Chapter 168: Chapter 168: Interview

As Sarah was tangled in her own room, Adrian, driving ho, was also pondering how to handle today’s affairs. The plan to package her as a top idol had been set long ago. It was rely moved ahead of schedule, and after all, this trajectory was ant for her rise to fa. Besides, there were several suitable movie options, and even a small accident could be awaited until her awkward age was passed. With no accidents, it should not be a problem for Sarah to beco famous.

So, what troubled Adrian now was Sarah herself. Indeed, her affection for her mother was touching. The fatigue shown after persistence and the hidden, slight embarrassnt were pitiful. However, this did not an that he would change his mind and let Sarah off the hook.

Doing what he wished to do wasn’t that his greatest desire after his rebirth? Initially, Adrian had only the desire to nurture and collect Sarah but, after several encounters, he had grown fond of this stubborn and independent girl, especially her determined, “Walk the Line” attitude in the office today, which was quite thrilling. Besides, she had already given such clear hints, and he had agreed. Could he still want to renege?

However, winning her body would be easy, but winning her heart would be a challenge. Although everyone has weaknesses and everyone in this circle revolves around fa and fortune, Sarah’s actions were more for her mother. Mastering such a girl would require so effort.

There are many ways to please a woman, such as the usual pampering, but pampering is not equivalent to deceiving. If it were just a one-night stand or transient flings, one could spout lies continuously. But if one sought long-lasting affection, using deception was absolutely foolish. So things could be kept as personal secrets but should not be denied.

Because of this, when Kate asked Adrian if he had slept with Drew and Monica, Adrian admitted it without hesitation. In his view, even enticing and oppressing people with power was much better than deceiving.

...

Forget it; he would talk about it later since there was plenty of ti ahead. Adrian thought and temporarily put this matter aside. Then, the brick-like cell phone beside him tily rang.

“Hello, who’s this?” Adrian answered the call and quietly griped about the caller ID.

“Ed, it’s . There’s sothing I’d like to talk to you about,” ca the voice of his agent, Roger.

“Really, what is it?” Adrian asked in a casual tone, being not only Roger’s employer but also his boss. Although the other party addressed him by na while always maintaining a cautious tone, Adrian made sure every conversation—whether over the phone or face-to-face—was in a relaxed manner to put him at ease.

“Laverne just called , and after exchanging so opinions, we both think you should consider appearing on a few talk shows to boost exposure for better public relations,” Roger stated succinctly.

“Okay, but I’m busy these next few days. How about this weekend?” Adrian pondered for a minute before asking.

“No problem, I’ll arrange it,” the other party readily agreed.

“Then… if there’s nothing else, I’ll hang up. I’m driving,” Adrian initially wanted to ask sothing more but decided against it after careful thought.

Isn’t this the utmost use of resources? However, thinking back, he indeed had not done enough in this respect. If it were another director, they likely wouldn’t need a reminder from an agent before beginning to shuttle between various parties and social gatherings. Adrian, while driving, stroked his chin and chuckled, shrugging his shoulders. After all, he wasn’t like other directors. Besides being a director, he was also a producer and a boss—the boss of AC dia. There was much more for him to consider than those directors.

Nonetheless, attending shows wasn’t a big deal. Directors participated in talk shows less frequently than actors, but that wasn’t to say they didn’t appear at all, right? Coppola, Lucas, Spielberg—they all had their turns, and even Adrian had participated last year. It wasn’t sothing to fuss over, especially given his current popularity. He had six direct nominations, all six related to him. This was unprecedented in Oscar history and probably unrepeatable, implying the level of dia frenzy to expect next.

Of course, before that, there was one thing he had to take care of, which was why he postponed arranging the show to the weekend. This matter piqued Adrian’s curiosity so much that he decided to handle it himself: the auditions!

The spacious hall appeared even more expansive due to the lack of furnishings. Behind a long table placed horizontally at the front, three suited gentlen were conversing in low voices, while another neatly dressed man sitting not far away on a chair appeared slightly nervous awaiting their verdict. The bright sunlight from the floor-to-ceiling windows lit up the room exceptionally well.

“Thank you for your interview, Mr. Eckhart. We’ll notify you,” the middle interviewer said after concluding their discussion.

“Thank you, Mr. Rodick, Mr. Kane, and Mr. Cowell,” the man nodded, then stood up and walked outside, appearing slightly disappointed, yet neither showing it nor losing his composure.

“Up to this point, he’s the best, Mr. Adrian,” the middle interviewer addressed Adrian, who sat on his right, after the man had left.

After pondering for a mont, Adrian nodded, but equivocally added, “Let the last one co in now.”

There was no need to specify who the last one was; Adrian glanced at the information in his hands. Although it wasn’t extrely delicate, it matched with his mories and should indeed be her, except one discrepancy: two years ago, after leaving the ballet troupe because of an injury, she did not beco a model but instead went to a professional school to study to be an assistant, excelling in every subject and securing many internship opportunities to the extent of getting her training certificate early.

How intriguing, what made her give up returning to modeling to study to be an assistant? Adrian looked over the docunts, supporting his face with his right hand as he gently tapped on the desk. This butterfly had indeed flapped its wings quite broadly.

Just as this thought crossed his mind, he felt a vague idea surge through his brain, but it passed too quickly for him to catch it. Just when Adrian was about to sift through his mories carefully, the door of the hall was opened again, and he quickly gathered his thoughts and looked up, only to be stunned.

Wavy golden shoulder-length curls, delicate features, a subtle smile adorning her face, a black ladies’ suit fitting impeccably, the shirt collar turned outwards, a skirt just over the knees, flesh-colored stockings enhancing the allure of her legs, a height of 5 feet 8 inches coupled with 5-inch black high heels making her look tall and upright, displaying her exquisite curves with a standard office lady look that was both respectable and uniquely sexy.

She indeed was a beauty. Adrian internally complinted her, glancing at the other two interviewers beside him. Though they were expressionless, he was certain that they must have shared similar admiration.

“Please sit, Miss Charlize Theron,” the first to speak was the middle interviewer, Rodick.

“Thank you.” Charlize replied with a slight smile, crossing her legs as she sat down.

“Please tell , Miss Theron, why do you think you are suitable for this job?” Kane from the other side continued, although surprised by Charlize’s dazzling appearance, his questioning was clear-cut.

“I have excellent grades in school and have had nurous internship opportunities. Among the people who obtained their certificates at the sa ti, I have the most experience,” Charlize replied, smiling confidently and sitting up straight.

Her eyes seed to flicker towards Adrian, causing his eyebrows to raise slightly. Interesting.

“Can you give us a reason to hire a newcor like you?” Rodick then asked.

“I admit, newcors might not be as steady as experienced seniors, but their reactions, adjustnt, and adaptation abilities are far superior. Every experienced senior started as a newcor. I believe a dynamic company thrives on giving opportunities to newcors,” Charlize spoke eloquently.

Kane and Rodick took turns asking sharp and tactically pointed questions, which the 17-year-old girl dissolved one by one, prompting Adrian to nod repeatedly in approval. Charlize was indeed a smart and resilient woman; her flawless and modest response to these questions was no surprise. So, she really might be…

Finally, Rodick and Kane finished their questions, exchanged opinions, and turned to Adrian.

“Quite impressive, no less than the previous one, just a bit young,” Rodick whispered in his ear.

Adrian nodded in acknowledgnt, then, with keen interest, looked at Charlize who sat steadily and asked his first and last question, “Miss Charlize, what would you do if you weren’t selected in this interview?”

Charlize’s eyes briefly sparkled, and her smile suddenly brightened.

“Two years ago, as I sat by the Hudson River estuary, disheartened from a knee injury that left unable to dance ballet and looking at the Statue of Liberty, a person I greatly appreciated encouraged , saying, ‘Don’t feel like a failure—life offers many choices. It’s about daring, not about ability.’ So, my answer is, if I weren’t selected, I would strive even harder to secure an opportunity. If it turns out this field isn’t right for , I will switch directions and continue to work until I succeed—does that satisfy you, Mr. Adrian?”

She sat there quietly, her beautiful eyes steadfastly gazing at him, and after a long while, Adrian finally smiled slightly: “Very satisfied, Miss Charlize.”

It really was her! (To be continued. For the rest of the story, please visit qidian. More chapters are available there to support the author and legitimate reading!)
