1173: Chapter 1173: Spatial Puzzle
Wang Dafa could adapt to circumstances, but Sun Minqi couldn’t bring himself to compromise.
Ban Tao and Wei Yan leaned towards acting independently, and in the end, the decision was handed over to Wei Mang.
“Our goal this ti is to find props for Miss or secure a dungeon venue,” Wei Mang said.
“If we travel with Xu Huo, the good items won’t co to us.”
“In that case, going solo works too,” Wang Dafa said amicably.
“But we’d better hurry, or the good items will all be taken by others.”
It wasn’t just them thinking this way; players scattered in all directions, near and far, speeding up their pace.
Song Xiaohua noticed the commotion around them and couldn’t help but say, “Should we keep taking photos?
What’s the point of photographing these things?
They’re all quite similar.
If soone else gets the dungeon or good props first, wouldn’t this trip be wasted?”
“It would indeed be a wasted trip.
This place probably isn’t a dungeon venue in the process of forming,” Xu Huo said.
It was most likely just a Ruins Space.
In his opinion, the area was clearly composed of multiple overlapping spaces, with space wrapped within space.
The boundaries were not fixed, and neither the positions nor the forms adhered to any standard.
Detecting patterns required ti and manpower, but there were significant limitations to exploration.
The first limitation was that ordinary players couldn’t actively interact with multiple spaces unless the Ruins Space changed automatically.
This alone excluded almost all players who had entered today—if this were a forming dungeon, they would at least have to understand part of its rules, which was evidently impossible for these players.
The second issue was the occasional appearance of black regions within the space—a type of void where light couldn’t penetrate.
Whether these regions were just pure darkness or, as Song Xiaohua speculated, connected to other spaces, the risks of direct exploration were substantial, especially given the precedent of personnel from the Special Defense Departnt disappearing.
The overarching characteristic of this Ruins Space was its chaotic nature, making it comparatively more dangerous than risk-controlled dungeon venues or spaces in the pre-ford state, like the Seventeenth Hospital before its stabilization.
In other words, if one were to enter unstable spaces or spaces not yet integrated into the ga’s dynamics, catastrophic consequences could follow.
The most evident indication of this was the missing island.
The island had undoubtedly been absorbed into this space, yet up to this point Xu Huo hadn’t encountered anything related to the island in any of the spaces he’d previously explored.
The possible explanations could only be twofold: either the abundance of independent spaces made the island difficult to encounter in the short term, or, as with those floating buildings now swallowed by darkness, it had vanished.
Therefore, in Xu Huo’s view, this space didn’t possess the conditions necessary for a dungeon to form.
Even if it were forming now, the players present wouldn’t have the capability to control it.
“Then shouldn’t we leave imdiately?” Song Xiaohua pointed at the buildings in the sky being engulfed by darkness.
“Two more have disappeared since we started talking—I’m worried this space will eventually be swallowed up entirely.”
“That probably won’t happen,” Xu Huo continued walking ahead.
“Didn’t you hear the Special Defense Departnt personnel earlier?
These black regions disappear periodically—they fluctuate.
As long as we avoid entering them, there’s little to no risk.”
“Hey, look over there!
There are actually two daredevils,” Song Xiaohua said, his gaze suddenly sharpening as he gestured with his hand.
There he saw two mbers of the Player Organization cautiously testing the edges of the darkness.
Apparently, they had first used props to probe for safety before deciding to proceed themselves.
While Song Xiaohua was speaking, the two had already stepped into the dark zone.
“Didn’t they hear the Special Defense Departnt warn about the dangers inside?
Their guts are unreal!”
“Perhaps they have so way to mitigate the risks,” Xu Huo replied, not dwelling on it and raising his phone again.
The photos he took revealed that the ruins along their path had repetitive patterns.
This repetition wasn’t in layout or scale but in the shape and degree of destruction.
The directions, however, had been altered.
Overall, the Ruins Space resembled a giant puzzle—every piece was of similar size and shape.
By slightly adjusting the angles of the puzzle pieces and repeatedly rearranging them, a boundless world of ruins could be created.
But under this assumption, the space was finite.
Perhaps by locating the boundary, one could enter the next space.
Of course, that would only be the next space, and no one knew whether the spaces within were as nurous as puzzle pieces.
A viewpoint framing the space as infinitely repetitive across dinsions suggested an odd, majestic beauty.
“How was such a space created?” Xu Huo touched a stone fragnt in the ruins, but the next second, the piece he touched flew up on its own.
In fact, it wasn’t just that one stone; smaller fragnts in his vicinity began to rise first, followed by building debris ranging from the size of a human head to half a person’s height.
These remnants of the ruins floated unevenly around him, stretching across a radius of a hundred ters!
Behind him, Song Xiaohua was stunned and had just started to say sothing when all the stones suddenly flew toward Xu Huo!
The fragnts rubbed against the air at high speeds, creating sharp, continuous hissing sounds.
In an instant, these bullet-like projectiles sealed off Xu Huo’s original position tightly, colliding in layers, large and small, with a deafening blast akin to an explosion!
The commotion drew the attention of nearby players, but by the ti they turned their heads, they only caught sight of a figure flying out of a roughly spherical cloud of dust, after which fragnts of stone poured down in torrents.
As the figure retreated, large and small stones in the ruins floated once more, seemingly conscious as they chased after their target!
Blocked repeatedly from both front and back, Xu Huo found his “Towards the Destination” prop suppressed and unusable.
Relying on his Spatial Power, he darted through the ruins while creating Spatial Barriers to fend off the relentless waves of pursuing stones.
With the Cubic Space in hand, he was able to view various uneven rays in the air and naturally pinpoint the source controlling the stones.
Accelerating, he vaulted over several massive rocks and simultaneously activated his Spiritual World, opening a portal mid-air and instantly crossing to the source of the controlling rays:
“Since you’re here already, why not co out openly?”
“Death of the Holder” swept past the area directly ahead of him.
Alongside the activation of two portals, a Rank A Prop—a black tal Bead that normally couldn’t penetrate multiple spaces—briefly vanished into an unseen void.
In the next mont, shards like fractured glass appeared in the air, and the heavily made-up Magician erged, staying twenty ters away from Xu Huo.
Without a doubt, he had successfully evaded the assassination attempt of this Rank A Prop.
But within that brief ti fra, Xu Huo had maneuvered behind him—waiting for him were nurous intersecting Secant Lines suspended mid-air!
