Capítulo 1836: Chapter 154: The Coup in Progress

The royal banquet had just begun when Franz sensed sothing was amiss. In the serene Royal Palace, an ominous aura pervaded the atmosphere.

“Who allowed you to barge in here?”

“Where are your manners?”

“Get out!”

Upon seeing the guards enter the venue, the major nobles erupted in anger. So of the more hot-tempered nobles even kicked them on the spot.

The chaotic scene further inflad Caesar IV’s temper. A carefully plotted coup was not sothing to be played with and ruined in this manner.

“Silence!”

“We’ve just received a confidential report that an assassin has infiltrated the banquet. The Palace Guard is rely here to hunt down the assassin. Please bear with us.”

Duke Newfoundland imdiately jumped in to save the situation.

Those present at the banquet were all influential nobles within the Empire. If they were all offended, even a successful coup would lose its aning.

After a brief ntal struggle, the rational side of Caesar IV also realized the inappropriateness of the situation.

It seed that his coup was a bit too hasty, and the chosen location was also inappropriate.

There was no other way; it was his first ti doing such a thing. The decision was made completely in a fit of anger without any prior ticulous planning.

Vaguely, Caesar IV also felt that sothing was off about himself recently. He beca irritable, his temper unusually high, and at the slightest provocation, he wanted to fly into a rage.

Discovering that it was useless, the intense anger in his heart was hard to suppress with reason.

For this, he even sought help, but unfortunately, everyone agreed that his bad temper was due to lack of rest and would be better with a few more days of rest.

The issue of the mysterious box is still under investigation. Until a solution is found, the fact that he was caught unawares must not be leaked.

He couldn’t guarantee what those in the conservative faction would do if they found out.

The rubber stamp is certainly better for young monarchs.

There have been precedents on the Continent of Aslante where power ministers deposed a king and supported a prince to the throne.

With “pursuing the assassin” as a cover, the chaotic scene finally quieted down.

However, the original plan was also disrupted. After the earlier upheaval, rationality prevailed in Caesar IV, and he dared not make arrests in front of the major nobles.

It was initially just a pretext, and naturally, the investigation yielded nothing. As the Palace Guard withdrew, the venue once again beca lively.

However, after the earlier episode, the atmosphere could not be restored. The nobles said nothing, but they felt very uncomfortable inside.

To have such a mix-up with an assassin at this kind of occasion. If Caesar III hadn’t been assassinated here years ago, everyone would not have been so forgiving.

“Your Highness, has His Majesty’s expression always been so expressive?”

Franz asked in astonishnt.

During the search for the assassin, Caesar IV’s expression kept changing, and sweat even appeared on his forehead, far from the calm deanor a monarch should have.

“Earl Franz, I think you must have seen wrong. My royal brother was very calm earlier, with a smile always on his face.”

Archduke Madelena said, blatantly lying.

Many people present noticed Caesar IV’s change in deanor.

However, everyone was a seasoned politician, and no one foolishly jumped out to expose him.

The only one who dared to completely ignore this was soone inexperienced like him.

If taken seriously, he could be imdiately charged with the cri of presuming to comnt on the monarch.

Making an offense directly against the Emperor, if caught by soone, even if he didn’t die, he would have a tough ti.

But since it was Franz asking, everyone couldn’t take it seriously because of Hudson, much less report it.

While speaking, Madelena also glanced at Caesar IV a few tis, clearly noticing sothing.

The small incident quickly passed, and the altered banquet soon ended as the various nobles took their leave.

Early the next morning, while washing up, Count Orlan hurriedly arrived.

“Franz, the situation has changed!

After last night’s banquet, His Majesty summoned the Six Ministers for an ergency eting, and they haven’t returned all night.

It seems they might be detained!”

There’s a rule that no one stays overnight in the Imperial Palace.

Unless during warti or significant upheavals, overnight etings are rare.

Even if it were necessary, an attendant would go ho to report safety.

“Count, are you saying there was a palace coup last night?”

Franz asked, slightly nervous.

He had only co for the coronation ceremony, suddenly being involved in a coup was clearly beyond his capabilities.

“There’s an eighty percent possibility!

The search for an assassin at yesterday’s banquet was itself very unusual.

Ever since Caesar III was assassinated, all palace banquets have prohibited attendants from entering the venue.

Those eligible to attend are at least part of the interdiate aristocracy, all familiar faces.

If there was indeed a coup, then it’s our turn to choose sides next.

The Hollis family’s influence in the court is limited, so they won’t be targeted heavily, but your Koslow Family is different.

Your father’s influence in the military is quite significant, and his stance could sowhat influence the developnt of the situation.

At a ti like this, you mustn’t express any reckless opinions!”

Count Orlan advised.

Caring for his grandson-in-law was one aspect, and he was even more afraid of his family being passively dragged into the turmoil.

The Koslow Family has Hudson; even if they choose the wrong side, they have enough tolerance.

The Hollis family is different; although they’ve returned to the ranks of major nobles, they lack sufficient strength and are at the bottom in the decision-making layer.
