"There’s no doubt that Samsung is very strong, and in the sa industry, only a handful are better. But in my view, it’s not specialized enough, and right now, Samsung’s most prominent area is the electronics industry. However, it’s gotten involved in too many other areas, such as construction, real estate, finance, etc., which are too scattered and all of these could affect Samsung’s developnt,"
"Kim Dae-Jung will step down next year, no doubt, but so what? Purging those who leaned toward him won’t change anything; once Kim steps down, the next person would be the president, and no matter who gets into the Blue House, they won’t allow dostic companies to beco overly swollen and gigantic. Rather than trying to fight it, it’d be better to take this opportunity to adjust and streamline, making ourselves more resilient to risks."
"Sony and Toshiba are too old, seemingly glorious, but slow to react. In a future where the pace is accelerating, if they can’t respond promptly, they will eventually be eliminated. Texas Instrunts and Philips have long since been divided up by other manufacturers, so the rising star Samsung has beco the best choice."
"I have this inexplicable, indescribable intuition about the future, and it has helped a lot. It allows to collect intelligence more purposefully and specifically. But unless there is a sufficient amount of detailed intelligence, it’s very difficult for to give a concrete answer. That’s why I say I don’t know."
In summary, what Adrian is saying is that he is optimistic about Samsung, but Samsung is not good enough yet, too bloated, involved in low-level sectors, and inevitably, the South Korean governnt will restrain them in the future—Kim Dae-Jung has already targeted them, so it might be wise to seize this opportunity to contract and integrate industries to make themselves more resilient. And for him, he naturally has an intuition that makes him believe Samsung has great potential, so he wants to deepen cooperation with them, but due to insufficient intelligence, he can’t fully determine the specific direction for the future, so for now he can’t explain it clearly.
Although his speech seed sowhat inconsistent, and even a bit mystical, Lee Kun-hee still felt a bit dizzy listening to it. That’s normal—if a beggar was to talk to you about computer operating systems, no matter how eloquent he is, you would treat it like a circus show, forgotten as soon as it’s over. But if it were Bill Gates, you would listen respectfully, treating his every word as the truth, even if he didn’t have much of substance to say, and even if it were proven that he’s fond of won.
So even for an experienced old-tir like Lee Kun-hee, he was sowhat bewildered by the talk. After all, Samsung’s current goal was only to catch up with Sony and Toshiba. However, listening to Adrian, why does it sound like Samsung had beco one of the world’s top conglorates? And this viewpoint seed to be affird by the United States side, as another giant from AC dia, CEO Claude Ronris, also made an enthusiastic transoceanic call with Lee, confirming the cooperation and stating that they would negotiate in detail with South Korean companies as soon as possible. But Lee Kun-hee could hear another layer in his words—he supported Adrian.
That being so, there was nothing more to be said, as it would not be harmful to Samsung anyway. AC dia and Samsung had almost no business conflicts before, so there was no need to worry about them scheming against him. Besides, Adrian did not give a clear target, aning they only needed to prepare and observe, so it might as well be worth trying for a step just to see.
This gave Adrian so relief, and with Claude finally agreeing to his plan, as the resources to be spent were not much, and moreover, the key was still with Apple. No one could deny, though Blackberry had started the era of smartphones, it was Apple that truly brought them to prominence, from this perspective, whether one likes Apple or not, they can’t deny that Jobs was a genius.
Thus, whether it’s establishing standards with open source—Android being another great example of free defeating fee—or restraining Samsung from getting too big, balancing interests in various aspects, the key still lies with Apple under Jobs, so Adrian had a heavy responsibility. Fortunately, that was his only major task, leaving the rest to professionals like Claude. That was another reason for his involvent with the smartphone standards; it wouldn’t take up too much of his ti and energy. With rely a few words and setting the general direction, others would be responsible for the rest, requiring his personal involvent only in a small part.
Regardless, his main target was still Hollywood.
With the matter in South Korea concluded, it was ti to return to Los Angeles. As for Song Hye-kyo, Jun Ji-hyun, and Lee Hyo-ri, naturally, they were three checks, just with slightly larger sums, nothing more—Adrian had a great ti. Although he had to put so effort into charming them initially, that was for the atmosphere, to make the experience more enjoyable for himself, and it didn’t change their nature... as playthings.
Playthings—perhaps the term sounds harsh, but according to the intelligence collected about the South Korean entertainnt circle in the past few days, this term for the female artists was not too far off the mark. Otherwise, how could people like Lee Kun-hee present three at once?
Since they were playthings, of course, one should fully enjoy it. His display of gentlemanly deanor, coupled with Korean won’s obedience or perhaps fear not losing to Japanese won, and with Jun Ji-hyun siding with Adrian, all three won eventually let loose and let him play as he wished. Threesos had beco the norm, and role-playing, uniform seduction was all part of it. Song Hye-kyo’s stewardess and nurse, Jun Ji-hyun’s policewoman and student, and Lee Hyo-ri’s car model were all quite seductive.
Various styles and positions were ever-erging, such as triple nipple-to-banana contests, or forming long lines for doggy style, etc. Especially the latter, quite interesting. The first ti, Song Hye-kyo was at the front and nearly passed out after finishing, so she took her revenge on the other two won afterwards. However, neither Jun Ji-hyun nor Lee Hyo-ri could hold out, leaving only Adrian satisfied from beginning to end.
Besides, ssing around in a caravan parked along the road was no big deal anymore, the most thrilling mont happened in the VIP room of a dance hall, where they were pressed against the one-way glass, looking out at the dancing crowd... In short, over a few days, the three won, though not wrecked to the sa degree as Matsushima Nanako, were pretty close, and everything was duly captured by photo and video for posterity.
Adrian had no intention of keeping anyone from the start, even though Song Hye-kyo, Jun Ji-hyun, and Lee Hyo-ri were all fresh-faced, but kimchi is sothing that, although nice to try occasionally and could even whet one’s appetite, becos too much if it’s the main dish every day. Besides, acquiring Yukie was a fluke, and Sony hadn’t anticipated his rapid rise to success. Adrian was very thorough with covering his tracks; otherwise... Even if Samsung and AC dia had no conflicting interests, who could guarantee they hadn’t safeguarded themselves against future issues? Not to ntion Adrian had clearly shown interest in ddling with the electronics industry.
After spending a week in South Korea, Adrian returned to Los Angeles and dove into his film career. anwhile, he had to find a way to tease Ivanka a bit, as she had been cold-faced all week; she knew all about his debauchery. However, it was worth considering just why she took such an attitude.
The basic editing of Moulin Rouge was nearing its end, and the editor was an old collaborator familiar with Adrian’s unpredictable style. As long as there was in-depth communication, he could understand Adrian’s ideas, although certain special scenes still required his personal touch. Additionally, the shooting of The Matrix had officially been scheduled, with Reeves, Lawrence, Monica, along with Weaving, all having undergone full training and ready to start filming at any ti. The news excited fans of The Matrix, and many left ssages online: "The wait is finally over."
Since its premiere in 1998, the movie garnered attention quickly, just like in the past life, and led to a trend that created a large fan base that enjoyed a mix of action and philosophy. The only difference was that the novel ca out first, and although it was second-rate, it still had so fans, and there were so discrepancies between the movie and the book – the novel ended darker. Moreover, Adrian had hinted that the movie and the novel would differ, which often led to argunts between book fans and movie fans.
But whether they were book fans or movie fans, they all eagerly anticipated the Miracle Director starting on the sequels, yet Adrian kept disappointing them, first leaving to shoot The Lord of the Rings, planning to adapt all three books at once. It was maddening; The Matrix was based on three books too, so why not shoot all of them at once?
Finally, after the Miracle Director finished The Lord of the Rings, he went on to dabble in independent films, producing two at a ti. What was he really up to? Did he not plan to complete the remaining two? Fortunately, a few related animations were released last year. Although unrelated to the main storyline, the beautifully made and diverse shorts were satisfying for fans, who then beca even more eager for the next two films to co out quickly.
So, when the news about the potential start of shooting for two films ca out, and that a highway was being built for this purpose, it was no wonder The Matrix fans were so excited. However, while they were excited, Adrian faced a dilemma.
"I’m going to do it?" Adrian looked at Sophie and Monica in surprise from the right-hand head of the conference table.
"Of course," Sophie nodded earnestly, "you sotis make caos in your own movies, don’t you? Like the man listening to Forrest Gump in Forrest Gump, or one of the ignited n in Malena, or even the lawyer’s assistant you played in Erin Brockovich last year, at the end. So why can’t you take on this role?"
"But..." Adrian wanted to argue.
"The part is just a little bit larger, there’s no fighting required, and you won’t need the training we have, it’s very simple, it should be no problem for you," Monica chid in imdiately.
Looking at Monica, then at Sophie, they both held their cheeks with their hands, with a half-smiling expression, clearly having ford an alliance to make him play this role. Looking at the others, Reeves sat not far away, engrossed in his handheld ga, while Weaving and Lawrence chatted, Jet Li was asking the producer and assistant director sothing, as if they hadn’t noticed the situation here.
"I don’t look anything like a Frenchman," Adrian said at last.
"No matter, your French is excellent, just need a slight accent, and if that doesn’t work, we can rewrite the script to make him Arican. After all, there are plenty of lecherous, self-righteous n in Arica too," Sophie said with a raised eyebrow, her eyes a teasing glint.
"But the novel is about a Frenchman," Adrian was still putting up a last-ditch struggle.
"The novel and the film are different. Although the film is adapted from the novel, it doesn’t have to be exactly the sa. That’s what you said," Monica retorted imdiately.
After glaring at them for a long ti, under the relentless pressure of the two won, Adrian finally conceded, "Fine, fine, I’ll take the role."
The whole matter was quite simple. The following two installnts of "The Matrix" were scheduled to start shooting at the end of August, and most of the main cast were in place. Sophie’s role as Persephone was specially picked by Adrian. There were only a few small roles left, such as the Twin virus and the Keymaker, or that Frenchman who shelters deleted programs.
These were all fairly straightforward. The Twin virus looked cool but only appeared briefly in the second part without much fighting. The Keymaker and the Frenchman were even easier; throughout they only appear in dialogue scenes. Today, Adrian had gathered key mbers of the crew to make this decision, but when it was raised, Sophie unexpectedly voiced her support for Adrian to take the role himself. Monica imdiately stated her backing, and the rest instinctively moved to the side, starkly separating themselves from them. Basically, even without knowing the exact nature of his relationship with them, it was clear there was so trickery involved, so no one wanted to get involved.
Consequently, Adrian found himself without support. Though he could veto the suggestion as the producer, but if he did that...
"What else is there for today?" Adrian sighed after he returned to his office at headquarters from the film company.
"Just one thing, be ho in ti to have dinner with Lily. I’m sure you won’t forget the rest," Ivanka replied with a stern face, still sporting the sa expression several days after returning to Los Angeles.
"Alright, alright. Oh, and rember to make a note in the schedule that after ’The Matrix’ starts filming at the end of the month, I’ll be playing one of the roles, that Frenchman," Adrian added.
"That sounds great, but why not just take on the lead role? With your ability to spin stories, changing the protagonist to soone else shouldn’t be hard, right?" Ivanka said sarcastically, aware of Monica and Sophie’s presence in the crew.
"Oh?" Adrian stretched out the sound ambiguously, giving her a look that was both smirking and non-committal, and did not respond further. Originally, Sophie and Monica had tead up against him, and he should have retaliated, but now there was soone more important to deal with.
Ivanka huffed, turned to leave, but Adrian quickly reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her forcefully into his embrace.
"What are you doing!" Ivanka shouted angrily, struggling.
Without answering, Adrian buried his face in the nape of her neck and took a deep breath, "Arden’s Provocative? That’s rare. Don’t you usually favor Dior and Fendi? Occasionally Givenchy, but now you’re using Arden?"
"What perfu I use is my business," Ivanka replied, but her cheeks involuntarily blushed.
"Yeah, it is, it is your business," Adrian laughed, his hand wandering over her body. "The neckline’s a bit low, I can see right into it. Your skirt’s so short it’s nearly reaching the top of your thighs. Black lace stockings, and even garters; pointed high heels with a strap around the ankle—such a provocative look. Are you trying to tease , Innie?"
Ivanka, who was squirming, suddenly froze, then after a mont stuttered, "I... I... I certainly haven’t..."
She buried her head and refused to look up; nevertheless, Adrian could still see her ears turning red.
"Do you feel..." he whispered into her ear teasingly, "that I’ve been neglecting you?"
"Let go, I have to work!" Ivanka suddenly struggled harder, "If you want to be productive today, then let go imdiately. Besides, I have my studies; don’t make unable to graduate next year!"
"What’s the hurry?!" Adrian nibbled on her earlobe, his hands grasping her bust.
"I’m warning you, Ed!" Ivanka suddenly raised her head, her face flushed as she glared fiercely at him, as if she wanted to bite him.
Unfortunately, her angry yet vulnerable look had long been seen through by Adrian, so, holding her, he abruptly stood up and pinned her against the desk.
"Tell the truth, Innie. When I was ssing around with them, did you ever feel like peeping? Like... that night?" He pressed her, forehead to forehead.
Ivanka’s cheeks turned even redder, her expression twisted and angry, yet there was a hint of excitent—of course she knew he was referring to that night.
Pleased with himself looking at the woman beneath him, Adrian rembered the montum in real estate was just beginning to surge. He had invested through Trump, and with the respectable ratings of "The Apprentice," a buoyant Trump had by now completely ignored—or rather, tacitly accepted—his daughter’s job and her relationship with him. As for his current girlfriend, she was wholeheartedly in favor; Ivanka was, after all, not her biological child. And Ivanka herself, undoubtedly aware of these facts, would not be unsettled by his ntion of them now.
Sure enough, she shyly turned her head away, but Adrian was not about to let her off the hook: "Not only do you feel that I’ve been neglecting you, but you also vaguely long to join in, don’t you?"
"Ed, please..." Ivanka had to start pleading in a soft tone.
Seeing the haughty princess lower herself in front of him was truly delightful. With this smug thought in mind, Adrian continued to be active; he wasn’t about to let her off easily with a few words, especially when he saw a good opportunity.
"Ed... hold on... there’s still sothing... that needs to be done..."
"Then let’s try a different approach, if you can before they arrive..." (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welco to vote for recomndation tickets and monthly tickets at qidian. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
