Chapter 1751: Chapter 1751: All the Connections

After discussing so unrelated topics, Xu Huo finally asked about the origins of this museum’s treasure and "Ember".

"This involves the naming process here," the tour guide explained. "Originally, this was just a small town. For a small town, any old na would do. But back then, a large number of amber fossils were discovered, and it was clear prosperity was coming, so everyone suggested coming up with a nice na."

"There were many nas proposed at the ti, and just when no one could settle on one, a man nad Enbo discovered a large piece of amber, which brought fa to the town. So, everyone decided to use his na as the town’s na. The old mayor at the ti was a bit hard of hearing and sohow wrote it down as Ember, and since it was already written, everyone just went with it."

"That’s too hasty, isn’t it?" the short man couldn’t help but sigh lightly.

"Everyone was happy then, and didn’t care about such small details," the tour guide waved a hand dismissively. "However, the next town mayor also felt the na was hasty, so after the discovery of Purple Amber, it was renad Jiusang, which was the na of the first person to find Purple Amber."

It all sounds a bit strange yet oddly persuasive, and the guide then took them to see paper docunts preserved by the municipal governnt — these docunts have been publicly displayed as a tourist attraction for over a decade, detailing how the town was nad after the first person to discover a large piece of amber.

But in the records, it’s written as "Enbo," and there was no record of the accidental transition from "Enbo" to "Ember" as the guide ntioned.

A lot of people ca to see these paper docunts, and the guide’s version is widely circulated, but the evidence is not sufficient. Most people who see it are even more convinced that the people of Jiusang City are lying, because they twisted "Enbo" to "Ember" by changing a single character to attract tourists.

"I swear what I said is absolutely true..."

"I swear what I said is absolutely true. If I’m lying, may my whole family perish!"

Before the guide finished his vow, another guide just ten ters away was making a blood-oath to his guests, as if to say that those who don’t believe him were defying natural justice.

"It’s just for making money, not worth risking your whole family," a tourist patted that guide’s shoulder.

There was a burst of laughter from the surrounding crowd.

The guide standing next to Xu Huo couldn’t continue either, and with an awkward smile, he prepared to take them to the "human testimony" segnt.

Material evidence ca before, now it’s ti for human testimony, and Jiusang City has plenty of elderly people — the main ones they planned to visit were those who worked at the town governnt back then.

Compared to material evidence, everyone was more interested in hearing the human testimony, so there were even more people here. When Xu Huo’s group arrived, the room was filled with players.

Among them were two or three people soone had seen in Tingting Flower Town before, but Xu Huo had changed his appearance and disguise many tis, so those who had seen him before couldn’t recognize him now. As fellow players, they were both comrades and competitors, so as soon as he entered, many secretly sized him up, and only after a few seconds did anyone make space for him to co in.

He was allowed in, while the guide and ordinary people had to wait outside in the courtyard.

Xu Huo leaned against the wall, listening to the elders recounting the origin of the na "Ember" one after the other.

There’s no doubt that the na "Ember" ca from the first person to discover large amber fossils. The town back then was nowhere near its current size, surrounded by mountains. In later city expansions, so small hills that weren’t too difficult to flatten were leveled, but the places that gave rise to the nas "Ember" and "Jiusang" were preserved and remain a tourist hotspot now, although the mountain that produced Purple Amber collapsed fifty years ago and wasn’t managed until more than a decade ago when the "Ember Girl" wave arose, causing locals and outsiders to revisit the mountain.

Of course, the once amber fossil-producing mines remain tourist hotspots, but the locals aren’t very interested anymore.

These are all about "Ember," going on and on but never ntioning the "girl."

The players have tools and devices to discern lies. While these might not work against players, they are quite effective against ordinary people, so the people of Jiusang City can’t lie or make up a "girl". Besides mining or polishing amber, or buying and selling it, such activities are done by adults with experience; minors were rarely involved, most just sneaked in to play, rarely causing trouble. The only major incident was a group of children fighting in the mine, ending up with black eyes. Among them, there were few identifiable won, and even if so were girls back then, they now have children and grandchildren, never having interacted with Master Soran in their lives, so they have no way of knowing if the "Ember Girl" relates to them.

As for the man called "Enbo," he died a long ti ago, and his ho was razed during later city expansions, leaving no trace.

Having listened to this past, Xu Huo checked the tiline. Mr. Yue ntioned that Ember Town as Fu Niu Village’s old neighbor was also a poor place. The "poor place" title should have still been applicable when Xia Xi Duolaiti disappeared. Building a large city is not easy, and mining amber fossils couldn’t be done overnight, so Ember Town should have been preserved for so ti until a few years later, when Purple Amber was discovered, prompting the na change to Jiusang.

Although the tiline isn’t very precise, it matches up generally. More importantly, Ember Town wasn’t prosperous before the na change, so there must have been people leaving ho to work, whereas other gemstone mines elsewhere experienced more accidents than the honest and simple amber mine of Ember Town.

If that’s the case, then Xia Xi Duolaiti’s disappearance could very well be related to Ember Town.

The mining accident details are unknown, as are the family mbers of the victims and those who might have taken revenge on the District Governnt and mining companies, or how these companies targeted the victims’ families, and the governnt’s intentional delays in revealing the Xia Xi Duolaiti disappearance for more than ten or twenty years, making it difficult to connect these details.

"Ember" might refer to "Ember Town," and "Girl" to "Xia Xi Duolaiti." If soone from Enbo or Ember Town, like the Blind Old Lady, is an Avenger, then a collaboration between them isn’t impossible. As for why Master Soran might be involved, it could be because of her father or because of the Blind Old Lady who treated her like a granddaughter. These seemingly unrelated events and individuals are now linked through the hidden thread of "man-made mining disasters."
