Chapter 148: A MINUTE LATE

[MUSIC RECOMNDATION: FLY BEFORE YOU FALL ~ CYNTHIA ERIVO]

Almaria got herself ready; according to Panha’s letter that she received, everything was now set for her to attack the palace. As if her star was helping them, soone abducted Kitanna from the palace, making everyone, including Nix, disoriented. She was so happy that things were finally working out in her favour.

Stepping out of her room, she went to join the Supre King in his carriage. Almaria smiled when she saw the number of soldiers they were leaving with. There was no way Kitanna would be prepared for their attack. She was helped by a maid to get inside the carriage.

"Don’t you look quite lovely today, Almaria," Venantius smiled, touching the side of her face.

Almaria gave him a sweet smile before sitting close to him. "That is because the Supre king has been taking care of ." She bowed her head gently.

The corner of the Supre King’s lips curled. "I should ask your son to give you to

for so ti, hmm?" Venantius placed his hands on Almaria’s lap, rubbing it gently.

"You should know I am a grandmother, and my son needs

beside him, to rule," Almaria replied, placing her hands on his.

Venantius did not reply; he nodded his head before retrieving his hands and keeping them to himself.

"Once we get to the palace, point out where the White Lords are, both grandson and grandfather. I should finally end this cycle," the man remarked, reclining in his position and closing his eyes as the coachman mounted the horse and set off to Morado.

Along the passage in the palace of Ferrer kingdom, Lady Hash held Axilla’s hand until they entered an empty room.

"Child, do I know you?" Lady Hash asked, washing her hands.

Axilla nodded as if the woman could see her, "Yes, yes, You said my soul was pure."

The woman stopped what she was doing for a mont; her brows furrowed worriedly. "Be specific, child; there are thousands of people I have called a pure soul just to sell my business."

Axilla bit her lips; it was her fault for being so vague. "I ca with Chief Cortez; you thought we were in a romantic relationship." She clarified, praying the woman would rember.

"Oh," that was the only word Axilla heard the old woman say.

"Do you rember?" She asked imdiately, or did the young master go to her store with different young girls? She couldn’t help but ask in her mind.

Lady Hash turned to face the girl properly, using her stick to hold her balance, she said;

"Of course I do, child, I’m wondering what you’re doing here while I’m on my way to see Cortez, did you run away? Was Cortez not treating you well enough?"

Axilla shook her head and narrated to the woman how they got here and how they had mistaken Cortez’s sister to be the princess.

After listening to the whole story, Lady Hash shook her head, "I knew that idiot of a crown prince was up to no good. His ancestors would palm their heads in sha wherever they are. Who kidnaps a princess? I don’t even understand what his plans are, but they sound foolish to ." The old woman sighed tiredly.

"So, the young woman inside there is not really the princess? I thought as much; the stories I heard about Kitanna, she wouldn’t be this silent. I was on my way to Morado, but I think my journey would be put to hold for so ti." The old woman remarked, dipping her hand inside her pocket.

Axilla widened her eyes, "No, you have to leave and tell them where we are." She cried; this was their only source of hope.

Lady Hash smiled, reaching out to hold the girl who was panicking, "Hush now, child, Lasance might be an idiot, but he knows as much as not to leave

after he kidnapped a princess of Morado. I really am interested to know what his plans are."

Axilla held the woman’s warm hands and asked, "Then what do we do?" She asked.

"What we do? We keep up with the act, once I leave this room, use the whistle to call my ssenger bird. I believe you can write, child?" The woman asked in a low voice.

Axilla nodded, then she realized the woman was blind. "Yes, I can," she answered.

"Good, write to Cortez, and also give this to the bird. It was the reason I was called after all. Blow the whistle twice, and the bird would appear, for the location, since Morado is in the west, blow it four tis, then once indicating the palace. The first building to be seen is the palace, leave the rest to Cortez." Lady Hash handed the girl the antidote.

Axilla nodded her head, hiding the content inside her gown. "I’m glad everything is going to be okay soon," she squeaked feeling excited.

"Well, let’s pray a bigger bird doesn’t eat my ssenger bird." The woman said casually, causing Axilla to freeze in shock. As if the woman knew the young girl’s countenance, she let out a crooked smile,

"You can’t stop the food cycle because of your ergency." The old woman smiled, using her stick to reach for the door.

Axilla gulped nervously; was this a joke or what? She stared at the woman for so ti before going to help her out.

Stepping outside the restroom, the maid nad Aria appeared before them, looking at them suspiciously.

"His royal highness asks of you," she conveyed, bowing at the older woman.

"Lady Hash, you spent a lot of ti answering nature’s call." Crown prince Lasance smiled, standing up as soon as the older woman stepped in.

Lady Hash waved her hands, "When you get to my age, you would understand. I should be on my way now. I told you I have another business to attend to." She placed her two hands on her walking stick.

Lasance nodded his head, "Of course you did. But I thought about it; maybe you should witness the wedding while you’re here."

"If I didn’t know better. I would say you’re trying to make

a prisoner, but that would be sheer ignorance. I’ll stay and give you my blessings then. It is an honor Crown Lasance and Princess Kitanna." Lady Hash remarked, smiling generously at the crown prince before her eyes fell on the princess.

After breakfast, Larel and Axilla made their way to the room they had slept in the night before. Getting inside the room, Axilla turned to Larel.

"Lady Larel, we have a bird to summon."

.....

Back at Morado inside the palace, the maid Catja ran like sothing was chasing her. Her hands were stained with blood, but she didn’t care.

"Lady Panha, she escaped!. Lady Larel has escaped." The maid couldn’t hold herself from wheezing. When she had reached to the storeroom, there was nobody there except ropes with stains of blood on them. The person who had been tied in there used force to free herself. She touched the ropes and checked the room over and over again, it dawned to her that the person had escaped. And it was big trouble.

Panha scanned the girl for so ti, before she pressed her lips gently. "Catja, you were a minute late. If you had told

earlier that you hated the princess I would have advised you properly; now your sins have caught up with you."

The maid’s eyes widened in shock, the princess? What was the lady speaking of? She never said anything about the princess.

Then from the corner of the room, the princess, Lord Nix, and Cortez appeared standing in front of the maid.

"Pri... princess Kitanna?" Catja shrieked, holding her chest. It was the sa princess that was proclaid abducted. She didn’t understand what exactly was going on.

Panha stood up from her seat, "She has been acting suspiciously, I didn’t know it was sothing that had to do with the princess’s disappearance. Locking the princess up and leaving her in a tight storeroom? You are a traitor!" The young woman clicked her tongue in distaste.

"No...I....it was Lady Larel, I didn’t...."

"Lord Nix, there is a bird causing a ruckus outside the palace," Chantal rushed inside to announce to the people in the room.
