Chapter 1003: Chapter 1003: Breaking the Ice! Chapter 1003: Chapter 1003: Breaking the Ice! “`

“That sounds good, let’s ask for his opinion before making a decision.”

After Di Yelei went out again to attend to the guests, Liu Sisi thought for a mont and ordered soone to call for Di Xuan.

Ms. Gao didn’t take long before she returned, “Princess, the Second Young Master has already left. He is said to have gone to the old house. Should soone fetch him back?”

“Xuan’er went to the old house? Did he say what he’s going there for?”

Liu Sisi was sowhat surprised.

The old house had originally been sold by Di Gaoyuan, but was later redeed by Liu Sisi. Now, Di Gaoyuan was still the one living inside, which really showed how thick-skinned he could be.

Ms. Gao glanced at the doorway and whispered into Liu Sisi’s ear, “It is said that Elder Mr. Di sent soone to call the Second Young Master away. Apparently, it relates to Ms. Di Wei.”

“Ms. Di Wei? Are you talking about Di Wei, what happened to her?”

Liu Sisi hesitated for a mont before she recalled that years ago, Di Gaoyuan had sold the right to make decisions about Di Wei’s marital prospects to her in full.

“There was so commotion among the male guests yesterday. Elder Mr. Di actually ca as well, and he even made a fuss about sitting at the seat below Grand Master Di, only to be coaxed away by the Grand Master,” Ms. Gao’s voice was soft.

Di Hongyuan had driven Di Gaoyuan away?

“There’s actually such a matter, why was I not inford?”

Liu Sisi spoke indifferently, but there was no hint of resentnt in her eyes.

“The Old Master Marquis said that these were minor matters. He specifically instructed both the senior and junior managers not to tell you,” Ms. Gao added.

The Old Master Marquis only gave instructions to Da Niu and Er Niu, but not to Ms. Gao.

Liu Sisi also laughed!

Standing up, she said, “Since Xuan’er has gone there, I believe we will soon receive detailed news. Let’s wait and see.”

During their conversation, another servant ca to report, “The Old Master Marquis says the Lord County Magistrate, accompanied by local gentry, has co to visit and invites the Princess to walk around and take a look.”

“Tell the Old Master Marquis that I am aware. I will join right after washing up.”

Liu Sisi didn’t refuse; it was rare for her to return to her hotown, and naturally, she wanted to walk around and see things for herself.

However, what Liu Sisi hadn’t expected was that their first stop turned out to be Di Family’s Ancestral Hall!

The first ti the main Di Family branch took the initiative to get in touch with this branch, Elderly Mr. Di was still alive. It was customary for the Di Family to place statues of their officials in the Ancestral Hall. Initially, Elderly Mr. Di wanted to add Yelei’s statue in the hall but was refused.

This ti, coming along with County Magistrate Zhu, were several elders from the main Di Family branch, and even the Di Family clan leader himself had co in person.

“…We heard the news and hastened here, but still ended up one step behind. We didn’t arrive in Macheng County until after dark yesterday. We thought it was too late to co by, it would be quite inconvenient, so we stayed for one night at the inn. Early this morning, our group hastened over here,” the elder clan leader of Di Family said, increasingly frail with age, his face densely wrinkled and his eye sockets deep, gasping for air as he spoke.

“Soone, bring the soft sedan chair the Marquis has prepared.”

“`

Di Yelei reverently assisted the other onto the soft sedan chair before he finally relaxed.

It would be terrible if anything were to go wrong, if the person were to accidentally fall, that would be disastrous.

Liu Sisi sat straight and quietly on the phoenix palanquin, her gaze sweeping lightly over the crowd without any intention of stepping down.

She vividly rembered how the mbers of Di Family had treated her initially, how they had treated Di Yelei, and how they had treated the children when there was trouble. Although their attitudes had changed later, right after Di Yelei went to the battlefield and chaos erupted, the Di Family sent only a few ordinary clan mbers.

To have the clan leader and elders co together like today was an extraordinary occurrence.

The elder clan leader, showing a toothless grin, said, “I thank the Marquis for pitying this old man. From now on, all of my Di family’s mbers will look up to the Marquis as their leader and hope that Your Honor will work harder for the prosperity and protection of the Di Family.”

“We shall do our best. As a mber of the Di Family, Ye Lei certainly takes it as his duty to bring glory and honor to the entire clan.”

Di Yelei spoke earnestly, greatly satisfying the elder clan leader.

The Di Family’s Ancestral Hall was originally located near the old house, but ever since Di Gaoyuan sold the old house, Liu Sisi had moved the ancestral hall to the back mountain, leaving an old servant to guard it daily.

The group quickly arrived at the Ancestral Hall. The hall was evidently much larger than when Liu Sisi was last there, expanding from two adobe rooms to four, and several big trees had been planted on either side, which astounded Liu Sisi.

“These were all done by Gao Yuan. He knew he had done wrong and wanted to make ands. After much thought, he decided to expand this ancestral hall significantly and plant more trees to amass blessings for future generations,” the clan leader said, albeit a bit shalessly.

One mistake led to another!

In order to control this branch of the family, he had once instructed people to join forces with Di Gao, intending to give these unruly locusts a lesson!

However, what they did not anticipate was Di Yelei joining the battlefield in a turnaround, climbing the ranks to beco a Marquis. And Liu Sisi herself transford into a Princess. The locusts they once expected to grovel beneath their feet suddenly beca elephants, no longer beings they could look down upon!

Hearing that Marquis Yongping had been ordered to visit his holand, everyone’s thoughts perked up. After deliberation, they unanimously agreed that showing sincerity was imperative, and sending a few ordinary clan mbers again was definitely not sufficient. Hence, they decided that the clan leader and the elders would go together, leaving no room for the other side to make excuses. So, they set off early to wait in Macheng County.

Unexpectedly, after arriving in Macheng County, they waited to the left and to the right; when the clan mbers they were waiting for did not co for several months, and they returned to the main Family, the others arrived!

Once again, they hurried over in a rush, shuttling several tis, fatiguing these old folks to the point of near collapse. Just yesterday afternoon, upon reaching Macheng County, they collapsed, found an inn, and stayed. Only after resting for one night and feeling much better did the group seek out the County Magistrate and together headed here.

Besides paying homage to the ancestors of the Di Family, their intention was to resolve the conflicts with Di Yelei and others.

The discord between Di Yelei and Di Gaoyuan naturally needed resolving as well.

Di Yelei glanced at the clan leader, his gaze sweeping over the still unmoving Liu Sisi, with no intention to continue the conversation.

Instead, he pointed to a narrow path nearby: “This path is a bit narrow; we had so difficulty coming up earlier. Soone, quickly widen the path by one foot to facilitate carriage access.”

“Yes, my lord.”

His trusted followers took the command and left.

Soon, a commotion arose from below, and just as the clan leader, the elders, and everyone else were confused, a villager with a pale face ran up.

“Soone, soone is paving the road. Their actions are very fast, and it will soon reach here!”
