567: Chapter 567: The First Murder Scene

Anyhow, Xu Huo couldn’t stay here any longer.

After getting out of the car, he opened the back door, released the carload of airborne fungi, and then tied the Desert Pinwheel to the kite string, throwing it to the ground so the sandstorm could blow those particles in all directions.

During this ti, he went to the research institute to sweep away the fungus samples and the Fungi Encyclopedia.

Afterwards, he packed up his gear and used “Straight-Line Distance” to accelerate between two points, quickly leaving the scene.

He hadn’t felt the presence of the person at the Bell Tower, but soon after Xu Huo left, Yuan Cun and several players caught up.

Xu Huo put on his protective suit, covering his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose completely, and as he dived to the ground, he brushed it, tore it open, and leaped into the underground lair.

“This move again!” Yuan Cun, who was afraid of the surging mycelium underground, didn’t follow, but told the players who arrived later, “I’ve located him, keep up!”

Xu Huo ran underground while they chased above ground, heading in the sa direction.

Yuan Cun was slightly faster, even getting ahead of Xu Huo, and directly used his gadget to destroy the city surface.

Xu Huo had long been prepared for this move.

When he went down, he simply headed deeper, at least a distance they would find very difficult to directly penetrate from the surface.

Sure enough, after the destruction ahead, he accelerated and rushed in before the rocks and soil completely buried the underground passage, successfully passing through the damaged area.

Little Pink Hat was still by the defense wall; he had to go and retrieve the Awakening Doll.

He sprinted all the way to the vicinity of the collapsed defense wall, but Yuan Cun and the others seed certain he was trying to climb over the wall, and had already blocked the way there.

After the defense wall had collapsed, nearly all the underground fissures in the vicinity were buried, leaving no way to pass through, and Xu Huo was still several hundred ters away from where he had placed the Awakening Doll.

“He couldn’t have been stupid enough to get buried, could he?”

A circular object moving underneath the mycelium in the trench beside his feet struck him on the back of the head just after he spoke: “You’re the stupid one!”

Xu Huo turned and caught the Awakening Doll, pulling up the grimy Little Pink Hat with a smile, “I knew you would definitely escape.”

Pouting, Little Pink Hat said, “You grown-ups are not honest, saying different things to our faces and behind our backs.”

“Of course,” patted the dirt off her dress, “as people grow up, they develop an extra layer of skin.” Xu Huo said, “You’ll have one too when you’re older.”

Little Pink Hat looked at him skeptically, “Really?

Where do you keep your extra skin hidden?”

Touching her head, Xu Huo replied, “You’ll know when you grow up.”

Staring at his face, Little Pink Hat quickly ca back to her senses, “You’re lying!”

Xu Huo laughed, “We’d better get back quickly, soone is coming.”

Reluctantly, Little Pink Hat crawled into the Awakening Doll, but she reminded him before doing so, “Don’t forget my new dress.”

Of course, Xu Huo agreed readily.

He wasn’t planning to leave Clown City, so he needed to figure out how to get over the defense wall.

Tangling with Yuan Cun and his gang was too costly…

Looking into the depths of the lair, he took out the “Open Air Window System”.

“Open Air Window System” could only be used in the spatial areas of non-instance fields.

If the Clown City instance had already ended, this item would allow him to teleport once within the city.

The ti limit for the instance hadn’t been reached yet, but the protective walls had collapsed, and perhaps the instance would end ahead of schedule.

After the air window popped open, he entered, and then both he and the air window disappeared from underground.

Yuan Cun, who had been waiting for his quarry on the ground, slightly paused, quickly looked up in the direction from which he had been chased, and waved his hand, saying, “Let’s go back!”

On the other side, this ti the air window didn’t throw Xu Huo high into the air, but solidly spit him out on solid ground.

Stumbling a few steps out, he ca face to face with a figure standing in the dark.

To the right was a gear device ticking away, and as it clicked, the giant pointer outside the left window also rotated, providing Xu Huo a direct view from his position of the rectangular object covered in fungi on the street—it was the car he had just abandoned.

By such a coincidence, he wasn’t transported to the cleaning zone or Sunset Clown Town as he had hoped, but back to the place he had just left, and it was on that Bell Tower!

The person facing him was undoubtedly the one who had been watching him, but whom he had not detected at all.

The light and shadows from the outer street stread through the huge window.

The shadow of the pointer moved from the twelve o’clock direction to the right, gradually approaching Xu Huo, then passed over his position towards the feet of the man opposite.

The man, maintaining a few ters’ distance from Xu Huo, was dressed in an old leather coat with wrinkled shirt and pants.

He was tall with mutton chop beards and long hair that shrouded his eyes with a slight bow of his head.

The man was folding paper birds, with four already at his feet, seemingly so engrossed in his task that he appeared unaware of the new person’s presence.

Xu Huo treaded lightly as he backed away, whispering “Excuse ” before heading downstairs.

Before he could leave the Bell Tower, Yuan Cun arrived in pursuit.

To prevent Xu Huo from escaping underground again, one of the players set up a cannon and fired at the clock!

Accompanied by a massive explosion, the glass in the buildings on the street shattered, and the splintering doors, windows, and other flying debris beca lethal weapons, repeatedly raking the streets and leaving trails on the walls and ground.

Seconds later, the dust cleared from the Bell Tower, and surprisingly, the surrounding area of several tens of ters was affected, while the front-hit Bell Tower itself was undamaged, not even a crack on the glass of the clock face!

The expressions of Yuan Cun and the others changed slightly, but the next mont a tiny black shadow shrieked as it shot through the clock face, piercing straight through the player who had just shelled the Bell Tower!

With a large hole through his heart, the player fell from the roof, his life extinguished.

Then the second, third, and fourth black shadows flew out.

Both the glass of the clock and the thick walls were pierced with ease, instantly claiming the lives of three players.

Only one player managed to barely use tickets to escape being targeted.

The overwhelming power instilled fear in the other players, who fled the scene without a second thought, using their tickets.

The few who died didn’t even have a chance to take out their Defense Prop, which indicated the strength of the player inside the Bell Tower; staying would be suicide!

In less than a second, everyone Yuan Cun brought with him who was still alive had run off.

He himself didn’t leave but seed enraged, charging into the Bell Tower after using a Defense Prop.

Xu Huo was on the first floor, only feeling Yuan Cun entering the Bell Tower.

He wanted to take the opportunity to leave, but as soon as he stepped out the door, sothing smashed down from above!

Reflexively, he burst diagonally across to the intersection and continued to dash ahead without stopping.

He only glanced back to see: Yuan Cun, who wasn’t up for five seconds, now lay dead on the street!
