Chapter 1185: Chapter 1172: Do You Know Whose Territory This Is?
The bustling, prosperous city, once full of unending streams of people and ceaseless traffic, had transford into a hell on earth filled with lantations, curses, screams, and sobs. Flas erupted throughout the city, punctuated by intermittent explosions.
This was the scenario Karor witnessed as she rushed over from afar, and then her gaze fell upon the tentacled, giant eyeballs rampaging through the city.
These were monsters whose very forms were shockingly repugnant, eliciting disgust and fear—and they differed markedly from the demonic spirits humanity had co to know.
It could be clearly determined that these devastating creatures, wreaking havoc in the city, did not belong to the sa ecosystem as the evil spirits, not even from the sa world.
However, while Karor was aware of the true nature of these giant eyeballs, the exorcists who followed her had no such awareness; the concept was completely alien to them.
In the minds of these exorcists, the rampant evil spirits in the world might indicate an issue with their world itself, a change in the environnt that spawned these human-harming monsters.
“Evil God’s Followers!” Karor uttered the concept she learned from that great being who had granted her strength.
“What?” The exorcists standing beside her looked at her with a puzzled expression.
“Nothing.” At this mont, explaining the origin of these monsters to her companions was pointless, and the only thing she could do was to caution them, “Be careful of these monsters, every single one is incredibly strong, unlike the evil spirits we usually suppress.”
“You don’t need to tell us, we’ve already noticed that.”
The exorcists, who had arrived in the human city to cull the blood and souls of humans, didn’t bother to conceal their aura, so the countenances of the great exorcists who hurried over were extrely grim, even somber.
“Try your best to rescue the remaining humans in the city, avoid confrontation with these monsters; we are no match for them, we can’t expel such a large number of them.”
The president of the Exorcism Association, who had led many demon slayers here, looked rather distressed—they represented the pinnacle of human individual strength.
Yet, even these elite among humans were powerless against a group of creatures slaughtering humans; they could only choose to save the remaining humans.
…
“Grandpa, I’m scared.” In a tightly sealed space, where only a dim light seeped through a crack, a deliberately softened childish voice spoke up.
“Don’t be scared, let’s just hide a little longer, the exorcists will be here soon, they will drive out all the monsters, and then we’ll be safe,” the seemingly forced calm of the elderly voice assured the child.
“But when will they co?” the child asked timidly, yet with a hint of hope.
“Soon, very soon, be good, don’t make any more noise.”
The child obediently sealed their mouth and remained quiet, but the surrounding environnt did not beco peaceful; there was the rustle of sothing abnormally viscous spreading over the walls and floor.
Listening to this sound, the elder and youngster hiding in the cramped space trembled uncontrollably, despite seeing nothing—the fear was an instinctual response from their bodies.
In an old, weathered two-story building, an Eye Monster, whose vast body was comparable in size to the building itself, peered inside. Its five eyeballs, connected by flesh-like connective tissue, were filled with mockery.
Even in the sa world, the reality perceived by different beings was distinct, and within the realm of the extraordinary, the worlds seen by different classes were even more divergent.
rely physically hiding from sight was utterly inadequate to escape the monsters’ gaze, so when the giant Eye Monster extended its tentacles into the house and, after a brief search, pulled out an elderly man and a young child, both filled with sheer panic.
“Such fragile and insignificant creatures!”
Although it was a monster helping the Evil God destroy the world, it wasn’t just a brute force weapon that only knew slaughter and destruction—it had intelligence and knew how to tornt weaker beings for its own amusent.
“Aren’t you going to plead with ? This might just let your descendant survive.”
The obscure Soul Sound rose in the old man’s mind, and then the wrinkle-covered elder raised his head to look in shock at the massive monster before him.
“Why do you look at
with such strange eyes? Do you think we are witless beasts with re brute strength?”
Perhaps out of displeasure, or maybe just to vent, the grotesque creature extended a relatively thin tentacle, and violently tore off the old man’s thigh, dark red blood gushing from the jagged wound.
“Ah—” The old man, who had never experienced such pain in his life, scread aloud, but gradually, he managed to suppress the physical agony with the resilience honed through a life of hardships, for beside him was his grandson.
“Puchi!” The monster stuffed the thigh it had torn from the old man into its maw, blood and flesh spurting out during the grueso mastication. After swallowing, the monster offered its evaluation,
“Bland and tasteless flesh, unworthy of savoring. Perhaps your soul is worth tasting.”
As the old man watched more tentacles reaching towards him, intending to tear his body apart, a slight smile appeared on his face. He knew that pleading with a creature devoid of humanity was utterly futile.
The monster’s continued interest in feasting on his flesh ant it had such a need. If the monster made the first move, it ant his grandson could survive a little longer, perhaps long enough for an exorcist to arrive.
Clang~
The tentacle poised to tear off the old man’s other thigh didn’t fall, as a streak of red slashed through the air, cleanly severing the tentacle, with inky black blood spurting out.
In the old man’s surprised and delighted gaze, he saw a female warrior with long hair dancing in the flas, wielding her weapon to sever another tentacle and save his grandson.
“Finally, a powerful individual from a weak race!” The Eye Demon Lord, having lost two tentacles, did not scream in agony; such wounds were inconsequential to it.
The five eyes of varying sizes and colors gazed together at the female figure standing in flas, with one hand holding a sword and the other cradling a fragile youngling of her sa kind.
“But still, too weak!” The Eye Demon Lord made no effort to hide its disappointnt. The female controlling the power of flas—though she seed special and strong compared to those it had slaughtered—still seed of little value.
“Go! Don’t worry about .”
Despite the female demon hunter’s formidable appearance and frequent ntions in the newspapers, compared to the massive monster before them, the disparity in strength was clear. Thus, the old man, who was ensnared by the tentacles, cried out resolutely.
“Grandpa!” The child, who had long suppressed his fear, finally burst into tears. Looking helplessly and sadly at the demon slayer who was holding him, he pleaded,
“Please, big sister, save my grandpa. I can’t be without him; he’s the only family I have left.”
Hearing the boy’s tearful plea, Karor’s grip on her longsword tightened, and the spirit runes on her face resembling scales shone even more radiantly.
Reason told her to turn around and run, to quickly escape, leaving the monster behind, but her emotions made her hesitate and swing her sword again.
“Humph humph humph, pitiful creature, comndable courage.”
Seeing the female charging at it with another of her kind, the Eye Demon Lord mocked with a sinister laugh. Tentacles hanging below its main body rose, lashing out at Karor with a powerful force that produced piercing sonic booms through the air…
Smack!
After just a few exchanges, the valiant demon slayer Karor was struck by a tentacle and thrown to the ground, kicking up a small cloud of dust.
“Cough!”
From a pained cough, thick blood welled up in her throat, trickling from the corner of her mouth and dripping onto the ground. Lying on her side, her back a blurry ss of flesh and blood, Karor estimated that the bones in that area must all be broken.
And yet, even with such grievous injuries, the child she had rescued was well protected, unhard.
“Your actions are so foolish, I scarcely know how to comnt.”
Hearing the familiar voice lacking any emotion, yet clearly disparaging her, Karor couldn’t help but smile, “Don’t you have anything else to do? Spying on
all the ti?”
“Ha!” A towering presence answered her with a cold laugh, “Senseless. You’d better pay attention to your current situation. You have successfully drawn the attention of all the monsters in the city.”
“Aren’t you going to help ? The owner of all my possessions, you’re just going to watch
be eaten alive by this ugly monster? My death is not important, but it will be your reputation that’s tarnished.”
Karor got up from the ground, gazing at the monster that was closing in, feeling no anxiety in her heart. However, her provocative words received no response.
“The brave, unyielding soul, the flavor should not be too bad.” The monster, now seeing Karor as its next al, reached out its tentacles towards her again.
Just as the girl braced herself, teeth clenched, ready to face off against a creature far beyond her league, a searing heat spread around her. Then, an arrogant voice echoed across the sky of the city on the brink of destruction,
“Which idiot’s minion doesn’t know whose territory this is? Who dares to co here to reap lives, tired of living?”
