cortez? How is he? Did he co with you?" Axilla rained questions on the girl, happy to see soone she knew in an unknown land.

Kayla touched the girl’s hand, "I’m here with Lady Hash. Chief Cortez left for Morado, I’m sure he would be here soon with a legion of army to save you. How are you? Did they do anything to you?" She asked worriedly, checking Axilla’s body to be sure nothing had happened to her.

Axilla smiled, "I’m very fine. I’m glad you’re here." She said, going to sit down while Kayla followed her behind.

"I guess I’ll have to stop calling you Axilla, you’re of noble blood since Lady Hash is your m-" Kayla’s words were cut short.

"I’m Axilla, from Wahels. Let’s not allow absurd rumours to worry us." Axilla interjected, looking at the fireplace.

Kayla went to sit close to her, "Why? Are you not happy she’s your mother? She was the most worried when she found out you were abducted. I never knew a day would co when I will see Lady Hash cry. The woman is the fiercest I’ve seen, but when she heard you were taken away, she cried terribly." Kayla narrated, touching Axilla’s shoulder.

Axilla didn’t say a word. All she did was look blankly at the fireplace, watching the woods crackle as they burnt down to ashes.

"I don’t know what happened in the past, or why you both got separated, but I think you should maybe listen to her." Kayla continued, "She brought here to check on you. She is really worried about you. Just go and see her." The girl completed.

Axilla sighed, "Where is she?" The girl finally asked.

"I will take you to her. Let’s go." Kayla suggested, leading the way to the last room she saw Lady Hash enter.

The supre king’s side saw the movent of their guests in the palace, and he went to report to the king.

"Let them move freely. This would be their new ho. And we shouldn’t deny mother and child their reunion. Just make sure they don’t step out of the palace." That was the reply Venantius gave.

Lady Hash, who was still sitting quietly in the room she had had a conversation with Venantius, didn’t move from her position. Her heart ached with the words the man told her. The words were true. There was no difference with her act and that of Venantius.

When the door to the room opened, Lady Hash sighed, "Venantius, let have my peace. I don’t want to talk to you again." The woman said curtly.

Axilla pushed open the door. She stood at the entrance, unsure of what to do. In the past, she would have been so happy to see Lady Hash, because the woman gave her this feeling of comfort. But now, in the present, she was scared. Scared of accepting the woman as her mother. It would only an she was truly abandoned.

Lady Hash noticed that there was no movent after the door opened. She turned her face, "Axilla..is that you?" The woman’s voice was now sounding frail and dull.

Axilla wiped off the tears that were falling from her eyes. She cleared her throat, "Lady Hash," she muttered.

Lady Hash rose up on her feet, moving her hands in the air, "Dear, are you okay? Did he do anything to you?" In the process of moving without her stick, the woman’s leg hit one of the chairs and she fell.

Axilla quickly went to help her up, "Don’t move around without your stick. You’ll end up hurting yourself," she sighed, helping her sit comfortably. Axilla said, "I’m fine. He didn’t do anything to ." The girl replied.

Lady Hash smiled, "That’s a relief. You didn’t have to co see . You must have been shocked with everything. Get so rest. I’ll see how I can handle things around here."

"Why?" Axilla muttered, looking at the woman. "Why do you want to handle things? Because of Cortez? Why do you want to help ?" The girl asked, her voice breaking at the end.

Lady Hash sniffled back the tears that were trying to slip away. It was obvious Venantius had told the girl everything. "I want to make sure you’re okay. I’m not doing it for any reason. I just want to help you." The older woman replied.

Axilla chuckled dryly, "Did you know about all these while? Is that why you always acted good to , swaying my heart and making long to have a mother? Did you approach knowing who I was?" The girl asked, this ti the tears flowed down freely from her eyes.

Her mind went back to the first ti she had t Lady Hash at the market and how the woman had praised her, calling her innocent. The other ti she had been abducted by the prince of Ferrer, the woman was also there to help her. All these mories flooded at once, making Axilla break down in tears.

"I didn’t know, Axilla. I didn’t approach you because I knew who you were to . I liked you genuinely," Lady Hash replied.

Axilla twitched her lips, "You like ? But it wasn’t enough to keep as your child. Let ask you, is what that man saying true? Did you really abandon ?" The girl asked the question she dreaded the most.

Lady Hash inhaled, "Axilla, I can explain. Then I was-"

"Answer , did you really abandon after you gave birth to , not why?" Axilla interjected, now glaring at the woman.

Lady Hash gripped her gown tightly. She knew that one day nesis would catch up with her, but she didn’t know it would be in the worst way. She had tried to pay for her cris all her life, but it was never enough. She had to face her judgnt one day. Axilla was her retribution, and the painful part was that she couldn’t see the look on the girl’s face at the mont.

"Yes.." Lady Hash muttered.

Axilla nodded, "Then that’s all I need to know. Keep it that way. The child you birthed died that day. Let’s not suddenly confuse each other. I’ll keep the respect I have for you. Let’s treat each other as rely strangers." The girl replied.

Lady Hash tried to control her tears, but it was difficult. All she could do was nod. "I know asking for your forgiveness would be shaless of . Forgiveness is too costly."

"Then you shouldn’t do what you would ask forgiveness for." Axilla replied curtly. Inhaling deeply, she continued. "This is no ti for crying. We should find a way to leave this palace. Cortez must be worried. You should know that since you stayed beside him as a mother. Or do you want to abandon him now, since you’ve found your own child?" The words were breaking Axilla’s heart, but she couldn’t help but say them. She covered her face with her hand, trying to stifle back her tears.

Lady Hash shook her head, "No, I wouldn’t do that. Let’s find a way to leave this place. If Cortez should co here, Venantius would lock him up forever." The older woman replied, drying the tears from her eyes with a handkerchief.
