Chapter 1764: Chapter 1764: Revenge of the Weak

“These two lived in different places, had different experiences, and only crossed paths because they both lost loved ones in the mining accident.”

“They were likely ordinary people for most of their lives. According to the investigation in Tingting Flower Town, Granny i was hospitalized at the ti of Xia Xi Duolaiti’s disappearance and ostensibly didn’t have the chance or ti to leave the town. However, the painting ‘Ember Girl’ completed by Master Soran suggests she actually left Tingting Flower Town during that period.”

“As for what thod she used and whether anyone helped, it’s hard to prove now.”

“Granny i originally buried the remains of her twin sons in a cetery funded by the Tian Tian Le Group, but after the aircraft crash, she secretly moved their remains during a later commoration to Sanhui City, which is Fu Niu Village.”

“Whether changing the burial site has anything directly to do with Xia Xi Duolaiti’s kidnapping is unknown, but it seems she t Enbo in this place.”

“According to a forr technical staff mber at Tian Tian Le Group, the aircraft accident was engineered to silence so unwanted voices. Granny i’s two children were killed because they accidentally uncovered the truth behind the mining accident… It’s his word, with no evidence, but even if true, Granny i’s anger should be directed at Tian Tian Le Group, yet she and Enbo chose Xia Xi Duolaiti as their final target.”

“The reason is quite simple, both treated Matley Duolaiti as the biggest target for revenge.”

Xu Huo displayed part of the truth revealed by mbers of the Hales Group, whose internal belief was that they built a cetery for unnad victims and have been commorating it for centuries, with so retired employees donating large sums annually out of guilt.

“The cetery is within the Hales Group headquarters now and can be verified, proving that the mining group and governnt concealed the true number of deaths at the ti.”

“If earthquakes are frequent and mines aren’t safe, the governnt should enact relevant laws and regulations, avoiding mass recruitnt during peak accident periods.”

“Their failure to act indicates problems within both the governnt and mining group at the ti.”

“Information about earthquake periods and economic shifts in Zone 019 during accident-prone tis is reachable on the Collection of Information Terminal. So involved in gemstone sales might recall the significant increase in the sale of Human Bone Gems following that period.”

“It’s unquestionable that Human Bone Gems originate from skeletons evolved by those who consud the Evolution Potions, becoming special gems after high-temperature processing.”

“However, the generation of these gems relies on luck; not every Evolver’s remains yield such gems, and this likely explains the mining accident outbreaks.”

“Zone 019 was in an economic bottleneck at the ti, and the governnt, unable to reverse the situation, sought funds through this thod, implicating both major mining groups and the District Governnt as accomplices.”

“As the Chief Governor, Matley Duolaiti had veto power, although it might not have been effective given the circumstances, yet the District Governnt’s involvent in the massacre of ordinary people was enough to shatter any sense of belonging for a regular citizen of Zone 019.”

“Granny i and Enbo, being ordinary people, one reclusive in a retirent town and returning only for annual morials, while Enbo masqueraded as a not-so-normal solitary man who dug a 200-ter deep underground chamber beneath his ho, both spent their remaining lives in determination and diligence to accomplish this, successfully kidnapping and killing Xia Xi Duolaiti, preserving his corpse in Amber for a century.”

“The two participants have passed away over the past century, yet the tunnel under Amber Square in Ember City remains. This kidnapping neither had a substantial impact on the District Governnt and mining groups, nor fulfilled the purpose of venting anger, but it indeed occurred.”

Xu Huo paused before continuing, “This is the revenge of the weak.”

Revenge of the weak, yes, what could even the families of those scattered victims achieve, except provoke further ‘aircraft accidents’ and ‘unexpected robberies’? To maintain district stability, the District Governnt had to turn a blind eye, and so these two, one elderly and one disabled, drained their entire strength for revenge.

Their power may be small, but the conviction they’ve unleashed is enough to intimidate anyone.

And they are just two of the weakest among the people once in Zone 019.

Like the roar of ants.

It’s this roar that made the District Governnt and mining groups realize they aren’t absolutely strong, nor without enemies; unseen places could harbor threats.

“As for Master Soran…” Xu Huo paused, “I’m sorry, my Interference Device has been breached, governnt players will soon find this place. Tomorrow morning at the sa ti, I still hope to have a conversation with Matley Duolaiti.”

He finished speaking and shut down the Collection of Information Terminal, removing the overheated Interference Device, when suddenly it emitted a notification sound and displayed a countdown tir.

He had only thirty seconds to leave the retirent ho.

Thirty seconds ant the District Governnt’s players were close, and Space-Ti Items should have set area restrictions. Xu Huo brought out ‘Three Seconds of a Lifeti’, disabling nearby Space-Ti Items and instrunts, preparing to leave with the Teleportation Prop, but then he noticed all ard robots aiming at the retirent ho remained inactive, prompting him to abandon the Teleportation Prop and opt for space movent to a street a thousand ters away.

But he had just landed when he was assaulted from different directions by Offense Traits, a trap presumably set by District players beforehand, yet luckily, the attacks were blocked by ‘Revolving Lantern’, giving him five seconds to escape.

This was the city center; they wouldn’t comnce battle before isolating him in a less populated area. Facing impending Advanced Player attacks, Xu Huo felt imnse pressure, with every move in different directions blocked by unseen walls.

Technology in Zone 019 is ahead of its ti, so any weapon is unsurprising, leaving him no choice but to return to the retirent ho and say to the door-opening Mr. Yue, “Sorry to bother you again.”
