Chapter 1823: Chapter 1823

(Wait a mont to modify) Looking up, Xu Huo walked up the stairs. When he reached the third floor, he felt soone rapidly descending from the middle of the building. Within a second, they switched to the office floor, and he held Shelter 101 directly below!

The fleeing player had been using a prop to move between floors but unexpectedly stepped onto Shelter 101. Unable to break through this tal prop from the ga, he saw Xu Huo nearby, who raised a crossbow arrow at him!

The crossbow arrow wasn’t a solid arrow but a semi-transparent ice that pierced into the wall and quickly lted!

"I’m not looking for you," Xu Huo clarified. Because of this mont’s delay, the pursuing player had already descended from the floor above. Before he could fully appear, a strange force knocked him back. He carved a deep groove in the ceiling before stopping at the wall’s edge.

The next second, two people and a Stone Lion landed on the sa floor as Xu Huo.

"Da Mao, attack!" Yan Jiayu ordered the Stone Lion to pounce while sticking a muscle doll sticker on her face. Her speed instantly surged, becoming as quick as an uncatchable cannonball, crashing into the person beside the wall!

The player didn’t seem to take her reckless fighting style seriously. With a pat on his shoulder, a blue arc of light imdiately unfurled before him, protecting him. He didn’t spare Yan Jiayu another glance and instead focused on the Stone Lion jogging from the side.

However, just as he was preparing to deal with the Stone Lion, Yan Jiayu, like a live bomb, smashed into him—wasn’t sure if she had other unseen defense props on her, but when she hit the light arc, she directly drove the player through the wall, while the arc cracked as well!

"What!" The player’s surprise was evident, and then the impact thrust him toward the building’s outer wall, where a barrier on the wall surface bounced him back.

As for Yan Jiayu, the one taking the impact, she wasn’t as disheveled. She landed steadily in the middle of the room, waving the Demon-Subduing Pestle and attacked in a flurry!

"Bang bang bang," several sounds, and the Shield Prop was cracked. That player quickly retreated, using a characteristic to temporarily restrain Yan Jiayu’s speed before heading towards Xu Huo!

His real target was that governnt player who hadn’t escaped yet, but before he reached halfway, a cold flash swept from the side!

The pursuing player hurriedly sidestepped, and as he raised his hand, dozens of Cowhair Needles flew out from his sleeve.

The Air Barrier was temporarily unusable, so Xu Huo boldly placed and retracted Shelter 101 upfront, using "Extre Fatigue" and "Progress Bar Disappearance" during the attack.

The player imdiately felt the prop effect on him. With a press on his sleeve, the clothes he wore bristled and then folded like scales. As his clothes changed color and returned to normal, there was no sign of exhaustion on his face!

Yan Jiayu and the Stone Lion ca over, and the lazy Da Mao got hit on the butt, instantly pouring all its rage onto the pursuing player, clawing and tearing him back step by step.

"The role of a vase!" The pursuing player tossed a mat to the ground, causing Da Mao to slip and step on it, with a paw pinned in place.

But this was of little use. The violence-driven Stone Lion directly dug a hole in the ground. Unable to break free from the mat was irrelevant, as it could drag the floors along.

Da Mao proved difficult to handle, and Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu were no less. With Yan Jiayu fighting up close, Xu Huo assisted with props while unpredictably charging forward. In three minutes of exchange, both sides suffered injuries.

"High Intelligence" here doesn’t an those devolved players can think and fight like ordinary humans, but their combat instinct surpasses regular mutant animals. Not being ordinary humans, they don’t respond to human speech, allowing them to evade characteristics and props impacts to so extent. Their long-term life-and-death struggles in ga instances have honed an efficient killing instinct in critical situations. Hence, unprepared, Zone 010 lost a significant number of players, as even attacked players had a certain chance of devolving.

Animal-derived toxins seed specifically directed at players, rendered Antitoxin ineffective upon direct contact. Additionally, alien species evolved from players were more organized, more obedient to commands. They instinctively selected a leader for cooperative hunting—sothing so troupe animals could achieve, but devolved players appeared more efficient, seemingly possessing "human" intelligence.

This internal player devolution severely impacted Zone 010. From then on, players gradually departed their districts. In the short ti it took to transform players into beast-like beings, the places they lived were unsafe. With the harsh external environnt, coupled with the resurgence of Black Thorn, players developed the notion of sheer helplessness to stop Zone 010 from plunging into Shen Yuan. For personal and familial safety, so began to minimize losses.

Once players began retreating, the first line of defense beca precarious. Alien swarms of unknown origin resurged, swiftly destroying nurous cities, subjecting surviving city dwellers to a new cycle of death and devolution, leading to the alien swarms’ numbers snowballing larger over prolonged back-and-forth struggles, evolving into the current state.

Ironically, the sharp population decline in Zone 010 indirectly contributed to a significant decrease in alien swarms. Lack of population ant no new alien joins, no enough food, while mutual killing also served as a depletion thod.

The few local players remaining in Zone 010 mostly stayed out of attachnt to their holand.

Chang Shoujie, from participating in the first out-zone Cannibal Player battle, combatting alien swarms, to later establishing safety zones, slaying devolved comrades, and persistently resisting alien swarms—all he’s done in over twenty years aside from clearing instances was to safeguard Zone 010.

This part of his life’s adventures, the mobilization of players against out-zone players following the transformation of initial numbered safety zones into scattered safety zones and small camps, is but a small portion of his convoluted life journey.

The Central Sand Sea safety zone was originally established by locals from Zone 010, a project Chang Shoujie even participated in. Only after completion did he go elsewhere to help, only to return to find that his sworn compatriots, who once fought alongside him for a better Zone 010, were gone, and a batch of Cannibal Players from other districts usurped their achievents. Using it as a stronghold, they rcilessly slaughtered the Zone 010 people!

To this day, when Chang Shoujie speaks of this past he can barely comprehend, he does so with gritted teeth.
