“? Why?”
Startled, Yujin asked, and Georgina’s eyes sparkled as she suddenly leaned in close. Surprised, Yujin instinctively stepped back, and she took a deep breath before launching into enthusiastic praise.
“Oh my! I’ve never seen an Oga as pretty as you. Ogas usually all look good, but I’ve never seen anyone as beautiful as Yujin. I like you. You’re really the best.”
“Um, well...”
Overwheld by the sudden complints right in front of him, Yujin stamred, not knowing how to respond. What on earth was going on? He knew he should say sothing, but nothing ca to mind. This was his first ti experiencing such a thing, and since she was from the Campbell family, he just felt dazed. Hesitating, he finally managed to speak.
“Th-thank you for the words... but why did you want to see ?”
Instead of answering, Georgina just smiled mysteriously. They exchanged vague smiles, and then Georgina continued brightly.
“Let’s et often from now on. I’ve wanted to get close to you for a while.”
“? Why?”
Again startled, he asked, and she answered as if it were the most natural thing.
“Well, we’re family now, aren’t we?”
Yujin was shocked by the unexpected word. To hear soone from the Campbell family call him family was sothing he couldn’t even imagine. Did I hear that right? Dumbfounded, he just stared, and Georgina seed to realize the mood, hesitating before cautiously asking.
“I’m sorry, was I too rude? I just got too excited.”
Her faint blush clearly showed the carefree nature of a teenager. Though still confused, Yujin could understand since she was just that age. He relaxed slightly and forced a sowhat awkward smile.
“It’s okay, I was just surprised...”
“Then... is it okay if I co visit?”
“Visit?”
Once again, she surprised Yujin. Wasn’t that a bit too fast? But Georgina was serious.
“You haven’t even seen Angela yet. I was really looking forward to today. Please, I want to get close.”
She clasped her hands as if praying, wearing a sincere expression. It reminded Yujin of how Angela looked when she pleaded, and he couldn’t bring himself to refuse. After hesitating, he spoke.
“I’ll ask Winston, and if it’s okay...”
“So if Winston agrees, it’s fine, right?”
Georgina’s voice rose an octave. Yujin thought for a mont, then nodded.
“If he agrees...”
Before he finished, Georgina visibly brightened and quickly clapped her hands.
“Thank you! How about tomorrow?”
“Tomorrow already?”
“Oh, that might be tiring. Then the day after?”
He had underestimated the overflowing energy and drive of a teenager. Seeing Yujin’s wide eyes, Georgina seed to take a step back but her alternative wasn’t much different. Seeing Yujin’s dilemma, she clasped her hands together again like praying.
“I really want to see Angela. Couldn’t I? Just for a little while, to have tea.”
She seed so sincere that Yujin grew uneasy, wondering if she had other intentions. But on the surface, there was no sign of suspicion.
Well, what could she gain from anyway...
He thought bitterly. Since he had nothing else to do, it should be fine. It would be good if Angela had a new playmate.
“All right then. Tomorrow...”
“Yay!”
Before he finished, Georgina raised her hands and shouted ‘hooray.’ She seed overly happy, which made Yujin feel embarrassed. He quickly added a condition.
“That’s if Winston agrees. If he says no...”
“I know, don’t worry. I understand perfectly.”
Grabbing Yujin’s hands excitedly, Georgina smiled slyly.
“But I think if you ask, Winston will definitely say yes.”
“Huh?”
Just as Yujin was about to ask what she ant, he sensed movent and turned his head to see a woman he hadn’t seen before standing there watching them.
“Um...”
Pale and bloodless, she spoke.
“It’s about ti to go. Gordon is looking for you, Georgina...”
Her whispering voice sounded completely drained of energy. Yujin flinched at the na, but Georgina ignored him, alternating her gaze between the two and said,
“Have you t? This is Yujin, Winston’s ◈ Nоvеlіgһт ◈ (Continue reading) partner. Yujin, this is Charlotte. She’s Gordon’s wife.”
After a casual introduction, Georgina cheerfully added,
“We’re planning tea ti with Yujin tomorrow. Is it okay if Charlotte cos too?”
“What?”
“Yes?”
Yujin and Charlotte reacted simultaneously. But Georgina continued coolly.
“I don’t have a license yet. It’d be nice if Charlotte could drive us. Wouldn’t it be good for all of us to get closer over tea?”
There was no way to resist the teenage drive. Looking at Charlotte’s embarrassed face, Yujin noticed she too looked uneasy.
“Well, then I’ll talk to the chauffeur...”
Charlotte murmured hesitantly, but Georgina frowned and replied,
“No. If you do that, Lady Katherine will hear about it right away.”
Of course, Lady Katherine would definitely oppose.
Yujin thought bitterly. She would never allow a lowborn orphan like him and his daughter to mingle.
Still, he couldn’t understand why Georgina insisted on getting close to him like this. Was it just teenage rebellion?
She doesn’t seem like a bad kid...
Charlotte blinked in embarrassnt and spoke quietly.
“Let’s just go, Georgina. Gordon’s waiting... I’ll excuse myself now, Yujin. It was a wonderful party.”
“Thank you. Take care going back. Goodbye, Georgina.”
With her timid voice, Charlotte gave the standard farewell. Yujin murmured the sa lines. Georgina, with no choice, hurriedly wrapped things up.
“I’ll call tomorrow morning. See you then!”
As Georgina waved while turning with Charlotte, Yujin awkwardly smiled and waved back.
She must be rembering to get Winston’s permission... Yujin lowered his hand discreetly but could no longer confirm with her. They vanished from sight in an instant, leaving him alone.
“Wow, amazing! Crazy!”
“Georgina!”
As soon as they were alone, Georgina’s excited shout startled Charlotte, who tried to hold her back.
“What are you saying? You can’t say that.”
“Yes, yes, I’ll be careful. I’ll speak politely. Oh, this is unbelievable. Such a wonderful person.”
Like acting in a play, Georgina raised her fingertips and recited lines, then quickly changed tone.
“Isn’t she an incredible beauty? I’ve never seen soone so pretty. No wonder Winston would risk his life for her.”
“It’s better not to ntion that...”
Charlotte warned with a still tired voice. Georgina responded with a distracted “Yeah, yeah,” then followed Charlotte to the entrance. Seeing Gordon standing far off, Georgina leaned slightly on Charlotte and whispered quietly.
“Tomorrow we’re going shopping together, okay? I’ll tell Gordon, so just agree with .”
“Georgina, I...”
“Uncle!”
Charlotte tried to speak but Georgina ignored her and called out loudly for Gordon, running off. Left behind, Charlotte sighed with a worried expression.
What on earth is making that girl so excited?
“What’s taking so long? So slow.”
Opening the door to the backseat, Gordon harshly scolded his wife as she approached. Charlotte felt a headache coming on and whispered an apology. Watching them both, Georgina quickly interrupted and clung to Gordon’s arm.
“Uncle, so it’s okay tomorrow? Can I go shopping with Auntie?”
“You have a chauffeur at ho.”
“Lady Katherine nags so much.”
Georgina acted spoiled and pouted. Gordon smirked and nodded in agreent.
“Take her to the departnt store tomorrow.”
After speaking gruffly, Gordon got into the backseat. Georgina patted Charlotte’s arm comfortingly, then let go and sat in the front passenger seat. Charlotte sighed softly and got into the car as the chauffeur closed the door and the car drove off.
