Chapter 813: Chapter 219: Three Matters

Moving the location shooting ahead was a wise decision. Without so many songs needing to be perford on site, the two lead actors could adjust fully and both began to recover. However, just as one issue was resolved, another erged. For so reason, the crew was targeted by journalists, with a report allegedly about the Miracle Director’s new work first published in a local newspaper, then quickly reprinted by other papers.

This was inevitable. After all, the location was in the suburbs of Nashville, which is the capital of Tennessee. Plus, with Johnny Cash, an influential public figure even praised by the President, having passed away here just months ago, many locals were still commorating him, so the crew was bound to be noticed.

But since it was chosen as the location for filming, Adrian was undoubtedly prepared, so before the news fully fernted, the trailer for La Vie en Rose was officially aired on major TV channels.

The ti has already entered November, and various films aid at Thanksgiving and Christmas are ready for release. Likewise, films targeting the Oscars have begun promotion, and it’s normal for La Vie en Rose to air its trailer now. Anyway, as soon as it cos out, everyone knows Adrian plans to elevate another Miracle Girl, Sophie, to the Oscar’s Best Actress throne.

Considering the records he’s set in recent years, this ti he seems to want to continue supporting his woman, and it seems… very possible! At least so critics admit that upon seeing the Little Skylark on screen, they couldn’t draw any connection between her and Sophie Marceau. From appearance to deanor, she looks as if she’s a completely different person. If you look closely, you can recognize her, but if you don’t pay close attention, even if she seems familiar, you’d still think it’s soone else.

It’s well-known that in many people’s eyes, whether an actor has acting skills boils down to whether they look like sobody else when performing. But everyone is different, so when so believe an actor has skill, others may find them lacking. Therefore, a unified standard is necessary.

We won’t elaborate on specific standards, but an important criterion is definitely whether they “look” like another person on cara. This is why biopic roles and characters like those who are intellectually challenged, disabled, or mad often win awards, as there are reference points. Now, although La Vie en Rose hasn’t been released, Sophie has already achieved a stunning impression through the trailer, and it’s a biopic of a famous French singer. With Adrian’s thods, it may very well continue to shine.

That’s why this trailer attracted much attention, and the possible new film being made by the Miracle Director in the suburbs of Nashville got temporarily overlooked. By the ti so reporters ca to their senses, the crew had already completed the location shooting and returned to Los Angeles. Want to explore the film studio? Please, if Adrian can keep La Vie en Rose hidden throughout its production and post-production for over half a year, can’t he do it again for Walk the Line?

“Keep it up, folks, work hard to make the film even more perfect.” Adrian encouraged everyone with these words, then handed all affairs over to the assistant director and boarded his private plane.

After returning from Nashville, while Joaquin and Natalie were sowhat revitalized, he took advantage of the ti and spent a workweek completing parts of the crucial singing scenes. And for so reasons, Adrian adjusted his schedule and was next going to leave the United States for a period—yes, it’s the trip to East Asia. According to ssages from the mainland, he must go in person to check things out, as among the top leaders, no one understands the place better than he does.

As for Walk the Line, don’t worry too much; the difficult scenes are mostly completed. Although there remain a few places where the actors have to sing themselves, as long as Joaquin and Natalie don’t have issues, the assistant director can handle it without problems. Anyway, once he returns, if he’s dissatisfied with so sections, he can always call for reshoots. After all, the film doesn’t need to hurry to release this year, and the other film won’t start shooting until around March next year, plenty of ti.

He arrived in the capital of mainland in the afternoon, and because winter had already set in, the sky appeared overcast. Adrian’s accommodation was still the China Hotel. He first took a nap to adjust to the ti difference, then instructed Ivanka to bring over related docunts to review by nightfall, and only after deep into the night did he sleep again. The next day, he woke up vibrant, not at all like soone troubled by jet lag.

“Mr. Cowell is truly in good health. Soone my age would need two days to adapt after a trip to Europe,” Wang Zhongjun greeted him with flattery.

“You flatter , Mr. Wang. Actually, with proper adjustnt, after a few ti zone changes, adaption cos quickly. Traditional dicine is quite adept at adjustnt, isn’t it?” Adrian replied with a smile.

This ti in the mainland, he was there to first observe RENN’s situation. Due to the previous pandemic, people were confined at ho, making the internet one of the primary channels for accessing outside information. With guidance from the United States, RENN developed quickly. Huayi noticed this, and thus ford certain intentions, but Adrian disagreed with their approach.

The second matter was the licensing to Mango TV, which involved sending soone to oversee the process of Chinese Idol. The program was initially planned to hold its first edition early this year, but, due to well-known reasons, it was scrapped just as preparations began. Although there were losses, the issues identified could make the event held early next year more professional, and there’s no need to worry about this.

The third matter was naturally preparing for the broadcast of the Chinese version of Battlestar Galactica. It was referred to as the Chinese version because after being brought to China, it underwent re-editing. Supervised by certain authorities, scenes deed too suggestive or potentially hinting at sothing were all to be cut. Several editors dispatched for this purpose frequently complained and lanted, believing this was akin to editing an entirely new TV show—which, of course, Adrian required the editing to extend, such as into 30 episodes, was also a cause for complaint.

Adrian arranged for the editors to be consoled, as all these efforts were worth it. As long as it could open the mainland TV market, even if not by much, just establishing a foothold would suffice. Ti waits for no one, and if left to the internet and piracy, control would not be in their hands.

If it were directly introduced like Everybody Loves Raymond, even if Battlestar Galactica stirred waves, it wouldn’t last long. Prison Break had many factors contributing to its success, so after Huayi’s favor, he decided to have Gao Yuanyuan join.

The result was very effective, exceptionally so. Based on market feedback, when the advertisent aired showing the first collaboration of a dostic actress with Hollywood in a US TV series, the show beca greatly anticipated by many.

Due to Adrian’s investnt in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, with Jen Yu portrayed by Lin Chi-Ling, Chinese people are now even more eager for Hollywood recognition. It’s imaginable how they’d react hearing this news—even if it’s only a TV series—they’d be ecstatic. At this point, as long as the trailer is sowhat exciting and features Gao Yuanyuan’s shots more often, the Chinese, not yet weary of various ad bombardnts, would surely show imnse enthusiasm.

“I believe in a few days, when this series premieres, it’s likely to set a viewership record,” Wang Zhongjun exclaid proudly.

“In that case, won’t the central station make things difficult for them?” Adrian, observing, casually quipped.

This question caused a mont of surprise on Wang Zhongjun’s face, but he soon laughed: “Probably not.”

The channel still airing “Battlestar Galactica” is Mango TV. There aren’t many TV stations in the country at this stage that have the courage, and even fewer have a good relationship with Huayi. Although the station’s ability is not highly regarded, considering that Mango TV’s “past” style hasn’t fully ford, Adrian chose to tacitly agree.

As for that line just now, knowing the conflict between the central channel and local channels, and using such a colloquial phrase as ‘wearing small shoes’, was enough for Wang Zhongjun to submit.

However, he didn’t seem intent on ending it there. After a chuckle, he added, “By the way, just a few days ago, Miss Gao was here promoting ‘Heavenly Sword Dragon Slaying Saber’, and then she went all the way south. She’s probably in Yangcheng now, and reportedly planning to go to Taiwan. Such a sha.”

With a probing expression, he continued, “How about making a call to have Miss Gao co back? The crew should be willing to let her go, especially since ‘Battlestar Galactica’ is about to start its promotions too.”

Seeing Wang Zhongjun’s expression, Adrian couldn’t help but find it amusing. To have a chairman of a dia company suggest such an idea, one wonders how their brains are wired. Of course, Adrian also had the qualification to instruct him or those behind him to do such things.

“No need, anyway, I’ll be going to Hong Kong and Taiwan afterward. It would be nice to et there,” Adrian smiled slightly, “Yuanyuan is a nice girl, I really like her, I think she’ll do very well in Hollywood.”

Still the sa, just to thoroughly express his stance, so no one overthinks.

“Alright,” Wang Zhongjun nodded, “By the way, we happen to have a charity gala today, are you interested in attending?”

Adrian raised an eyebrow, “Better not. Having a representative is enough. You know, not many people know I’m on the mainland, and I don’t want more people to know for now. It’s not ti to be high-profile yet.”

Wang Zhongjun seed slightly startled, but Adrian’s next words brought a hint of understanding to his expression.

“How about visiting Huayi’s headquarters and then going around to the different sets? Speaking of which, I haven’t been to your headquarters yet,” Adrian said with a smile.

Faced with the fleeting pride in Big Binlin’s eyes, Small Binlin secretly gritted her teeth, then took Adrian’s other arm, and the three of them entered the bathroom together: one man, two won.

Although her reaction seed a bit exaggerated, the disbelief in her tone was genuine, so it didn’t co off as pretentious.

“Since I can speak Chinese so well and am interested in Chinese culture, enjoying a few TV series is normal, isn’t it?” Adrian laughed heartily.

“So… Ed, which ones have you watched?” Small Binlin asked expectantly.

“Many, like ‘My Fair Princess’ which was very popular a few years ago, or ‘Palace of Desire’. Most of them I watched superficially, but I saw quite a few episodes of ‘The Legend of Young Justice Bao’,” Adrian said seemingly casually.

Hearing the na of this series, both Big and Small Binlin’s expressions subtly changed, and they exchanged a complicated look. The first season of ‘The Legend of Young Justice Bao’ starred Big Binlin as the female lead, and the second season featured Small Binlin. While this wasn’t the reason they didn’t get along, it did add so fuel to the fire.

“You also watched ‘My Fair Princess’?” Big Binlin coughed lightly and asked, feigning curiosity, making Small Binlin’s face even more displeased.

“Yes, to understand the Chinese market, you naturally need to see what’s popular. ‘My Fair Princess’ was so big back then; you had to take a look at it,” Adrian said discreetly with a smile, “But the plot really isn’t up to scratch, and the characters are too dimwitted. While ‘The Legend of Young Justice Bao’ borrowed a lot from Japanese manga, it did very well in this regard and has a distinctly Chinese characteristic.”

Listening to these words, Big and Small Binlin were montarily stunned. Even though they had discussed it with him before and knew his understanding of China was top-notch, hearing this still gave a sense of dissonance. Besides his appearance, how is this man different from a typical Chinese person?

Adrian chuckled softly to himself. This was exactly the effect he wanted. Without giving them this impression, how could he play them in the palm of his hand?

Although both Binlins were seasoned won, hearing these words still made their chests involuntarily heave a few tis. After all, neither of them was the main character in ‘My Fair Princess’ or ‘Palace of Desire’. Yet, Adrian, a big shot in Arican dia and Hollywood, paid attention to them. This vanity is truly indescribable.
