Chapter 1599: Chapter 1599: Good Sleep

Chi Xian waved his hand, "When you’re on the verge of death in an instance, everyone who sees ’Midsumr Night’s River of Stars’ has only one wish—riding a donkey with a carrot dangling in front, and there’s just the one carrot."

"Makes sense." Xu Huo chuckled.

They didn’t plan to sleep, so it was best to move around. Thus, they turned back and walked away, checking on the people who were asleep along the way.

Only the ordinary people of Zone 013 could just find a place to lie down. They hadn’t much value to the players and weren’t worried about being killed, so they could just sleep anywhere they could lie down by the street. So of those they saw during the day were still sleeping now.

"Soone’s dead here." Chi Xian found soone who had climbed into a second-floor bedroom of a residential building to sleep. The person was still covered with a quilt and was already cold.

"Poor guy, looks like he didn’t find ’Midsumr Night’s Galaxy.’

Standing in the bedroom, looking at that bed, Chi Xian felt an urge to lie down. He quickly shook his head and watched Xu Huo’s figure gradually receding as he shuttled through the opposite building. The silence surrounding him seed to sink into sleep, creating a kind of indistinct feeling of being isolated from the world.

"You okay?" His shoulder was tapped, and Chi Xian snapped awake, reflexively backing a few steps before looking at the person, "I’m fine, just zoned out a bit."

Xu Huo looked at him steadily for a second, "Be careful, don’t fall asleep."

Chi Xian pulled himself together, "Let’s find sothing to do."

He took out a handful of thumbtacks, "We need to figure out both the sleep and disappearance issues. We’ll split up, and if you find players, mark it with a Green Thumbtack."

As he spoke, he pinned a tack into his map. Similarly, Xu Huo’s map now had a green mark.

"Red ans soone disappeared."

"Black ans there’s a new clue."

After Xu Huo confird the map was usable, he took out two paper phones, "Contact

if anything cos up."

Xu Huo accepted his goodwill and said, "Take note of the ti and any places that seem particularly sleep-inducing."

Chi Xian nodded and left this building first.

Xu Huo looked at the corpse on the bed. Though the person had not long died, the fungi parasitizing him had already reproduced wildly before the body lost all nutrients. Soon, perhaps in a couple of days, the corpse would be devoured clean.

This is how so particularly fungus-dense places in the city were ford.

Regardless of where you were in the city, this was a lifeless place, and the fog made it a sponge soaked through to saturation, making anyone entering feel a damp heaviness that made them unusually fatigued.

"Cough!" Back to the window, Xu Huo coughed up a mouthful of blood — he thought it was blood, but it was actually dead hyphae.

After a simple treatnt, he left the residential building. Not far in another direction, he saw two players lifting an item coffin out of the ground. Opening the lid, they grinned and felt around inside before pulling out a female player who was fast asleep.

"Not bad looking." One directly groped the woman’s chest, chuckling, "Genuine goods."

The tall one pushed him, "Don’t let lust get to your head."

As they spoke, he was about to break the female player’s neck.

"Wait!" The pushed player stopped him, "She’s asleep and won’t wake up, what’s the rush? Why not let

enjoy first!"

The tall one sneered, "In this damn place, do you dare to take off your pants?"

The short player gave a "you don’t understand" look, then took out a toolbox, "It’s not like I have to get personally involved."

Xu Huo had seen enough. He sent out three rounds of Spatial Ray Blades from afar. The first two were blocked by their Defense Props, but the third one, though it didn’t severely injure them, cut open their protective suits.

"Coward!" The tall one waved his hand. The mist condensed into tiny ice shards and attacked in a 360-degree sweep around them.

The surroundings were empty. Not spotting anyone and having been attacked, they assud Xu Huo used a stealth Prop and judged that he was nearby.

But they hadn’t expected the ice shards to et no obstacles in mid-air, eventually hitting buildings or the ground before stopping.

Xu Huo never planned to hide. In the next second, he moved from a thousand ters away, glanced at the female player on the ground who showed no sign of waking, and with a flick of his fingers, the Secant Line crossed the air, directly cutting through their Defense Props, slicing off their heads.

The falling heads added a slight sound to the quiet city.

Xu Huo walked over. While clearing the props from the two dead bodies, he saw the female player struggling to get up from the ground. Although not fully awake from her sleep, she hurriedly said, "I’ll give you all my props... please don’t kill ..."

Without waiting for a response, she started tossing the props on the ground one by one.

Unable to refuse such an offer, Xu Huo did not decline.

He had already collected the props from the recently deceased and now watched the female player discard her items until she stopped, then asked, "Is that all?"

The female player paused and produced two more items.

Xu Huo swiftly gathered the props, pointed at the two bodies beside them, "There’s a pit right here, bury them."

The female player’s limbs regained so strength and she imdiately got up to follow his instruction. Just after she dropped the two bodies into the pit and turned around, she found Xu Huo had already vanished. Her coffin was still by her side. After glancing around, she packed up her coffin and disappeared into the fog.

It was indeed a good ti to sleep, but there were those like Xu Huo who used the night to search. Occasionally, they would co across people who were killed in their sleep, but neither he nor Chi Xian witnessed any disappearances.

Until midnight, there were no significant findings, and Xu Huo selected a few players to follow.

Due to the special nature of this instance, to reduce the risk of sleeping, many players chose not to team up. Like Bian Lu’s group, they traveled together by day and separated at night to find hiding places. Those daring enough to move together were either highly skilled or hadn’t yet learned the dangers of "napping."

Before going through this experience, probably none of the players believed they would fall into such a deep sleep that they wouldn’t respond to external stimuli.

Xu Huo followed these people, watching them go from heated discussions on how to clear the instance to tired silence, then to sluggishness and drowsiness overtaking them.

"Let’s find sowhere to rest." One brawny man said gruffly, "I’m afraid I’ll lack energy to be alert during the day if I force myself to stay awake."

Another player, distinct in his bright Red Protective Suit, said, "It must be the fungal poison. Who would have thought even the suit doesn’t protect against it? I wonder what kind of fungus it is; the hypnosis effect is so strong."

They were worried about the lethargy lasting even into the day, making them more vulnerable once other players beca active.

The brawny man remarked, "Since the suit isn’t of much use, there aren’t many poisonous fungi here. Let’s use so Antitoxin and take turns keeping watch."

Despite those words, half an hour later, without exception, everyone was asleep, whether resting or on watch duty.

Xu Huo bypassed the traps they set up and appeared in the middle of the room. He looked around and then sat down, expanded his "Cubic Space," amplified his spiritual power, and took out the tallic sphere, manipulating the engravings with his fingers.

As the tallic sound of "click" "click" filled the air, the fog outside the window seed to thicken slightly.
