She was filming another eating scene that day, and it was high-grade steak that the hero had cooked for the heroine. The steak was specially prepared by the head chef of one of the Yu’s restaurant branches. Per the rules of the universe, Pei Ying first took a photo of the al and posted it to Weibo. (Note: I just noticed that Universe Pictures and the restaurant group are both headed by families surnad Yu, but to clarify, they are different groups.)
As usual, there ca a wave of envious comnters, who were especially proactive.

Pei Ying wasn’t done after her Weibo post though. She even went and sent Song Nanchuan a photo.

[Song Nanchuan] Flaunting food to again?
[Ying Ying] Can’t help it. It’s too good!
Pei Ying smiled at his reply, but before she could type more, the assistant director called for her. It was ti to continue filming. The next scene wasn’t about food, but instead an intense emotional mont between her character and the male lead. She quickly set her phone aside and focused on her role.
Later that evening, after filming wrapped up, Pei Ying checked her phone again. A new ssage from Song Nanchuan brought a smile to her face.
[Song Nanchuan] Busy day? I’ll make it up to you with a steak better than that one.
Pei Ying replied instantly.
[Ying Ying] Bold claim. You’d better deliver.
[Song Nanchuan] Co over and find out.
Unable to resist the invitation, Pei Ying found herself heading straight to his apartnt. When she arrived, the scent of freshly cooked steak filled the air, making her stomach growl.
Song Nanchuan greeted her with a casual smile, an apron tied around his waist. “Perfect timing. Dinner’s ready.”
Pei Ying raised an eyebrow. “You’re really serious about this, huh?”
“Always,” he said, gesturing for her to sit.
As she took a bite of the perfectly cooked steak, Pei Ying couldn’t help but sigh in delight. “Okay, I admit. This is better than the chef’s.”
Song Nanchuan leaned back, looking smug. “Told you.”
Pei Ying laughed, her heart feeling unexpectedly light. For the first ti in a long while, she realized that life wasn’t just about work. It was also about monts like this—filled with good food, warm laughter, and soone who truly cared.
