73: Chapter 73: Siege of the Holy Sword Society

The streetlights cast a dim yellow glow on the road.

It was deep into the night, with only the occasional car speeding past, and there was nobody walking on the streets, not even a stray cat or dog in sight.

As Zhao Sheng made his way towards Guangde Mall alongside the high-rise buildings, he kept an eye out for any movents around him.

He took two detours before finally feeling at ease, never suspecting that he was being followed by a balloon drifting high above.

Guangde Mall was built by a rich playboy who had joined the Holy Sword Society, and he had offered up his family’s mall as a temporary base for the society.

With the heavy traffic there, mbers of the Holy Sword Society could blend in without standing out.

The occasional disappearance of one or two individuals went unnoticed.

He entered through a small door downstairs, and the player opening the door was surprised, “You’re alone?”

“Where’s the boss?

I need to talk to him,” Zhao Sheng said with a grim face.

The Holy Sword Society only had a dozen or so mbers, and half of them had left.

Only seven or eight were left at the mall, all of whom were now on the third floor.

“That group had at least five or six people, specifically targeting the Holy Sword Society.

It could be the people from the Special Bureau,” Zhao Sheng said.

“Boss, we can’t just sit around waiting to die!”

“You’re right!” another person agreed.

“I’ve been fed up with the Special Bureau for a long ti, wielding their authority, arresting Red Players everywhere.

It’s ti to teach them a lesson, let them know how formidable we are!”

“Only a player can fight a player, and we, who have evolved, are we afraid of ordinary people?”

“Why not toy with that bunch?

It’s not easy to catch soone from the Special Bureau.

They all have wives and kids, fathers and mothers.

Kill a few of their families, and let them know to avoid us in the future!”

“If we’re gonna make a move, let’s go big.

What’s the point of killing a few ordinary folks?

Ting City is full of high-ranking officials and wealthy tycoons, grab a couple of them, and we’ll have both power and money!”

The group was talking excitedly, evil surging, almost wishing they could rush out to kill right then and there.

Zhao Sheng turned to Old Eagle who was making a phone call, “Boss, I screwed up this ti.

I’m willing to atone for my mistake and take the lead!”

The phone call was not going through, and Old Eagle’s expression turned increasingly ugly.

Suddenly, he stood up and barked, “How did you manage to escape back here?

Cao Yan, Ma Yu—and not a single one of them is answering their phones!”

Zhao Sheng was stunned for a mont.

“Those guys knocked

out and left

aside.

I ran away while Ma Yu was fighting with them.”

“Boss, it’s not that I didn’t want to help, but I was seriously injured.

Staying there would have just caused more trouble…”

Old Eagle frowned and cut him off, “You idiot!

If they were targeting the Holy Sword Society, why would they spare you and give you a chance to escape?”

Zhao Sheng didn’t understand, “Using

as a hostage for a trade…

No, boss, I was very careful when I ca back, no one was following …”

Before he could finish, the windows on the third floor shattered one after another, and several tal canisters flew in, landing on the ground and spewing thick smoke!

“Tear gas!” soone shouted, but was imdiately shot in the leg and fell to the ground!

“Boss, what do we do?” Zhao Sheng instinctively turned towards Old Eagle, but to his surprise, Old Eagle was running faster than anyone, and in the blink of an eye, all Zhao Sheng saw was his retreating back at the staircase entrance!

The ambitious Cannibal Players had a bucket of cold water thrown over their heads; seeing Old Eagle abandoning them, they could no longer be bothered with others.

Those who opted to jump through the window did so, and those seeking a hiding spot did just that.

By this ti, the Special Bureau had surrounded Guangde Mall, and fully equipped special operatives were thodically closing in on the mall.

The Cannibal Players who had jumped from the upper floors, hoping to fight back, were first t with a hail of bullets, followed by electric nets and tranquilizer guns taking turns.

Two were captured on the spot, and one was incredibly fierce, tearing through the electric net and breaking through the encirclent, injuring several people along the way.

“The future belongs to us, players.

You overconfident mortals are nothing but ants under my foot…”

Fifty ters away, responsible for the external surveillance, Nie Xuan gave an order through the headset, “Take the shot.”

“Pfft!” A bullet from an unknown location pierced through the forehead of a Cannibal Player, and a stream of blood spurted out.

Before the body hit the ground, it was quickly dragged away by the special forces personnel.

With the area outside the mall secured, the special forces and the Special Affairs Bureau personnel entered the mall.

Several tear gas canisters were thrown, and imdiately two people ca out with their hands up, tears in their eyes, “Don’t shoot, we are not Cannibal Players!”

The special forces didn’t let them co any closer.

They bound them with an electric net first, then sedated them with a high dose from a tranquilizer gun, and after the people fell, they dragged them out of the mall using a specialized pole from several ters away.

Of the eight players, five were gone in the blink of an eye.

Zhao Sheng and the other two hiding on the second floor could only retract their heads after witnessing the scene.

“What do we do?

What do we do?

The Special Affairs Bureau has us surrounded.

How can we escape?” a skinny young man lanted, pulling at his hair.

“Stop your wailing!

You’ll draw them here!” Zhao Sheng growled in a low voice.

“You have the nerve to talk!

If it wasn’t for you leading them here, would we be in this ss?” the young man grabbed his collar, “I am not a Cannibal Player, maybe I could earn so credit by turning you in!”

Zhao Sheng punched him away, “You’ve got guts, kid!”

“Stop arguing.” A burly man coldly interrupted them, dismantling a tal rack into rods, and handed one to each of them, “Only cowards strike their own n.

The Special Affairs Bureau isn’t giving us a way out, so we don’t need to show them any courtesy.”

“What do you want to do?” the young man asked, shivering.

“Use soone as a shield!” The burly man sneered and then leapt down from the second-floor railing!

A Special Affairs agent was approaching the staircase when suddenly he heard a noise above.

Looking up, he saw a dark figure descending from above.

Before he could make a sound, an iron rod pierced through his mouth and ca out of his lower abdon!

The Special Affairs agent’s eyes bulged, and he instinctively wrapped his arms around the burly man’s arm.

However, he was hoisted up single-handedly by the attacker, hanging on the rod like a skewered piece of at!

“Ugh, ugh, ugh…” A large amount of blood mixed with bubbles flowed from his mouth.

The weak noise alard the nearby special forces.

As they turned around, suddenly soone flew at them!

Instinctively dodging to the side, their gaze shifted for a split second, and in that mont, a figure silently appeared in front of them!

The special forces soldier was startled, and as he raised his gun, it was knocked aside.

The next second, his throat was torn open!

Blood splashed across the face of the burly man, who nonchalantly wiped it off and pushed the body aside before lunging at the next target!

“Bang, bang, bang!” Gunshots rang out continuously inside the mall.

Nie Xuan heard the sniper’s report, “Captain Nie, there’s soone too fast; I can’t hit him.”

“Third squad, report your status,” he said into his headset.

“Captain Nie!

There’s a Cannibal Player slaughtering our n on the first floor of the mall!” a Special Affairs agent reported frantically, “We’ve already lost four people!”

“I’m aware.

You withdraw.

I’ll handle this person.” Nie Xuan handed over his command to his assistant and got out of the car to enter the mall.
