Chapter 1439: Chapter 1396: The Gods Who Are Bored Out of Their Minds

“We are a Divine Descendant Clan with Divine Blood flowing through our veins. How could we possibly be unqualified? If even we are not qualified, then there are hardly any who would be!” the girl retorted, sowhat indignant.

“Divine Blood?” The man laughed, “Do you know how many True Gods serve His Majesty the God King?”

“How many?”

“Nearly a hundred.” The man gestured toward the sky.

“How is that possible?” The girl was sowhat bewildered.

“Why wouldn’t it be? It’s a very reasonable number,” the young man said calmly.

“But…” The girl wanted to say sothing more, but she didn’t know what to say at the mont.

“So you need to understand your place. With the Divine Blood you inherit, it’s not difficult to secure a certain position under the rule of His Majesty the God King, but to get what you want by joining the battle is nearly impossible.”

“Why is it impossible?” The girl was still not content. Possessing power inevitably brings status, but having status often doesn’t equate to controlling power.

“His Majesty the God King has divided the domains he rules into twelve major battle zones, each managed by three True Gods. Under such circumstances, if you joined, you would at best attain a middle-class position, which does not et your expectations.”

“My clan has seven Legends.”

“So what? Having strength doesn’t necessarily an you’ll gain the corresponding status. Although Divine Court is vast, there are only so many positions to fill.

There are more beings suited to fill these positions than the positions themselves. Without a True God above you, what makes you think you can compete with the relatives of His Majesty’s True Gods?”

“Doesn’t His Majesty the God King care about such matters?”

The girl understood her ntor’s point. The True Gods in charge of battle zones would surely place their blood kin or trusted followers in key departnts, while those unrelated to them, even if able, would hardly attain a position.

Hence, without powerful backing within Divine Court, joining its battle ranks would only an being a pawn at the rcy of others, unable to control one’s own destiny.

“How do you think His Majesty the God King can manage such things? Isn’t it the sa no matter who is in charge?”

The man looked at the girl with a mocking gaze. Nepotism and factionalism are inevitable in any power when it grows to a certain scale.

“As long as it’s not too outrageous, His Majesty will not interfere with such matters. Moreover, the people appointed by the deities are no fools. When abilities are similar, it’s an easy choice of whom to pick.”

“Divine Court, indeed!”

Hearing what her teacher had said, the girl could only sigh silently in her heart. In the domain where she was born, her clan was a top-tier noble force, even the True God Church gave them due regard. But in Divine Court, it was different.

With their clan’s scale, joining Divine Court would only lead to a demotion to second or even third-class status, unable to maintain their original standing.

“Mikayla, sotis you need to learn to restrain your desires. Sotis, in trying to gain more, you end up losing.

The unification of Divine Court is an unstoppable trend. What your clan should be considering is not how to seize a higher position during this ti but how to survive.

You should know about the Dragon Gods of Divine Court. Their combat strength far surpasses that of ordinary True Gods, they are the pillars of Divine Court, yet as proportional to their combat power is their greed. Your Divine Blood family is quite the prey in their eyes.”

“Dragon Gods?” The ntion of this by her ntor sent a chill down the girl’s spine. The Dragon Gods of the Nine Heavens Divine Court were indeed notorious, though not for any good reputation. Their greed, penchant for destruction, plundering, and slaughter were well-known.

However, what brought so solace was that their malevolence targeted forces outside Divine Court. Within the Divine Court, they were often broad-minded and benevolent.

“Your clan needs to align itself with Divine Court when the next phase of expansion begins. Otherwise, when the enemy is at the gates, your clan will likely not be spared. It’s possible that right now, so Dragon Gods have already marked your clan in their little books.”

The man spoke with a joke-like tone, but his words left the girl cold. Though ant in jest, it was a very real possibility.

“Teacher, can we go to Xena Pus now?”

“Of course, no problem. As long as you want, we can go anyti. But once there, if you wish to draw attention, you must reveal your identity.”

“I know that.”

After that, the girl, eager to proceed, quickly pushed her teacher, and the pair soon boarded a floating ship bound for Xena Pus. Aside from the true high echelons of Divine Court, nobody knew when the next expansion would occur. It could very well be at any mont.

Aong!

The elegant White Dragon, clad in frost armor, left a trail of sparkling ice crystals across the Sky Do, its subtle Dragon Prestige radiating faintly. But those fortunate enough to witness this scene would naturally not be perturbed by such a slight show of dragon might.

“Is that Xena Pus?”

Aboard a Floating Ship nearly a thousand ters from end to end, a girl whose eyes shone with golden divine light glanced in awe at the Giant Dragon flying past the edge of the ship and towards its destination.

“Yes, that’s Xena Pus, the dwelling of the Gods,” replied the man beside the girl, affirming her observation, “Over there, if your luck is good enough, you might just encounter a Deity taking a leisurely stroll to relax.”

“If you’re even luckier, you might receive guidance from a Deity, or even a gift that could change your Destiny,” chid in a chubby, sowhat rcenary-looking fellow, laughing as he joined the conversation.

“Can such things really happen? How could a True God possibly converse with a Mortal?”

Mikayla stood on the deck, scanning her surroundings with a hint of incomprehension.

Even though almost all who boarded this ship were far from ordinary, and even sight of her, a Divine Descendant with extrely high Divine Blood Purity, did not perturb them, it didn’t change the fact that the vast majority of them were still Mortals.

How could such lowly beings, once stepping onto Xena Pus, have the chance to converse with a deity? Such statents could only be fabricated tales.

“Although this is my twentieth ti heading to Xena Pus, I have never exchanged even a single word with any Deity.

But I can tell you with certainty that there are indeed those lucky enough to converse with the Gods, and their number is not scarce, let alone those who receive gifts; that’s far from the stuff of Legends.”

Looking at the man, who spoke with utter conviction, Mikayla couldn’t help but wonder if the problem lay with herself. After all, she was on her way to the very abode of the Gods.

With so many deities residing in one place, so intersection with Mortals didn’t seem to be too strange a notion.

“Actually, there’s an unconfird rumor, true or false I know not.

The ruler of the Divine Court, Master of Xena Pus, King of all Gods, the great His Majesty Muria, is said to sotis send down an Avatar to grant favors to a lucky few.

It’s said that the avatars of His Majesty Muria mostly take the form of generous elders, knowledgeable and with a mild temperant.”

“The great His Majesty Muria would send down an Avatar? That’s impossible, right?”

At this, doubt crept onto Mikayla’s face, suspecting that the person beside her was soone prone to tall tales, for how could the ruler of nearly a thousand Domains, the God King, possibly have the leisure for such trivial acts?

“Teacher, is there any truth to this?”

Although she thought the chubby man was spouting nonsense, the girl still clung to a sliver of hope and turned to inquire of her ntor.

She hoped that the God King had enough idle ti to send down an Avatar, and that she had the chance to beco one in a million, the super lucky individual who could talk directly with the God King.

“Which are you asking about? If it’s about being lucky enough to encounter an Avatar of a True God, then I can tell you, it’s true.

But as for the God King sending down an Avatar, I don’t know about that. I have only heard rumors, and logically speaking, that sort of thing is likely just that—rumors.”

“Oh, okay.”

Hearing her Teacher say this, the girl nodded, the faint hope in her heart diminishing, though not entirely extinguished.

“That being said, girl, what brings you to Xena Pus?” At this point, the businessman, appearing out of place, interjected once again, interrupting the girl’s thoughts.

“It’s none of your business,” Mikayla turned away, sowhat unwilling to engage with this man; although she was aware he might not be an ordinary individual, there were no ordinary beings aboard the ship she was on now.

“Don’t be so absolute in your statents, now. The business you have in Xena Pus might just coincide with mine,” the heavyset rchant spoke with a cheerful smile.

“It has nothing to do with you.”

“You never know. Even if it’s not related to , I can probably give you so advice. Co on, tell . If you don’t say, I’ll have to guess.

You appear to be a Divine Descendant with Divine Blood, but you don’t give off a divine Qi that strikes

as familiar. This indicates you’re not a Divine Descendant from the Divine Court, but from outside, isn’t it?”

“You…” The girl wanted to say sothing, but the man in front of her continued unabated.

“By your expression, it seems I’ve guessed correctly. Since you are a Divine Descendant from outside the Divine Court, then your goal must be to join the Divine Court. Tsk, a wise choice, though a little late, not too smart.”
