Chapter 2016: Chapter 2016: Dissection

"Dissect the body?" a player asked, puzzled. "Is that necessary? Even if we know he was poisoned, how does that change our situation?"

There are ways to deal with this alien, as long as you wear protective suits and masks. The key is not to wear substandard protective suits, otherwise, you’ll end up like this player, dying for unclear reasons.

"If he really died of poisoning, it’s a good thing for us," Xu Huo said. "This ans that the alien can be defended against with props."

If not, it ans the alien has abilities they don’t know about, which is the most dangerous part.

Upon realizing this, soone took the initiative to move the two bodies from car two to car seven and made space.

"Who’s the doctor?" After doing this, soone repeated the question Xu Huo had asked earlier. However, after asking through each car, they found only a veterinarian who was sohow related to dical work.

The veterinarian took out a surgical kit he purchased after becoming a player, which had all sorts of tools inside, but admitted he was not adept at using them, "I’m a country vet, at most I stitch wounds and fix bones, I know nothing about anything else."

"Why do you have so many tools then?" questioned a young man with blonde hair.

"Who doesn’t fantasize about their intelligence advancing after evolution? Doing more job-related things might develop special characteristics; of course, I wanted to try," the veterinarian responded matter-of-factly.

Blonde Hair rolled his eyes and asked the others, "Does no one know how to dissect a person?"

Though theoretical knowledge may be scarce, there are certainly those with plenty of practical experience. A square-faced man with mutton chop beards stepped forward to help, "The person’s dead anyway; dissecting blade by blade—if it truly helps us, it’s good luck for their next life not to be born human."

As he spoke, he really started to cut the corpse’s neck.

Small Flat Head blocked him, "What if there’s poison in the body? Don’t drag us all into it."

If dissection is to be done, the corpse must be sealed separately.

Small Flat Head provided a small experintal chamber with a window, allowing those outside to view the situation within. Both Mutton Chop Beards and Red Scarf volunteered to help, while Xu Huo also entered the chamber. The space inside the train car was already limited, so adding three people made it cramped. Other players remained outside, either because they weren’t good at it or were wary of contamination from the corpse.

"How do we proceed?" Red Scarf asked.

"Just cut as I say," Mutton Chop Beards said. "Aren’t we trying to see how he died? Doesn’t matter how we open it."

Xu Huo had already put on protective gear and selected a knife from the surgical kit, "Let’s start with the brain."

He led the dissection, and seeing his experience, Red Scarf and Mutton Chop Beards didn’t argue, instead, they assisted on the side.

There was never any practical experience with surgery or dissection in Xu Huo’s past mories, but in his recently recovered mory fragnts, Doctor Zhang not only taught him about various organisms but also placed so experintal subjects for him to practice on.

These events happened years ago, but they were vividly clear now.

The deceased player exhibited no struggle before death, so Xu Huo suspected that the alien might have released so substances to paralyze or kill the player before drowning them, although the timing of effect varied, leading to drowning as the eventual outco.

The dissection took less than twenty minutes to yield results. The spines of the three murdered players were damaged, with all nerves severed, as if sothing had bitten through them. Yet, there was nothing unusual in the water inside their bodies, only ordinary water.

"Wow, it’s like paralysis," Mutton Chop Beards remarked. "No wonder they couldn’t move. But their throats weren’t cut, making a sound shouldn’t have been hard."

"Hard to say," Red Scarf noted. "Since the alien can directly damage human nerves, the sa reasoning might apply to their throats."

"No damage to the vocal cords," Xu Huo said, removing his gloves. "Perhaps their mouths and throats were sealed by water before they could react."

Given that their bodies couldn’t move, any faint sounds made in their dying monts could easily be muffled by masks.

"There’s still a problem," he said to the other two. "Did he cut the tear in his protective suit himself, or did another player do it?"

If it were done by another player, it’s easier to explain. If he did it himself, it suggests ntal control before death, and it’s likely he didn’t regain consciousness before his chest filled with water, rendering any pain-induced clarity too late.

"No way," Mutton Chop Beards and Red Scarf exchanged a glance, speaking in unison. The forr continued, "Aliens with ntal interference ability are extrely rare. Even if they exist, they might just ss with vision or hearing, not reaching the level of controlling a player’s consciousness!"

But suddenly they realized, the strange group aboard the train must have been here to unleash the alien.

What if it was a new alien species cultivated by the Hengxing Group?

Bizarre aliens and rumors about experintal trials by Stellar dical were not new in the ga.

The three exited the experint cabin and shared their findings and speculations with the others.

"We can defend against other things, but how do you defend against ntal interference?" the Tie Man asked.

Most items related to psychic power offer so counter-interference effects, but if soone had specifically placed the alien on an advanced player’s train, they must have considered that aspect already.

"Instrunts for detecting spiritual power are available, covering the entire train range," Blonde Hair said. "Everyone can have one, but then again, how far can that alien’s influence extend?"

If it can affect an entire train in one go, aren’t the detection instrunts useless?

"Then prepare more anti-interference instrunts," a long-haired man in a white suit suggested. "They’ll have so effect, and if soone is targeted, others can still co to the rescue."

"But if this is the case, doesn’t it disprove our earlier guess that the box contains the alien?" the fortune-teller woman player looked at Xu Huo.

Xu Huo had already changed into a new protective suit and mask, casually threw the bloodstained old suit out of the hole in the window of car seven onto the tracks, and nodded slightly at the woman’s query, "If the alien can control a player to break the window themselves, it makes sense that it killed soone and then left the carriage without making a sound, suggesting player involvent."

"However, this doesn’t an the box doesn’t contain an alien. The shape of an alien might change, leaving the carriage imdiately after killing to either digest or reproduce."
