Chapter 1515: Chapter 1516: The Missing Kindergarten Children

The base command provided Xu Huo with the subsequent movents of the "old acquaintance" upon inquiry.

"He went to the A7 Safe Zone after slicing half the city."

"The A7 Safe Zone is now controlled by several out-zone players, and it’s impossible to observe the situation inside the city from the outside. However, in the fragnted information intermittently coming out, there’s ntion of that Super Evolver."

For the people of Zone 017, nothing could be worse, because they don’t know the whereabouts of the Super Props either, and with the out-zone players hijacking the city, they have no ability to handle the situation.

Of course, they also know that relying on the goodwill of the out-zone players is absolutely impossible. So now, aside from using ambiguous false information to lure and kill so people, they can only hope for internal conflict among the out-zone players.

The base command chose to tell Xu Huo about the subsequent information for this reason.

After leaving the military base, Ma Zhi asked Xu Huo, "Are we going to the A7 Safe Zone now?"

"Dingtan City," Xu Huo said.

"Isn’t Dingtan City already destroyed?" Ma Yu was puzzled about why he still wanted to pay a visit.

"I have a bit of a grudge with that Super Evolver," Xu Huo said to the two of them: "I can’t travel with you."

The Ma Siblings had also reviewed the data on Dingtan City. Being able to slice a small half of the city into pieces wasn’t sothing ordinary players could do, and since the base command ntioned the person was a Super Evolver, the thod of destroying the city must be related to their Evolutionary Power.

The two admired Xu Huo for his courage to take the initiative to find them, though they were not prepared to continue on the sa path with him.

Xu Huo nodded slightly to them, "Until we et again."

After saying that, he used the "End-to-End Ring" to go to the next city.

Using the Teleportation Prop can easily cross cities, but it requires a brief transit in each city. After passing through sixteen cities in total, three of them, like the one Xu Huo ca from, were entirely empty, while the rest had various situations.

So cities had only experienced minor looting and were relatively fine, while a few cities had beco places of crossfire between different forces, so local, so from out-zones. Xu Huo, while passing through a large-scale crossfire area, was even attacked. After he figured it out, one of the warring parties was the Dark Power and prisoners who had robbed a local arsenal; he sent them a "no-foot package" using "Horizontal Cut".

More commonly, there were small groups of out-zone players intending to seize an opportunity on their way to larger safe zones. The country might be unwilling to pay ransom anymore, but in smaller local governnts, it might compromise. Of course, how much money and Props can be obtained, and whether promises would be kept in the end, is uncertain.

By dusk, Xu Huo arrived at Dingtan City.

This is a city both unfortunate and fortunate. Unfortunately, out-zone players destroyed half the city unpredictably, as if slicing vegetables, but fortunately, due to this player’s presence, many out-zone players avoided the sharpness and were unwilling to linger here.

After five days of effort, the rescue activities had basically ended—all who could be saved were saved, and it was estimated that the remaining ones couldn’t survive. Therefore, the focus of the entire city had shifted to city-wide protection, as migrating to nearby safe zones was obviously impossible, so they could only defend on the spot.

"...Twenty-five children, are you just going to ignore them?" a tearful female voice echoed on the street as a couple tugged at a passing military unit.

The leading officer instructed the unit to move ahead while he stayed behind to face the couple, saying helplessly, "We’ve searched five tis; those children aren’t coming back."

This couple were survivors of the city’s collapse. They were teachers at a kindergarten, and after being rescued, they reported the disappearance of twenty-five kindergarten children. At the ti, many military police were deployed to search, but the final result was that they had already gone missing before the city’s collapse, and most of the children’s parents, who lived nearby, had perished.

These two teachers were very responsible and sought help many tis, but both the military police and the army had searched nurous tis and found no trace of any kindergarten children. They weren’t buried within the kindergarten or found in the vicinity; the twenty-five children had simply disappeared.

The military was very aware that it was the actions of out-zone players, but they didn’t know why only that specific kindergarten was targeted—now Dingtan City had no strength left to pursue the reasons; surviving was their primary concern.

The officer pulled the hand of the female teacher away and turned to leave, while the female teacher slumped to the ground, losing her support. "So many children... are they not going to be searched for?"

The man beside her held her shoulder, "It’s not that they don’t want to search, they can’t. You’ve seen the current situation. If they’ve been brought into the ga, how can we ordinary people find them?"

The female teacher’s tearful eyes gradually turned from confusion and despair into a trendous hatred: "Those damned out-zone players...!"

This remark made Xu Huo, who had just walked up to them, stop. The male teacher was the first to see him and beca vigilant imdiately, "What are you planning to do?"

Unlike the frightened and exhausted people in the city, Xu Huo’s clothes were clean, making it easy to guess his identity.

"Could you take

to the kindergarten where the children disappeared?" Xu Huo asked.

The two didn’t understand his intentions. The female teacher, with a glimr of hope, asked, "Can you help us find those children?"

"If, as you said, the children disappeared suddenly, it’s likely they can’t be found," Xu Huo said frankly.

The female teacher clenched her teeth, "One cannot give up even with a bit of hope... The youngest children were only two years old, who knows what will happen to them after being abducted..."

All of the city’s people and resources were migrating to the preserved half of the city; few were going the opposite way, but there were so.

People who wanted to retrieve their possessions had long gone back. Those still trying to go back either didn’t want to live or refused to give up on missing relatives.

Following the direction indicated by the two, Xu Huo quickly took them to the kindergarten.

Half of the kindergarten area was buried under the collapsed building next to it, and several rescue openings had been made outside. However, standing outside, it was confird that there was no one inside; apart from the adult bodies that ca down with the building, there were no traces of dead or injured children.

"Was the surveillance preserved?" Xu Huo asked.

The female teacher shook her head, "Before the building collapsed, the surveillance in this area was already broken. At that ti, Teacher Zhao and I were preparing snacks for the children, and it took only about two minutes in the kitchen. When we ca out, the kids were gone. We were injured by the falling debris and fainted for several hours before regaining consciousness."

"The children should have gone missing before the accident," Teacher Zhao said. "If half the city hadn’t collapsed, I would almost think soone destroyed the building to cover up this incident."

Xu Huo understood that such seemingly impossible guesses might just be the truth. Players might have the capital to act recklessly, but being cautious and leaving no trace fits their style. Destroying surveillance and the city might have all been for that one thing.
