Chapter 155: Chapter 155: A New Deal

“Oh, I’m really sorry… Ed.” The girl who bumped into Adrian quickly grabbed his arm to support herself. After getting a clear look, she revealed a seductive smile.

“No worries, I’m happy to help, Drew.” Adrian wrapped his arms around her from behind, his right hand resting on her flat stomach, then gestured to the nearby onlookers that everything was fine.

“I’m so thrilled to see you at ‘The Godfather’ film premiere, Ed.” Drew Barrymore said, turning around to affectionately place her hand on his shoulder, which almost laid her entire body against his.

“I feel the sa, you’re still so beautiful and adorable.” Adrian not only showed no intention of pushing her away but instead pinched her chin. From the feeling during their collision, he knew it was intentional.

“You’re still so good at flattering girls.” Drew giggled. “Oh, I haven’t thanked you yet.”

“Thanked ?” Adrian asked knowingly.

...

“Yes, if it wasn’t for you, how could I have gotten the nomination for Best Supporting Actress at the Golden Globe Awards?” Drew blinked her eyes, her youthful baby-face appearing especially charming with that action.

‘Guncrazy,’ as an independent film, was only shown in a few theaters and for a short ti, but Drew’s performance received universal acclaim from critics, calling it one of her best roles in recent years. After scoring a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actress with the help of Bossworth Film Company, the praise only grew louder. Many believed she had shaken off the shadow of her past tumultuous years and co back strong, making her current behavior not so surprising.

“That was your hard work, wasn’t it?” Adrian said sincerely, his face void of any other implications, then he changed the topic: “In fact, I think you’re fully deserving of a Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.”

Drew’s eyes imdiately lit up, knowing full well what this could an with her more than a decade of acting experience. Although the Golden Globe Awards aren’t as prestigious as the Oscars, a Golden Globe trophy could bring unexpected benefits given her current situation.

“Do you really think so, Ed?” Drew brushed the hair away from her face, making her smile more enticing and provocative.

“Of course, I never thought of you as just a pretty vase,” Adrian said playfully. “Rember what I told you before? You could totally start your own film production company and venture into romantic codies.”

“Why does it have to be romantic codies?” Drew looked curious.

“Because people love them…” Adrian suddenly paused, giving Drew a peculiar look as she maintained a charming smile, as though her hand hadn’t just unzipped him and reached inside.

“Yes, people love romantic codies, but not every romantic cody is popular.” Drew’s voice softened into an irresistibly tender tone.

Adrian looked around; fortunately, their spot by the column in the corner of the lobby was relatively secluded compared to the center area, and with Drew practically pressing her whole body against him, there was no need to worry about being noticed.

“It all depends on the screenwriter and director’s storytelling skills,” Adrian took a deep breath, “All stories are more or less similar… The key lies in whether the screenwriter is innovative during the writing process… Hiss… and whether the director can tell a good story. If these two elents are well-executed, then a romantic cody is already halfway to success. As a producer, you might not need to know the minutiae, but you must have a firm grasp on the big picture…”

If it started as freestyle swimming, diving in and maintaining smooth progress with movents, what followed was synchronized swimming, rhythmically twisting in various directions with different tricks. Yet, a few minutes later, the synchronized swimming turned into a 100-ter sprint, racing at top speed. With such alternating techniques plus the stimulating surroundings, both Drew and Adrian experienced an incredibly exhilarating sensation.

“So… maybe you have so good scripts… Ed?” Drew’s cheeks slowly flushed a deeper shade, her breath quickening, fine beads of sweat gently quivering on the tip of her nose, her chest pressing against Adrian’s and heaving continuously, her eyes full of excited passion.

“I’ve got a few ideas… but that will take so ti…” Even with Adrian’s self-control, his heart was racing significantly, not to ntion he still had to be mindful of their surroundings.

“I know there’s a small storage room behind the theater, and since there’s still so ti before the premiere, we can go there to talk in detail,” Drew said with squinted eyes and a breathy tone, deliberately pinching her hand. “I have never forgotten our last encounter; it was indeed morable, and perhaps today, I can give you a mory just as cherished.”

After only a few seconds of contemplation, Adrian linked arms with her, “It would be an honor.”

================================

Finally, the ti for the movie premiere arrived. After people entered the screening room and took their seats one by one, the lights inside the hall dimd, and logos of Universal and Bossworth Film Company began to appear on the screen. Soon, the introduction ended, and the film moved on to the main plot. Spielberg’s design was truly unique, and although everyone knew that the movie would revive those ancient behemoths on screen, not a single dinosaur appeared in the first ten minutes.

Yet, through scenes of workers getting injured, archaeologists coming in, and a chubby man smuggling embryos, the plot continually whetted the audience’s appetite, making it irresistible to continue watching. Especially when the helicopter landed on the island, the stirring music composed by John Williams began to play right on cue, involuntarily sending waves of excitent through the crowd.

“Excuse , please let through.” A quiet voice rose among the seats, and after squeezing through, a dark figure finally sat down in the only empty seat.

“Where have you been?” Kate finally relaxed after recognizing the newcor but imdiately a flicker of sothing unnatural crossed her eyes, and her eyebrows furrowed.

“I ran into an old friend, so we talked a bit longer, discussing so movie production matters,” Adrian replied in a casual tone, although the low light in the screening room ant he did not see her unease.

“We specifically found a spot to talk in detail, and I got a bit carried away with the conversation, so I lost track of ti. I’m sorry for being late.” He then took Kate’s hand and patted it, “But it looks like I haven’t missed the best part.”

Kate looked hesitant at Adrian, the other hand finally clenching into a fist, seemingly resolved to ask sothing. But just as she was about to speak, she inhaled sharply, and her brow furrowed again.

“Hey, look, the dinosaur is coming out!” Before she could ponder further, Adrian exclaid softly.

Kate involuntarily turned her head toward the big screen, and once she did, she couldn’t look away. A massive long-necked dinosaur that almost filled half the screen appeared before the audience, accompanied by a series of screeching sounds. The nearly realistic visuals stunned everyone at that mont; many viewers involuntarily gaped as if the dinosaur had actually co back to life after millions of years.

Even those who had experienced “Terminator 2” were completely captivated by these CG-created dinosaurs—well, except for a few like Lucas who were in charge of post-production and had seen it countless tis. Besides them, there was another person indifferent to it, Adrian, who had been bombarded by far more impressive effects before.

Of course, he still marveled at the appearance of the long-necked dinosaur for a mont, but quickly recovered. Seeing everyone around him, including Kate, getting caught up in the awe, he took the opportunity to reminisce briefly about the passionate mont they had earlier.

Honestly, initially, he had not intended to have another round with this woman, nor did he intend to help her win the Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe out of anything but a desire to curry favor. After all, Monica wasn’t suited for it yet, and it was easier to influence the Golden Globe jurors than the Oscar jurors. Even though he only invited the judges to a film party, and perhaps sent them so wine as a parting gift, such gestures were enough to create a slight bias during their deliberations.

Of course, other companies would do their own PR, and the jurors themselves would be very careful with their decisions. It would then depend on the PR tactics and how well they were managed.

As for the production company, that would actually be sothing Drew was supposed to handle. She had already ntioned it during The Shawshank Redemption’s victory party, so now it was just a matter of getting into details. In Hollywood, it’s common for big stars to found production companies which often operate as shells—because their fa itself is a resource. When needed, it’s easy to leverage their celebrity to secure investnt, hire a decent team through connections, produce the movie, and have a larger company distribute it. Everything is quite straightforward.

But he hadn’t expected this woman to co on to him so directly, boldly teasing him. Adrian naturally didn’t hold back—in admitting that Drew’s choice was indeed good, and her way of doing things, which no doubt made her successful in running her production company.

However, for Adrian, it was still just a fling—this was Hollywood, after all, and he didn’t have any long-term interest in her. But considering how hard she tried back in the storage room, he thought it wouldn’t hurt to give her a bit more. As before, it was still just a transaction, and he was confident Drew understood that.

“I can’t believe it; they’ve created such perfect dinosaurs!” Kate’s voice, slightly excited, now rang in his ear as the scene on the screen shifted to the laboratory. Adrian imdiately ca back to reality and patted the hand he was holding, “Of course, they are the best special effects studio.”

Speaking, he glanced around. Where was Monica sitting at this mont? (To be continued, for further details, please visit qidian. More chapters available, support the author, support genuine reading!)
