Kylo’s future problems had, for now, nothing to do with Khalifa. She was just worried about the status of the old man.
There were a total of three ambulances. One was for the old man, the other was where the gangsters were squeezed in, and the last one was for her, the other victim.
Before leaving with the second ambulance, she comforted the dogs and snuck food and water for them from her space.
She arrived at the ambulance and the paradics gaped at her for a mont, before they quickly caught themselves and told her to go in.
The young paradic gulped as he held on the gauze and dicine but his female coworker nudged him, taking the items from his hands.
The female paradic looked at her in worry, but with a calming and gentle expression.
"What about you, are you alright?" The woman asked, cutting off the bloodied parts of her attire.
She was wearing a conservative sweatshirt with a loose jacket, and loose jeans.
While still pretty, it wasn’t the usual outfit of such beautiful won.
She had a deep cut on her beautiful legs, now slightly exposed to the air. The gush and its bloody contrast against her supple skin pained the woman’s motherly heart.
However, she heard an audible gulp behind her and she turned to her male partner with a frown. "Get the antibiotics."
"I… I can help."
The lady almost let out an angry laugh. "Getting antibiotics isn’t helping?"
The man shivered under his partner’s glare and scurried to get the chemical.
She smiled at the dark-skinned woman. "Thank you."
"You’re very beautiful. What are you doing fighting n like that?"
"They were very… cruel. And the old man was a friend." She paused, looking at the woman. "The old man…"
The woman didn’t speak, as she was not sure about the condition of the old man. She did know it wasn’t very good.
The two didn’t speak while the other paradic kept stealing glances at her.
The nurse then handed her a face mask, fearing the nurses, man or woman, would fight to deal with her wounds.
Sure enough, when they reached the ergency room, there had indeed been a number of rock paper scissors fight to see who could change her bandage.
They limited it to the females, of course.
When the nurses that ’won’ went out after dealing with Khalifa’s wounds, they were imdiately surrounded by prying colleagues.
"Her skin is so milky…" one said, hands curling a little as if still rembering. "Like a baby’s."
"Is she a star?" Although she was wearing a mask, she had the figure and temperant of soone famous.
"I heard her voice. It’s like an angel ca down.."
"She seems familiar."
The first nurse was still dreamy, eyes full of envy. "She’s like a newborn…"
"Didn’t you ask what she does?"
"How can I?!"
"Desperate tis, desperate asures."
On the other side, Khalifa rented a private room because even with a mask, she was getting a few stares. Not to ntion, she didn’t want to take it off in public.
Although she was wearing glasses in her scandal with Kaize, so sharp-eyed people would still be able to recognize her.
At this ti, she had taken calls from both Kaize and Jacob, telling them she wasn’t with anybody and resting by herself.
They knew she wouldn’t lie about this and didn’t demand for video calls, even if they wanted to see her.
To safeguard everyone’s sanity, video calls were done only if Khalifa herself initiated it.
A little uncomfortable to be experienced, but what could they do?
None of the n would think they’d ever be willing to be in this sort of relationship, but here they were.
If anything, they’d hope the others would be too uncomfortable and cheat or sothing, that way their position would beco unstable and maybe even lose their rights to touch Khalifa.
However, after about half an hour of peace, Cauis’ call ca. He called as soon as classes were over.
"Hey," he said, smiling. Although he suffered from a boner the whole day from her words, he didn’t show it. Anyway, he just wanted to talk to her again.
"Where are you now?" I want to see you.
Khalifa pursed her lips as she looked at her location. Should she tell him?
"What is it?" He asked, "If you’re with anot–"
"I’m not, not technically." She said, cutting him off.
"What do you an?"
After a mont of thinking, she did tell him in the end.
What surprised her was that he arrived there less than ten minutes later. This was light speed considering he was over ten kiloters away when she called.
"You didn’t get tickets, did you?"
Cauis ignored her and went directly to look at her, finally breathing when he saw she only had a wound.
Then he saw the wound and looked heartbroken.
He sat next to her and she briefed him of what happened. Although the fact that her gaze softened at the ntion of her rescuer alard him a little, he knew it was not the ti to question her.
He had heard her tell him about the old man and the dogs before, and she was obviously fond of him. She must be really worried.
He sat on her bed and held her hand, hoping to provide her with so comfort. Khalifa looked at him with warmth, placing her head on his wide shoulders that brought her a peace of mind.
They waited together to hear news about him.
Hours later, she received news that the operation was successful, but the damage was too much and he was currently in the ICU.
She had a dark foreboding and she was afraid to deal with it. But, as she held Cauis’ warm hand, she gained so courage and she looked at him with seriousness in her eyes.
"I want to see him." She said, and Cauis wore a comforting smile, and patted her soft head with his free hand.
"Okay," he gently said, "I’ll be with you."
