No one expected the recently rescued elf to seek death, it was too late to prevent it. The burst of blood signaled his fall, landing slowly in Zhuo Yun’s arms.

"No——" Zhuo Yun cried out in desperation, "Elf, why? Elf, why would you do this?"

Startled, Ah Dai rushed over to grasp the elf’s hand, infusing him continuously with his True Qi.

The elf gave a bitter smile and told Ah Dai, "Brother, thank you for saving . But don’t waste your strength. I’ve pierced my own heart. I’m truly grateful to you, for giving this chance to end my life. Only death will purify my soul." His voice grew faint. Turning to Zhuo Yun, he struggled to say, "Yun, I.... love... you... I truly... do... love you... but... I can’t... be with... you... anymore. Yun..., I’m... sorry..., I betrayed... you..., goodbye..., my... Yun..., take... good care... of yourself..., don’t... mourn... for ..., there will... surely... be... soone... much... stronger... than... ... to protect... you, to cherish you... Yun..., I truly... miss... the tis... we spent... in the Elf City. Oh! How... I wish... to go... there... one more ti... with you." His voice abruptly ended, tears stread down his face, with a longing smile, he drew his last breath in Zhuo Yun’s arms.

The darkness of the night seed like death itself. Zhuo Yun, cradling the elf’s lifeless body, went completely numb. Ah Dai too was stunned. He could never expect that the one he had painstakingly saved would choose to end his own life.

Yan Shi squatted next to Zhuo Yun. If the sight of her holding the injured elf had sparked a hint of jealousy in his heart before, now he was filled with pity for Zhuo Yun. "Zhuo Yun." he called her softly. Her gaze, blank, turned towards Yan Shi.

With a sigh, Yan Shi gently slid his arms around Zhuo Yun’s fragile figure, saying dejectedly, "Cry if you want to. I can’t believe he was so resistant."

Zhuo Yun burst into tears. The death of the elf was a major blow to her. Her tears soaked Yan Shi’s clothes as she cried out, "Why? Why were you so foolish, it wasn’t your fault! No one would have blad you, Elf, why, why were you so foolish?!"

Yan Shi’s voice choked a bit as he gently caressed Zhuo Yun’s light green hair, "He was a proud elf and felt that his soul had been tainted after suffering such a huge humiliation. That’s why he chose death. Perhaps for him, living would have been more painful than death. Didn’t you see? He died with a smile on his face. I think, he’ll surely ascend to heaven. Don’t be sad."

Zhuo Yun pushed Yan Shi away violently, screaming, "No, no, I don’t want him to die. How do you know he would have suffered more if he lived?" She grabbed the elf’s body, shaking it incessantly, "Elf, you’re just trying to scare , right? You used to scare in the Elf City...I know you’re trying to scare , wake up. Elf..."

Yan Shi closed his eyes, sighed deeply, and said, "Zhuo Yun, if you had suffered the sa fate as him, if you were violated by those evil people, what would you choose when you et him?"
