Although the MTV Awards are younger than the Grammys and perhaps not as revered in terms of reputation and the weight of the awards, they don’t lose out to their counterparts in popularity. As the first television network to venture into MTV’s production and broadcasting, they were fortunate to have taken the right direction. Songs paired with MTV beca more popular, and because of this, they achieved considerable success. Many singers who rose to fa in the 80s—including the likes of Michael Jackson and Madonna—owe a part of their success to MTV’s heavy promotion.

Hence, even to this day, MTV is still very much in its heyday, having launched corresponding channels in various regions around the world and hosting related awards. Can’t compete with the Grammys in terms of tenure? Then compete in popularity. Branded with youth, fashion, and freedom, MTV is incredibly popular among young people. For instance, their film awards were only added last year, but the broadcast was similarly very popular.

In short, they rank among the top dia outlets in the industry, which is why many celebrities attend the MTV Awards held from late August to early September every year. Because of Viacom, although Adrian doesn’t attend every year, he has co to New York for the past three or four years. It has to be said, Redstone has played a smart move, but Adrian isn’t too envious. The winter of the record industry is coming, and if MTV doesn’t make changes, decline is only a matter of ti.

However, since one must walk the red carpet, inevitably one gets entangled with a bunch of reporters. Although they all knew his identity, probing questions were unavoidable. After all, Adrian also had the status of a famous director, and when he appeared in the public eye under this moniker, he was quite willing to cooperate with the reporters and chat for a bit. However, no matter where he was, he couldn’t avoid encountering so clueless fools.

"Mr. Cowell, what do you think about Miss Kate Beckinsale having a five-year-old daughter?" One guy suddenly blurted out this question, his eyes gleaming as if proud of scooping this topic.

He didn’t realize that as soon as he asked the question, his fellow journalists all involuntarily turned to look at him, while a few people on either side even slightly turned their bodies to show they had nothing to do with him.

"Oh?" Adrian said, raising an eyebrow with interest as he glanced at the man’s badge hanging from his neck, "So, Mr. Goodwin, what opinion do you think I should have?"

"Um... that would be your opinion, Mr. Cowell," the other hesitated before saying.

"No, no, no, Mr. Goodwin, my opinion is not important at all," Adrian shook his head emphatically, "let’s hear about your opinion instead. That way I’ll know how to describe it in the report tomorrow when you use ’Faced with Questioning, Miracle Director at a Loss for Words’ as your headline."

Even with the thick skin of an entertainnt reporter, surrounded by snickers of ridicule from the others, he still blushed and was at a loss for words for a good while.

Adrian could only shrug in disappointnt: "It seems you’re not going to answer, so let’s leave it at that, ladies and gentlen. I’m going inside."

After speaking, he walked away, ignoring the reporters’ pleas, and as a result, looks of disappointnt quickly appeared on their faces. They then turned displeased glances toward that untily fool, especially a few who had already figured out strategies to dig sothing out from the Miracle Director, were very angry. It looked like they wanted to devour him alive, leaving the poor reporter standing dumbfounded, not knowing what to do.

Adrian was unaware of all this and even if he knew, he wouldn’t have cared. He had seen so many reporters like this before, there was no need to make a fuss. Even if the reporter wrote sothing, the chief editor might not even allow it to be published, so his attention was on greeting and exchanging pleasantries with both familiar and unfamiliar faces.

Among these people, there were especially many won. Today, as usual, he attended the MTV Awards ceremony without a female companion, which was inevitable. After entering the lobby of the tropolitan Opera House, he had already exchanged greetings with two Jessicas within five minutes. As another popular singer, Jessica Simpson was definitely going to attend the MTV Awards ceremony; although they only chatted briefly, she still gave him clear and bold hints.

Seeing how Britney and Christina were becoming ever more popular, and how Universal Records’ recently promoted Avril was also gaining popularity, potentially becoming the third most popular female singer. Although Simpson was still doing alright, with several albums averaging sales of eight or nine million, which classed her as a top-tier singer, who wouldn’t want to be as famous as Britney and Christina? Conveniently, Britney had just announced she was going to college for further studies, and everyone in the company knew it was Adrian’s suggestion. Simpson saw this as her chance; after all, she had been in bed with Adrian several tis, and he really was a fantastic man.

Unfortunately, Jessica Simpson did not understand what it took to reach the level of fa that Britney and her peers had achieved, and besides, her opportunity had passed.

Another Jessica was naturally Little Mary’s mother. Having had a child early, Jessica remained lively and, under Adrian’s guidance, knew how to showcase her sexiness. Due to Little Mary, her sexiness was tinged with maternal warmth. Paired with her healthy complexion, it made many n want to hit on her. If Adrian hadn’t co over to greet her, who knows how long she would have been entangled.

"Good thing you ca," Jessica said with a playful stick out of her tongue. Now that she had given birth and Adrian treated her well, combined with a series of hints, she liked to have fun but was still very obedient in front of him.

This ti Jessica attended the MTV awards ceremony as a TV actress. Although she starred in "Save the Last Dance" and achieved decent results, her most famous work was still "Dark Angel." "The Bourne Identity" wasn’t starting filming for a while, and she only had a minor role. Jessica pouted about this, hoping to switch roles, but Adrian didn’t agree and instead conned her into giving up a kiss.

Sarah, attending the ceremony as a television actress as well, differed from Jessica. Reliant on Adrian arranging movies like "Legally Blonde" for her, Sarah had successfully established a sweetheart image in film, contrasting with Dennis’s wife. Despite the moderate viewership of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," it enjoyed unparalleled popularity among teenagers, and the rchandise sold extrely well. Sarah, or rather Buffy, was repeatedly nad the most dateable figure online. Aricans always had a unique affection for vampire thes.

Therefore, her attendance as a TV actress wasn’t an issue, and she even fild a funny short piece for the organizers, mocking famous movies.

However, Adrian just waved at her from a distance to acknowledge her, as too many people were chatting with him and trying to network. Avril, having released two singles and several hit songs of high quality that sold a million copies in the first week alone, achieved an impressive feat for a female singer.

With her vibrant and distinctive performances and explosive singing style, Avril had won over many fans, and Adrian’s initial prediction ca true—she signed autographs until her hand was sore.

As an MTV-affiliated television network that got its start on music, MTV had a keen sense for it. Faced with such a rising star, how could they not invite her to attend? It didn’t matter if there was no nomination.

It was just as well, after the incident that day, Avril always smiled stiffly when she saw him. Adrian thought it best not to provoke her for the ti being. With this in mind, he greeted several familiar faces from afar and then entered the hall with so well-known figures from the fashion industry. MTV was aware that focusing only on music wouldn’t last long. With the rise of cable networks, they had started creating various programs. Although they hadn’t been around long, their ratings were sowhat lackluster. However, due to the music channel’s characteristics, they had further deepened their relationship with the fashion industry.

And AC dia’s cable channels had two reality shows with good ratings, "ANTM" and "Project Runway," which also had nurous connections to the fashion world. Adrian knew the designers and magazine editors who often attended the MTV awards ceremony. Entering with them was a perfect way to avoid being pestered.

Of course, now that he was in New York, how could he be missing a certain woman by his side?

"Hi, Natalie, long ti no see." After taking his seat, Adrian imdiately greeted the intellectual woman sitting in front of him.

"Hi, Adrian, indeed it has been a while. I heard you are working on a new movie," said the youngest Oscar nominee for Best Actress, turning her head with a mild smile and greeting him with poise.

"Yes, the next two parts of ’The Matrix’. If we delay any more, who knows if the fans might riot," Adrian joked. "Are you currently filming the second part of the Star Wars Prequel? I heard George took quite so ti choosing from over a thousand applicants before finally picking the young Anakin Skywalker. That couldn’t have been easy."

"That’s right, a young man nad Vic Brooking, quite handso. But he had no acting experience before this, and acting alongside him is indeed painful," Natalie sighed.

The two chatted casually until the host took the stage and announced the start of the award ceremony, concluding their conversation. To onlookers, they seed to be just catching up as old friends.

It seed to have gone well. After withdrawing his gaze from around the room and catching a glimpse of Natalie’s fair nape, Adrian thought so in his mind. Although it was sowhat conspicuous, he was willing to do this for Natalie, especially when the reward was her lodious moans of fear under him last night.

Despite thinking about how he would continue to toy with the girl sitting in front of him tonight, once the award ceremony officially started, he shifted his attention to the stage. Compared to ceremonies such as the Oscars, the MTV Awards tended to be more party-like, with endless jokes from the hosts and a more lively atmosphere. It had been said before that MTV was significantly more youthful.

Although the awards didn’t carry much weight, the recipients still gave serious acceptance speeches when they took the stage. Of course, the subsequent over-the-top antics were sothing you wouldn’t see at other award ceremonies.

In addition to the awards, guest performances of songs and dances were also a highlight of the MTV Awards. Even though the Grammys also arranged performances during their ceremony, MTV’s level of energy far exceeded theirs. The perforrs at the MTV Awards were always extrely popular singers, such as Christina or Jennifer Lopez, and in this respect, MTV had a substantial edge.

Adrian remained seated in his place. He had planned to see if he should try so bathroom passion like at the Oscars, a feat he had apparently not yet accomplished with Sarah. But upon reflection, he decided against it.

Soon, the award ceremony reached its finale, and the performing guest artist was naturally very eye-catching—none other than Little Sweet, Britney. As the world’s number one record-selling artist, boasting super high popularity, she truly deserved this weighty position; no other singer had created as many miracles as she had.

So, when Britney appeared on stage in the center, wearing a top hat, a white suit with a miniskirt, and holding a short stick, starting to dance with the backup dancers to the music, the applause and whistling from the audience were incessant. What Britney perford was the theatrical jazz dance showcased in "stop! stop! stop!", which was the sexiest performance in her entire album.

Especially when her legs beneath the short skirt moved rhythmically back and forth, coupled with her figure accentuated by her clothing, it was quite seductive. So much so that when the music video for this song was released, there were a few parents who raised protests.

Adrian sighed slightly as he watched Britney shining on stage; he suddenly regretted putting so many good songs on one album. Knowing that it was an achievent for half of the songs on a popular singer’s best-selling album to hit the charts—not necessarily the top—was already excellent, but for all the songs on her album to have topped the Billboard charts was a unique honor.

If he had split them into three separate albums, with good managent, each might have sold over 20 million copies instead of just over 40 million, like now.

However, this thought flickered through his mind and then disappeared. Splitting the album might have brought in more profit through record sales, but as a reward for his little pet, it wouldn’t compare to the honor of having the world’s number one record sales. Besides, it had only been released for a little over a year, and sales would slowly continue to rise. Michael Jackson’s world record sales had also accumulated over more than a decade.

At that mont, Adrian’s brows furrowed slightly. There was a mont of hesitation in Britney’s performance on stage, and she seed sowhat offbeat, particularly her steps, often missing a half beat when moving. After the initial surprise, snickers tinged with mockery began to erge from the audience, but Britney continued dancing hard until the song ended.

Adrian’s frown deepened. He closed his eyes and thought carefully, then spoke a few words to soone from the record company next to him, and under the gaze of so, he stood up and left.

He quickly made his way down the aisle to the backstage area. A staff mber intended to stop him, but was soon blocked by people from Universal Records. He bypassed the crowd and entered Britney’s private dressing room without knocking, startling everyone inside.

"Who here is with MTV?" Adrian scanned the room, filled with makeup artists, costu designers, and the like, as he asked in an icy tone.

"I am. May I know..." A bearded man in his thirties raised his hand.

"I’m Adrian Cowell. Get your supervisor here imdiately. I’ll wait for just ten minutes," Adrian said bluntly. "Everyone else, except for Britney, leave the room!"

No one was unaware of who Adrian Cowell was, and at his command, they all imdiately filed out. The bearded man gulped as if wanting to say sothing but ultimately followed the others out.

After the room cleared out, Adrian slowly approached Britney. The dejected young girl who had sat in front of the mirror when he entered was now shrinking her neck and timidly watching him, unsure of what to do. Adrian didn’t speak. Instead, he squatted in front of her, grabbed her right foot, and after taking off her shoe, he massaged it gently.

"Not injured?" he asked in a flat tone after checking her foot.

Britney obediently shook her head.

"Was it these shoes?" He looked at the high heels placed on another table.

Britney again nodded obediently.

Adrian walked over, picked up the shoes, and examined them closely before letting out a snort and returning to her side, "When people co later, don’t say anything."

Britney nodded obediently once more.

Soon enough, there was a knock on the door, and a shrewd-looking man in his mid-forties walked in. Seeing Adrian standing by the seated Britney, he hesitated for a mont but then conjured up a smile, "Hello, Mr. Cowell. I’m Patrick Canney, in charge of today’s awards ceremony. How may I assist you?"

"Hello, Mr. Canney," Adrian said emotionlessly as he nodded and picked up the high heel with the broken strap, "Regarding this, I want a satisfactory explanation."

Canney was taken aback and quickly plastered on an even wider smile, "May I take a look, please?"

After inspecting the shoe thoroughly, he said, "I am certain these are shoes we provided. I regret the quality issue that has arisen, as well as the inconvenience caused to Miss Spears. I will find the person responsible for the wardrobe imdiately and deal with this oversight strictly..."

"Do I need to repeat myself?" Adrian suddenly raised his voice, interrupting him, "I want an explanation that ets my satisfaction!"

"I’m a man who follows the rules, Mr. Canney," Adrian said coldly, not waiting for the other to speak, "I too am willing to abide by them, provided— the other party also plays by the rules!"

"We play by the rules, sir," Canney said, managing a strained smile.

"I know MTV has made many singers famous, and I know MTV always likes to use little tricks to assert their presence, to grab the audience’s attention, to declare that they’re the ones in charge. MJ, Madonna, they’ve all had a taste of this ga, so of course, Britney should be no exception," Adrian narrowed his eyes as he looked at Canney, "That’s fine, it’s understandable—but there are things that can happen once or twice, not three or four tis. In ’99 her strap broke, in ’00 her microphone suddenly went silent for ten or more seconds, and now, her shoe strap breaks."

Canney’s face turned sowhat pale.

"Give a satisfactory explanation," Adrian said quietly after a mont, "by 9 o’clock tomorrow morning. If it’s not on ti, I’ll personally call Mr. Freston or Mr. Redstone to inquire about the progress."
