Not until the Sword of Hades had completely stilled did Ah Dai finally let out a sigh of relief, catching his breath a few tis with his right hand tightly pressed against his chest. It was too terrifying, it really was too terrifying. That cold Ultimate Evil Power, even without being drawn, was still so horrifying; no wonder Uncle Owen had beco the number one assassin on the continent by relying on it.
After a while, Ah Dai’s emotions finally cald down, but to his astonishnt, he discovered that half of the True Qi within his body had been depleted. It must have been lost while suppressing the Evil Aura just now.
Dawn was gradually breaking, and Ah Dai had no more ti to train and recover. He could only pack up his belongings and wait for Xuan Yue to wake up. His first attempt at learning the Nine Nether Decrees had exhausted all his spiritual power and half his True Qi, leaving Ah Dai with lingering fear, no longer daring to chant that incantation casually. He tentatively imitated the gestures of Nether Flash a couple of tis, but it didn’t produce the desired effect, feeling just like any normal swordsmanship. He would practice again after his power had recovered. The Sword of Hades was simply too dangerous; carrying it was like harboring a volcano that could erupt at any mont.
Walking to the window and pushing it open, the fresh morning air carried a slight chill. The sun had already started to rise, hanging in the eastward sky like a giant red gemstone embedded against the azure blue. The morning sun wasn’t blindingly bright and appeared very gentle, but it gave off a sense of vigorous vitality.
Taking a deep breath of fresh air, Ah Dai’s spirit was uplifted, a new day was about to begin. What exactly awaited in the far-off Death Mountain Range?
"Ah Dai, Ah Dai," Xuan Yue’s call ca from outside the door. She sure woke up early!
Opening the door, Ah Dai saw that Xuan Yue’s complexion didn’t look too good. She was still wearing the white Mage Robe, her large eyes slightly reddened as if she had not slept well last night.
Ah Dai said, "Miss Xuan Yue, you seem to have not slept well last night."
Xuan Yue snorted and said, "It’s all your fault. After tossing and turning for half the night, I finally fell asleep, only to be woken up by the cold later." Her sleep last night was much worse than before. She couldn’t help but miss the warmth of Ah Dai’s arms a little.
Ah Dai’s heart skipped a beat, fearing that Xuan Yue had discovered his practice of the Nine Nether Decrees, and he quickly said, "I’m sorry, it won’t happen again."
Xuan Yue pursed her lips and said, "As long as you know you were wrong, you can’t just touch a girl’s body casually. We’re about to set out, and you must listen to my orders along the way. Otherwise, I won’t share the Top-Grade Magic Crystal with you in the end."
Ah Dai nodded and said, "I am your servant, naturally I will follow your orders."
At Ah Dai’s submissive deanor, Xuan Yue felt a displeasure swell within her. She sarcastically said, "You sure have the makings of a servant. In just two days, you’ve already learned to act the part of the underling."
Ah Dai’s body shook, and a mixture of grievance and anger surged throughout him in an instant. Clenching his teeth, he trembled as he looked at Xuan Yue, almost shooting fire from his eyes.
After Xuan Yue spoke, she stood there in a daze, not understanding why she had uttered such hurtful words. That wasn’t her intention at all!
The two of them just stood there in silence, not speaking for a long ti.
"I’m hungry, let’s go have breakfast. Then we’ll set out," Xuan Yue finally broke the silence. Her voice was flat, devoid of any emotion. She turned and walked towards the dining area. Ah Dai remained motionless, standing in place until Xuan Yue’s figure disappeared. He then sighed deeply, put on his red Mage Robe, concealed himself completely within his cloak, shouldered his Tian Gang Sword, and went to the dining area.
Under the awkward atmosphere, both Ah Dai and Xuan Yue ate very little for breakfast, not exchanging a single word throughout the al.
After leaving the inn, the two arrived at the West City Gate. Moon Scar and Yue Ji had been waiting there for a while, but of the dozen or so rcenaries from yesterday, only two remained. Along with the siblings, there were rely four of them now.
Upon seeing Ah Dai and Xuan Yue, Moon Scar hurried over, saying sowhat awkwardly, "Mage Miss, you’ve arrived."
Xuan Yue glanced at Moon Scar and the others, asking, "Why are there only the four of you, what about the other mbers of the Moon Scar rcenary Corps? Don’t tell they’ve backed out."
Moon Scar replied with a wry smile, "I couldn’t help it; after all, we’re all good brothers. This mission is so dangerous, I can’t force them. Besides, many of them have families to worry about. In the end, it’s just , my sister, and these two brothers who stayed. Both brothers are orphans, without any ties, and they are quite keen on joining this adventure."
Xuan Yue replied irritably, "Hmph! I hope you don’t get cold feet once we reach the Death Mountain Range. Otherwise, it would be better to disband now."
Moon Scar said firmly, "You can rest assured on this matter. Once my sister and I decide on sothing, we never go back on our word. Let introduce you to them. This brother here is called Wan Li, specialized in using the Heavy Sword. And this one is Miao Fei, who excels in Fast Sword and movent technique." Wan Li was tall, almost as tall as Ah Dai, and carried a Heavy Sword on his back, even wider than Ah Dai’s Tian Gang Sword, but just a bit shorter in length. His hair was sowhat unkempt, giving off a rugged appearance, seemingly in his mid-twenties. Miao Fei was much leaner and shorter than Yue Ji by half a head, with disproportionately long arms that almost reached his knees. His eyes were sharp, and he was peering at Xuan Yue and Ah Dai in a sowhat sleazy manner. Xuan Yue hadn’t seen his sword, but noticing his monkey-like fra, she couldn’t help but snicker.
