Chapter 33: Sweet Revenge
The people inside the known establishnt who witnessed the lady’s mishap backed away with a disgusted look. When the pain subsided after vomiting everything that was inside of her, Samantha looked at the blood ssing up the marbled floor. Her eyes widened upon realizing what scene she had caused and what a ss she made out of herself.
Could not stand the embarrassnt, she stood and pulled herself out of the place. The passersby outside the establishnt gave her strange glances when she went out with blood all over her beige dress, even in her mouth.
She glared at them and yelled at the footman to open the carriage.
Wiping herself with a handkerchief inside the carriage, the vampiress could only think of one thing that possibly caused her mishap. It was the blood that she drank, Lauren’s blood.
"That woman," she uttered through gritted teeth. There was no way that would happen to her unless the princess put sothing on the glass of blood, or perhaps casted a spell on it. It was a pity she underestimated her.
Rushing back to the Everston mansion furiously, Samantha arrived while Alec was sitting alone at the dining table and cutting the half-cooked at on his plate. Mr. Hendricks had left the mansion a while ago, as well as Lauren.
"Where is your wife?" Samantha asked Alec.
Alec brought his gaze to the vampiress and noticed the ss her cousin was in, but he wasn’t surprised. He already knew sothing would happen.
"Why? You just saw her an hour ago. Did you miss her already? Such a sweet cousin-in-law you are."
"Alec, look what she had done to !" Samantha pointed to herself, thinking that she would gain the lord’s sympathy and would not hesitate in siding with her. After all, she was his own blood whom he had known for years and the princess was just so woman he married recently.
"Spilled you so blood, I suppose?"
"You think it’s that simple? I don’t exactly know what she did but I’m sure she put sothing on her blood that she served to ! Maybe she made use of so cheap spell! Who knows! I was so embarrassed, Alec. When I entered an establishnt in the town I started feeling a sudden kick of pain in my stomach and then I vomited all the blood I consud earlier. I made a big ss in public!"
To Samantha’s disappointnt, her cousin remained calm in his seat after hearing her rant.
"What could I say... the woman I married was quite extraordinary. Don’t you also think so, dear Samantha?"
Samantha frowned and went near the table. "Alec, I’m your family and she dared disrespect ! It ans she might cause you problems in the future if you won’t give her a lesson. She deserves punishnt!"
"Hmm..." Alec acted like he was thinking about it. "You are right, it is possible she would grow rebellious and as her husband, I am responsible for her actions."
Samantha nodded, relieved that she finally opened her cousin’s mind now.
"Why don’t you sit first and drink so tea to calm you down. Lauren left and will be back by noon. Oswin, ask Emmanuel here."
At the ntion of a familiar na, Samantha asked, "Emmanuel? You have a new servant?"
"No, not one with the sa na as yours of course."
A word from the butler and the man who was in the garden went inside the mansion. The young man wore more decent clothes than ordinary servants, proving that he had gained favors from his employer. He was Samantha’s trusted manservant, Emmanuel, a half vampire.
At the sight of her manservant, Samantha grew confused.
"Why are you here, Emmanuel? I asked you to stay in Acheron to do sothing for , didn’t I?" Her tone was calm and not indicating rudeness unlike how she usually spoke to people below her.
Although the man ca from the lower class, the vampiress had known him since childhood. He had proven how loyal he was to her which earned her trust, the reason why for Samantha, the man was like a loyal pet who would not hesitate to catch a bullet for her sake, the reason why she had grown fond of him over the years.
"I’m here to deliver an important invitation to you, milady. Lord Jero will be hosting a ball in his mansion tomorrow night. I know you won’t want to miss it." The man knew his mistress had adored Lord Jero as he was one of the most eligible bachelors in Acheron.
"What a coincidence," Alec spoke. "I happened to need you to do sothing for , Emmanuel. Dear Samantha, you won’t mind sharing your servant with your beloved cousin, will you?"
"Of course, you can ask him to do anything. He is quite good at most things."
"Take a seat, Emmanuel," Alec said which got the manservant surprised. Even Samantha didn’t expect it.
It was a rule always observed in the table of elites, especially in a rich vampire family, that servants, even the butlers who held the highest position in the mansion, should never sit together with their masters. It was considered unethical and deaning.
"There is no need, milord," refused Emmanuel.
"I insist. You have been a very loyal manservant to my precious cousin, so I think it is alright to let you sit with us even just for once."
Thinking that it was a step closer to the Everston and a life of an elite that he could only dream of, Emmanuel just stopped refusing and took a seat, rejoicing at the back of his mind.
"What is it you want him to do?" Samantha asked.
Alec stood and put his empty wine glass in front of Emmanuel. Before Samantha could guess what her cousin was up to, with the knife Alec had been holding all this ti which the two failed to notice, he stood behind the clueless servant and slashed his neck, then shoved the opened part of the man’s neck to the glass. The sound of blood pouring into the glass echoed in the dining hall.
Samantha’s eyes widened as her whole body turned frozen at the sight. She had witnessed a number of people being murdered, she wasn’t innocent herself, but to witness how her most trusted manservant was killed right before her eyes was a different thing.
The vampiress couldn’t calm herself and just found herself trembling in both anger and grief.
"Why did you do that?! He is not yours to kill! He is my servant, Alec!"
Alec looked at her darkly. "And my wife is not yours to touch."
