Capítulo 1842: Chapter 1842: You Have to Do Sothing While You’re Alive
Juan Er’s perspective was a bit unique. Usually, people who heard this question would first be shocked by such a horrifying thing, then doubt its credibility. No one seed concerned about the issue of the child’s parentage.
“Can humans really have children with aliens?” Brother Wu was genuinely shocked, staring at Chang Shoujie.
Everyone present wanted to know the answer, and with this question ca another one: could humans and aliens genuinely solve Zone 010’s population problem? If possible, what kind of hell would Zone 010 beco?
“I don’t know.” Under everyone’s gaze, Chang Shoujie calmly provided this answer. Since Xu Huo had already brought it up, he couldn’t hide it anymore, and besides, there was no need to conceal this matter.
“Dr. Joyce initially indeed had plans to cultivate the next generation using aliens and put them into practice. But the people in Zone 010 have lost the ability to reproduce. Even if they devolve into aliens, appearing to have stronger vitality, it is still very difficult to conceive or impregnate soone. Just like those ordinary people from outer zones who co to Zone 010, no matter who it is, once they enter the Zone 010 environnt, it seems they automatically lose reproductive capability.”
He slightly lifted his gaze, looking at the boundless Sand Sea. “Just like this Sand Sea.”
After a pause, he returned to the main subject, “We experinted in many places but never succeeded. In the last year or two when I was almost out, Dr. Joyce also seed sowhat disheartened.”
“The last ti he contacted , he just said there were signs of progress and that he was leaving Zone 010 to seek help…”
“Whether he was looking for help or sothing else, I am not sure, but it is a hope nevertheless, even if it’s faint.”
Chang Shoujie knew that this hope might be even slimr than he imagined. Because in these years since he lost his player status, Zone 010 had no news about Dr. Joyce. If he had succeeded, there would be no need for Chang Shoujie; any safe zone could change Zone 010’s fate. The continued silence ant sothing, and he understood what that was.
“So the reason those safe zones shut you out is because of the experint with living people and…?” Gao Dawei’s worldview was reshaped as he struggled to say this, and he realized, “So, the people in the Polar Safe Zone are unwilling to ntion Dr. Joyce because of this.”
Inciting Zone 010 players to attack Sandy Sea Safe Zone might cause many deaths. Still, no matter what, Chang Shoujie’s rit was undeniable. Even if they couldn’t pay the cost, they would at least offer a place to stay. The reason for the current situation is that many safe zones are aware of the human and alien experint, hence their disgust towards him.
“What’s the use of saving Zone 010 this way?” Gao Dawei murmured, “I would have driven you away too…”
“Do you think Chang Shoujie is the only one doing this?” Xu Huo spoke, “I’m afraid so of the safe zones that initially accepted him and Dr. Joyce also participated in this experint, which is why they kept silent after failing.”
This made it even more distressing. At least before, Chang Shoujie was a person worthy of respect and was considered virtuous, while the players of Zone 010 were all people with resolution who refused to leave their holand. From the perspective of Zone 010 people, they were all victims; even if they were desperate enough to turn on each other, it was driven by survival instincts, beyond judgnt.
But now, it seed like everyone in Zone 010 was mixed in a mire. They were not only victims but also perpetrators, even without any bottom line!
A sound ca from afar. Pink Hair seed not very interested in their conversation and turned to chase the player being driven out by the chanized mouse.
“This doesn’t even count as hope.” Juan Er scratched his head, “Even if humans and aliens did have a child, does that an Zone 010 would always have such children in the future? Then humans wouldn’t even be considered human anymore.”
“This matter wasn’t successful.” Chang Shoujie said.
Therefore, there was no value in continuing the discussion.
“So where do we go now?” Black Under the Light inquired.
“The clues about Dr. Joyce are at the place they left from. I’ll make a trip,” Xu Huo left Chang Shoujie and the others, motioning for Black Under the Light and Brother Wu to keep an eye on him and Gao Dawei.
Black Under the Light had no objection. Seeing Xu Huo taking out the teleportation prop, he instinctively wanted to remind that spatial teleportation devices could not be used. But before he could speak, the person before him vanished like the wind.
The temperature wasn’t low in the Sand Sea. Black Under the Light and the others set up a tent with props and hid in the shade before Chang Shoujie asked Gao Dawei, “Did he know what Dr. Joyce was doing from the start?”
Gao Dawei wasn’t sure either, “He initially ca looking for you and probably knew Dr. Joyce. Perhaps Dr. Joyce told him what he was doing.”
Otherwise, who would know what Dr. Joyce was up to besides those Zone 010 players who got involved? And the people of Zone 010 wished they could erase any trace of Dr. Joyce being there, so they certainly wouldn’t ntion it voluntarily.
Chang Shoujie closed his eyes without asking anything more.
Black Under the Light and the others prepared so food and water and gave Chang Shoujie a portion. Juan Er, still admiring him, leaned in for a chat, “Sotis I wonder about the hearts of people like you. Why would soone give up a comfortable life and choose a difficult path?”
Chang Shoujie didn’t respond, and Juan Er wasn’t bothered, drawing in the sand with a strip of vacuum-sealed beef jerky, adding, “But people like you usually die early. Living a few more years wouldn’t be good days anyway. Even if you succeed, it’s not you or your family that will enjoy the future, but strangers.”
“Does fulfilling others fill your heart with strength?”
Juan Er was genuinely curious about the question, not mocking. Chang Shoujie opened his eyes and glanced at him, “People need to do sothing while they’re alive.”
“I know that,” Black Under the Light chid in after taking a sip of water, “For so people, everyday life can’t satisfy their inner selves. These people hold beliefs above all and must find a cause to devote themselves to.”
“Isn’t it good to have such people?” Juan Er turned back, smiling, “I think it’s great. It’s because of diligent people like them that lazy folks like
can take advantage.”
They laughed, their casual deanor making Gao Dawei a bit angry. He was about to say sothing when Chang Shoujie grabbed his arm.
“What? You still want to challenge?” Juan Er leisurely stared at him.
Instinct took over, and Gao Dawei averted his gaze.
Only then did Juan Er raise his hand to pat him on the shoulder, “When your strength isn’t up to par, young man, you should bow your head. That’s how to live longer.”
Gao Dawei dared not speak or push his hand away. It was Brother Wu by his side who interrupted, “That person is back.”
