"Elents of fire that perate heaven and earth, grant the power to burn. In my na, with your force, appear, scorching flas." With a hiss, two deep blue flas suddenly appeared in Ah Dai’s palms. He slowly brought his hands together, chanting loudly, "Ascend, Fire Ball." Under the astonishing influence of his spiritual power, small fireballs about five centiters in diater continuously ford from the blue flas, floating in the air. Ah Dai’s eyes flashed with a sharp gleam, as a large mass of blue fireballs covered the sky and rushed towards the massive building in front of him. The deep blue flas, with their unparalleled high temperatures, set the glittering Dark City Night Club ablaze, and the massive building was gradually engulfed by the blue flas. Watching his achievent, Ah Dai narrowed his eyes with satisfaction, pulled out a portrait of Bing from his chest, turned the face of the portrait towards the flas, and murmured, "Bing, do you see? The Dark City Night Club that made you suffer for so many years has been devoured by the flas. Aren’t the flas beautiful? They will cleanse this filthy place completely, so it can no longer harm anyone." Sighing, Ah Dai continued, "Bing, we have to go now, to find the person who caused your lifeti of suffering." Carefully placing Bing’s portrait back into his chest, Ah Dai’s figure flashed, and he drifted toward the north of the city.
In a gloomy room in the Dark City Lord’s Mansion, Horton paced back and forth, while Cat Woman Mimi sat gloomily beside him. After a day’s rest, Mimi’s injuries had mostly healed, but their hearts had sunk to the lowest depths. The foolproof plan was unexpectedly thwarted, causing such great losses to Dark City; nearly twenty thousand soldiers died under the overwhelming golden energy. Even though Horton had blocked the news, he knew this wasn’t a solution. Eventually, the upper echelons of the Sunset Empire would surely find out. Now, his greatest fear was the magician’s revenge. Just thinking of that young magician who had summoned dragons sent chills through his heart. The power to instantly level hundreds of square kiloters was not sothing he could contend with.
Impatiently, Mimi said, "Stop pacing back and forth."
Horton halted, looking at Mimi, "Miss, give a solution! With the situation like this, how do you expect to explain to the Duke? Moreover, that group might co back for revenge. I’m one of the church’s most loyal friends, and I provide a significant part of the funds it operates on. Surely you wouldn’t just watch die?"
Cat Woman pondered for a mont, her voice filled with hatred, "It’s all because of that bitch called Bing who ruined everything. If she hadn’t shown up, that magician would probably already be dead. I don’t even know how to help you now. Given your relationship with the Duke, he should protect you. But first, we need to take care of that magician. He’s not just a threat to you but to us as well. His power is simply too terrifying, even without the dragon, I might not be his match."
Horton sighed, "I never expected to stir up such trouble. That kid could still summon two dragons even while severely injured and poisoned. Although there are still many experts in the mansion, that gold light cast by sothing unknown was not sothing they could resist." Seeing that everyone who used the Dragon Language spell had died, they could only guess that the golden light was caused by Ah Dai and his companions, but they didn’t know the exact circumstances at that ti.
When Cat Woman recalled last night’s golden light, she shuddered with fear. The mont the golden light appeared, she sensed danger and desperately sprinted, barely escaping the range of its explosion. Yet, the aftershock of the golden light had caused her heart an exceptionally strong shock, the world-destroying energy still leaving her uneasy. She sighed and said, "If it really cos to it, just give up this place temporarily. Co back with to the church, and once we find a way to eliminate that magician, you can return to re-establish your power in Dark City."
Horton was genuinely tempted by Cat Woman’s suggestion, but how could he abandon his businesses here? His roots were here, and if he left, who knew what would beco of it when he returned. Also, his uncle was about to pass away soon, and he had almost bribed all the nobles at court. As soon as his uncle died, he would naturally inherit his uncle’s title of Earl and the position of Lord of Dark City. These were things he couldn’t just give up!
As Horton hesitated, a sudden rush of urgent footsteps ca from outside. A panicked voice cried, "Viscount, Lord Viscount, there’s trouble."
Horton frowned, opened the door of the room, and saw one of his subordinates, his face full of panic and gasping for breath. Horton snapped, "What’s the panic? What has happened?"
The subordinate, gasping for breath, said, "Sir, the Ample Pride nightclub has caught fire, the flas seem quite large, we can clearly see it from here. Please, you must take a look."
Horton was greatly alard. The Ample Pride nightclub could be said to be his main source of inco, having spent nearly a decade of effort to establish its current scale and becoming the first major casino in Dark City. In his panic, he turned his head to look at Cat Woman Mimi who had followed him out. Mimi’s eyes twinkled with a cold light as she said coldly, "Fires do not start without reason, let’s go check it out. Gather all your best n, and be cautious."
Seeing Mimi’s calm deanor, Horton’s heart settled a bit and he instructed the subordinate, "Go, gather everyone here to assemble in the courtyard but rember, do not alarm the Lord. Keep the guarding soldiers away, I don’t want those useless fellows to see anything, do you understand?"
"Yes, Viscount," the subordinate replied, and turned to pass on the orders.
Horton turned back and took a gemstone-encrusted longsword from the wall of the room. This sword, obtained with a hefty sum from a master Alchemist, was three feet and two inches long. It naturally radiated a holy aura without any need for activation, said to be permanently blessed with Holy Magic by a White Robe Priest, capable of dispelling all evil forces. When he had first acquired this sword, he had laughed at the irony himself, given the nature of his deeds; using this sword was truly an irony. Holding the sword, the holy aura filled his being, greatly calming Horton’s spirit.
Looking at the longsword in Horton’s hand, Mimi’s face showed a hint of disgust as she frowned and asked, "Why are you using this kind of sword?"
Horton gave a bitter smile and replied, "Only with it can I feel at ease, I hope it’s not that Magician coming back."
A glint of cold light flashed in Mimi’s eyes. As one of the top twelve in the organization, this was the first ti she encountered soone she felt unable to confront, and her rage had already ignited. She said hatefully, "Even if he cos, what of it? Sooner or later, I will make him die under my claws. Let’s go, your subordinates should have assembled by now."
Horton nodded, and the two walked out of the room together, soon arriving at the courtyard of the Lord’s Mansion. Around forty or fifty people had gathered there, each exuding a somber aura. These subordinates, all recruited by Horton through various ans, included two grand Magicians who had left the Mage Guild. If not for the dozen Magicians previously lost in the confrontation against Ah Dai and others, his force would have been even stronger. Gazing at his extraordinary subordinates, Horton’s heart steadied more, and looking toward the direction where the Ample Pride nightclub was ablaze, he said hatefully, "You all must have seen it, my Ample Pride nightclub is on fire. This must have been caused deliberately, and I do not know who would dare to target my place, but, whoever it is, I will not let them off. Now, it is ti to show your strength, follow ." Saying this, he and Mimi walked towards the mansion’s main gate.
