Chapter 1395: Chapter 270, every 5 li set 1 beacon, every 10 li establish 1 mound, every 30 li build 1 fort, every 100 li construct 1 city_3
As for the initial suppression of the Skeleton Society rebellion, that hardly warrants ntion. Cult mbers have no human rights, and their life or death has never mattered to anyone.
It hadn’t been a concern in the past, and Hudson certainly wouldn’t touch it now.
After all, the nearby Human Kingdoms are all aligned with the Kingdom. There are no major conflicts between them, and certainly no motivation to incite an internal racial war.
Command Headquarters.
“Marshal, we just received news that the nearby orc tribes are all beginning to retreat!”
Tom’s report instantly overturned all of Hudson’s previous combat deploynts.
With the enemy gone, the subsequent battle plans naturally couldn’t proceed.
Winning without fighting is undeniably an excellent strategy militarily, but the officers present showed no signs of joy.
No war ant no military achievents.
Without military achievents, what qualifications would they have to gain land grants?
Hudson was well aware of their grievances, but he couldn’t conjure war accomplishnts out of thin air.
If the orcs wanted to flee, they couldn’t very well send the army deep into pursuit!
Right now, the Kingdom’s Army had the upper hand over the enemies, but once they ventured deep into the grasslands, the situation would completely reverse.
The long logistical supply lines would beco the army’s greatest vulnerability. If the enemy resorted to grassland guerrilla warfare, the army’s supply lines would undoubtedly face critical issues.
Facing the eager gazes of those around him, Hudson imdiately shook his head and said, “The strategic goal of this battle is to compress the enemy’s living space.
Since they’ve chosen to retreat, let them keep retreating. I want to see how far they can go!
Send out orders: Starting from the current defensive line, for every five miles outward build a signal beacon, every ten miles erect a watchtower, every thirty miles construct a fort, and every hundred miles establish a city!
All units must promptly report the materials and manpower required in their respective jurisdictions for the new defense system construction, so that the Command Headquarters can submit them collectively to the Kingdom Governnt.”
The plan had been outlined. As for funding and resources for building the defense lines, those were problems for the Kingdom Governnt to solve.
As Commander of the Army, managing countless concerns wasn’t necessarily a good thing.
Theoretically, following Hudson’s plan and advancing layer by layer, annexing the grasslands was rely a matter of ti.
Once dense fortifications appeared on the grasslands, the cavalry of the orcs, once so proud of their mobility, would lose their forr advantage.
Unable to breach the Kingdom’s defensive lines, the different tribes would inevitably scramble to compete for survival space amongst each other.
Essentially, this was an overt maneuver to incite internal conflict within the orcs.
A flawless plan for exterminating the orcs by logic, the Kingdom Governnt would find no grounds for opposition.
Even if soone objected, those around them would likely urge cooperation, striving to complete the grand endeavor of extinguishing the Orc Empire as soon as possible.
…
Deep within the grasslands, after a series of brutal battles, the leaders of various tribes who successfully returned to their strongholds gathered once more.
But unlike the previously rigid hierarchy, the current Orc Council seed much more chaotic.
The once-high-and-mighty royal families now lacked their forr grandeur.
Strength determines the right to speak, and the heavily depleted royal families and noble clans had lost their edge over the other tribes.
So tribes that had preserved their strength relatively well even boasted comprehensive capabilities surpassing certain unfortunate noble clans.
To maintain control, they had no choice but to absorb new mbers into their fold. However, this only served to further fragnt the already divided Orc Empire’s power.
The Imperial Court, which once dominated the Empire’s destiny, had now beco a laughingstock. The diminished strength of the Four Royal Families left them unable to command the other tribes.
“Everyone keeps quarreling endlessly, so I suggest we adopt a parliantary system moving forward.
Each tribe present gets one vote, and for unresolved disputes, we resolve them through direct voting.”
Chief Stark suggested cheerfully.
As more tribes enter the decision-making process, clinging to the titles of royal family and noble clan would only invite ridicule.
As newcors, the Clan of Minotaurs bore no historical burdens and saw no issue overturning the table.
“No!”
“Chief Stark, your thinking is all too simplistic. If we abandon the titles of royal family and noble clan, how do we keep commanding the tribes?
Especially when it cos to the Human Race, the enemy is ambitiously seeking to annex the Empire. Making such drastic changes now would only expose our vulnerabilities!
If the Alpha People realize how weak we currently are, they’ll surely continue their offensive.
All tribes are badly wounded, and the Empire’s national strength is greatly diminished, leaving us utterly unfit for ongoing combat.
If we keep losing, we’ll be forced to abandon the grasslands altogether and retreat once again to hill and highland regions for refuge.
You all know what those locations are like. Don’t even ntion recovery and rejuvenation; it’ll be hard enough to even sustain our current strength!”
The Hawkman Emperor imdiately refuted.
Though they’d managed to escape intact this ti, their situation was already dire after being severely crippled during the last grassland war. Their true state was no better than the other three royal families.
The only advantage they could rely on was simple: they could fly!
The royal titles weren’t rely honorifics; they ca with substantial benefits.
With their titles intact, as the Empire’s sole air force, they’d surely receive preferential treatnt. Even if interests were redistributed, the other three royal families’ share would be cut, not theirs.
If the system were overturned, however, all bets were off.
In a situation where everyone was on equal footing, gaining special treatnt would require the collective support of all tribes—a nearly impossible feat.
Forget lofty ideals of unity; in the Orc Empire, tribal interests have always taken precedence over imperial interests.
“The Hawkman Emperor is correct. The current situation is extrely delicate; stability is better than change.
The enemy hasn’t launched an assault yet because they’re uncertain of our true state and dare not venture into the grasslands recklessly.
We should bluff for as long as we can. Every extra day we stall is another day for the Empire to regain its strength!”
The Lionman King advised sincerely.
Abandoning royal titles may be easy, but reclaiming them later would be exceedingly difficult.
Although their strength was lacking for the ti being, as long as they retained their titles, they could find ways to restore the royal families’ rightful status once their power recovered.
