Kill Me Protect Me, Mr. Bodyguard Chapter 39: Unaccepted Existence

Marabella is celebrating its 35th anniversary, a banquet is held to celebrate, where all the businessn and famous people co to attend the event.

Barney, the owner of the company announced about a man who was called the future of the company.

Ivan Howard.

"Hello everyone, good evening and welco to Marabella’s 35th anniversary celebration. My na is Ivan Howard and I’m the new manager at Marabella," said the Beta man as he introduced himself.

Everyone imdiately whispered about the man who was on stage with Barney. They clapped their hands, welcoming Ivan who was said to be a bright future for Marabella.

"So does that an he will inherit Marabella?" whispered soone at the party.

"I don’t know, but Mr. Barney must really trust that guy. He even called him the future of Marabella." They began to whisper about who Ivan really was.

No one had ever heard of Ivan Howard before. They speculated that the man ca from an ordinary family but he was able to attract Barney’s attention because of his abilities.

However, doesn’t Marabella still have a descendant who is an Oga?

Then why did he choose to call the Beta the future of his company and not his own son?

Everyone began to question this.

Daren himself couldn’t believe what he was hearing and seeing, on stage right now his father was with Ivan, not him. His father intended to make Ivan his successor?

While he was still alive, but he appointed soone else to be in his place.

"It’s true, I’ve been completely disregarded by him. Then what’s the point of coming here?" asked Daren while laughing sadly at the whole thing.

"Heh, it’s not your fault. It’s your father’s fault, why can he make other people the future of his company?" said Axel as he snorted in annoyance at the sight.

He could sense that the Oga next to him was trying to keep himself from getting carried away. Daren chuckled, saying that he didn’t want Marabella.

"Who would want to hold Marabella company anyway? I never wanted it. Let Ivan get it, he’s talented and smart. Unlike an Oga like ," he said with a chuckle even though the Alpha could feel the disappointnt Daren was feeling right now.

Axel sighed then pulled Daren’s body closer to him, he patted the blond man’s head lightly and rubbed it.

"You’re such a crybaby," he said, trying to comfort Daren, though he didn’t know how.

Unexpectedly, Daren suddenly hugged his own bodyguard. He buried his face in the man’s chest as if seeking comfort to make himself feel calr.

Of course it surprised Axel, especially since they were in a room full of people. Luckily they were too busy listening to Barney and Ivan’s conversation to notice Daren.

"Just forget it, you’re hugging like a child," he scolded the Oga.

Even so, his hand kept patting his lightly on the head.

"Sorry, just for a minute," Daren whispered.

In the end, he resigned himself to letting it happen. ’I hope no one realizes this, it would be embarrassing if they saw us. But...’

His brown eyes continued to stare at Daren who was still holding him. He didn’t know why, but he didn’t want to let go of the Oga’s embrace either. He wanted to make his sad face turn cheerful again like usual.

Even though it was annoying at tis, but seeing him sad, Axel felt there was sothing wrong with it.

Just like when Daren cried when Barney shouted at him as the cause of Aldrich’s death.

’Sotis it’s better to lose soone you’ve known forever and move on, than to be hurt by them again and again endlessly.’

In the middle of the banquet, the lights in the room suddenly went out.

"Huh? What’s going on? Why did the lights go out?" the guests asked.

"That’s right, it’s strange that at an event of this magnitude the lights would suddenly go out like this," another guest comnted.

Daren released his embrace, and looked around them. "The lights went out, did sothing happen?"

"I don’t know, but stay close to ," Axel replied as he wrapped his arms around Daren.

However, that didn’t last long because after a few minutes, the lights ca back on, bringing the tense atmosphere back to normal.

"What was that?"

"Sothing’s bound to happen, we better get going, or do you still want to be here?"

For a mont the Oga looked back towards the stage, where they continued their conversation. Seeing how his father was talking so familiarly and friendly with Ivan.

"I think it’s better if we just go," he replied and then walked first out of the party room.

They both intended to head for the hills as Daren felt it was still too early for them to return to the mansion.

"It’s half past ten at night, we’d better go to the hill. I’m too lazy to be at the mansion, maybe we can stay at the hotel," he said.

"Alright, we’re going to the hills." Axel drove the car away from the party building towards the highway.

The journey to the hill needed to take a different road as they were about to enter the urban forest. On the way, Axel realized that there was another car following them.

Not just one, but two cars. "We’re being followed again."

"What? Then we’d better go ho, before--"

BRAKK!

Suddenly one of the cars hit the back of the car Axel was driving.

"T-they hit our car!" said Daren in surprise.

"Tch, they had every intention of doing so. Hey, I’m going to speed up and find a way out, you better be ready!" Axel ordered.

"Get ready for what?"

Not answering Daren’s question, Axel imdiately stepped on the gas pedal and they accelerated. Daren gasped in shock and was terrified by the speed of the car.

He clung to his seat, hoping nothing bad would happen.

However, the car following them also accelerated and managed to equalize their position. The two cars trapped Daren’s car on his right and left.

And again they crashed the car into Daren’s car.

BRAK! BRAK!

"Damn--" Axel was having a hard ti controlling the car, especially since they were on a deserted road, no one could save them if sothing happened.

Forced to do so, he lowered the windshield and took sothing out of his coat.

"What do you want to do?" asked a frightened Daren.

"Stop them."

He pointed the gun at the car next to him with one hand on the steering wheel.
