Chapter 6 - You Bumpkin
"Achoo", Chen Feng sneezed, perfectly oblivious to the fact that a certain CEO she had called a bumpkin other day had now sealed her fate and was determined make her his wife.
"You alright Feng’er", Fu Liling asked.
"Of course. Idiot! You are the one being hospitalized here", Chen Feng said placing a hand over her forehead. "Hmm. It’s better now"
Chen Feng looked down to see her best friend Fu Liling, her only support through her difficult ti. It would be right to say that if not for Fu Liling’s financial and emotional support through her difficult ti, Chen Feng wouldn’t be alive today. She might have ended her life. Especially at the ti when Fu Jianguo abandoned her, she was broken. A warm smile spread in Chen Feng’s eyes as she glanced at Fu Liling.
Fu Liling was cute. With mid-length black hair and pale round baby face, she was the perfect example of innocent beauty. Her cheeks held a tinge of red. Fu family held good genes. All their offsprings were beautiful.
"I’m alright. Stop being my mother. One mother is already more than enough.", Fu Liling said laughingly while opening the lunch box, "And what is it you brought? Porridge?", Fu Liling made a face.
"I made an extra effort to make it as bad tasting as I could"
"You are such a bit*h"
"Isn’t it why we are best friends? Because we both are bitc*es"
Chen Feng made sure that Fu Liling finished her porridge. And despite her relentless refusals, she forced the whole bowl down her throat. In the end, Fu Liling was literally crying.
"Your cooking is horrible! I’ve not tasted anything worse than this in my entire life!"
"Don’t worry. Next ti I’ll make sure to make it even worse just for you"
"I hate you"
"Good. This is a punishnt. So you won’t be getting careless again"
Fu Liling had gotten drunk during the engagent party of Chen Mian and Fu Jianguo and ended up falling in the swimming pool. If it was not for Chen Feng noticing the noise caused by her, she would have drowned and possibly died. Even the possibility of it scared Chen Feng to no end.
Fu Liling was silent for a while as if contemplating whether to say her next words or not. But the fact was eating her inside and she desperately wanted to let it out. And there was no one other than her best friend Chen Feng who would believe her.
"It was Chen Mian..."
"What?"
"She pushed I was not sure first that it was her but then Gu Chiantao also said that it was her..."
Chen Feng fell in disbelief.
"Are you sure?"
"I rember soone pushing but I couldn’t see the person face. Later I dismissed it assuming I must have been being delusional because of all that alcohol. But Gu Chiantao said she saw Chen Mian pushing ", Fu Liling said quietly. She knew that it must be quiet a shock for Chen Feng.
Chen Feng was acquainted with Gu Chiantao. Gu Chiantao had never lied before and owing to her personality, she wouldn’t have said that with certainty if she was not sure herself.
"How could she."
Chen Feng was infuriated. Ever since she was young, Chen Mian had never spared any effort to make life miserable for her. Now she even started targeting the people Chen Feng loved and cared for? But this ti she wouldn’t let her win! She wouldn’t let her hurt anyone she cared about!
"I’m not going to let this one go. I could have silently tolerated if it was . But if she dares to hurt my friends..."
"Feng’er stop!", Fu Liling grabbed her hand.
"Who does she think she is? Pushing you into the water? What if you have died? What if she tries sothing again."
"I know", Fu Liling said silently, " But nobody is going to believe us"
Chen Feng looked at Fu Liling and took a deep breath to control her anger. What Fu Liling said was right. Nobody was going to believe them. Specially Fu Jianguo who would believe Chen Mian than his eyes.
"Liling, take care of your health. Do not stress yourself. Just rember that I’ll not let her or anyone hurt you."
"But promise you wouldn’t do anything before informing ?", Fu Liling was worried about her more than herself. her friend had a capacity to do such reckless things.
"I promise"
Once Chen Feng was outside, she dialed a number. Of course, she lied to Fu Liling.
"Is it Gu Chiantao?"
"Yes?", Gu Chiantao a little confused voice said from the other line.
"I’m Chen Feng, Fu Liling friend. Can we et tomorrow?"
"Of course", she answered readily as if she was expecting her call.
Chen Feng texted her the location and ti of the eting. She needed to collect evidence. But first, she wanted to check the validity of the news.
anwhile, Li Luxian secretary Zhang Xin was in cold sweats.
"Quick! Quick! guys", he urged his subordinates who were tirelessly going through long lists of guests that entered the club that night.
He took a handkerchief and wiped his forehead.
And that ti, his phone rang. His heart jolted out of his chest to his throat. He had a hard ti swallowing it back into his stomach. He took out his phone with sweaty fingers. The phone danced in his hands and he finally managed to click the answer button with trembling fingers.
"M-Mr Li?"
"You found her?"
"Mr. Li my boys are working diligently..."
"Found her or not?"
Secretary Zhang Xin gulped.
"Not yet Mr. Li but I’ll find her soon"
Li Luxian raked his hand through his hair. The gesture looked so cool and seductive on him that one could stop his eyes from being glued to his every move. Li Luxian was handso. Coupled with his status, he was the most desirable bachelor in the country.
He was anxious. If his father was to find that girl before him, his whole plan would be ruined.
"I’m giving you just one more hour.", saying it Li Luxian cut the phone abruptly while his secretary silently cried out tears of blood.

Chen Feng was laying lazily on her couch and stuffing her mouth with french fries while watching a tiger tearing a deer into pieces on Animal Planet. Her long brown hair was tied into a bun. Her that impeccable beauty still made her a sight to behold even in her pajamas.
It was when a noise brought her out of her indulgence.
Ding Dong!
She frowned and glanced at the clock.
9 pm.
Who could be at this hour?
Chen Feng turned on the screen to find a man standing on her door. His face was not visible but he was wearing a formal dress, a suit, black in coloras if he was so tycoon. Another man was standing beside him holding so files with a reverent temperant.
Must be his subordinate.
It was always good to take precautions.
So she took out her revolver and hid it in her belt. She walked to the door with reluctant steps. She had a feeling she had seen that man sowhere but she couldn’t exactly pinpoint where.
If he was soone who was here on the orders of her family or soone sent by Zhao Liwei, she might be in trouble.
She opened the door with a jerk and her eyes widened once they landed on that familiar face with those soul capturing chocolate marble eyes that were shimring with intensity.
"Bumpkin?"
Zhang Xin vomited Blood.
