In the original text, after Tang Monk reached Lingyun Crossing, he abandoned his mortal form and attained a golden body.

“Buddha, our original plan was to create difficulties when Xuanzang boarded the bottomless boat, but now they won’t even board the boat. Does this not an the plan has failed?”
Seeing Tathagata’s serene deanor, seemingly not worried at all, a Bodhisattva below asked!
“No worries…”
However, upon these words, Tathagata shook his head, appearing nonchalant, saying:
“Our original intention in planning this was to create a calamity and trouble for Xuanzang and his group.”
“Now, if they don’t board the boat, they’ll have to figure out their own way to cross, which in itself is troubleso, isn’t it?”
“Hmm, what Buddha says is reasonable!” Listening to Tathagata, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas at the Great Thunder Monastery nodded in agreent!
Upon careful thought, indeed, it seems right!
Lingyun Crossing isn’t that easy to pass up. Without the guidance of the bottomless boat, getting across should indeed require so effort, shouldn’t it?
This is a calamity!
“Master, what are we going to do next?”
At this ti, Sun Wukong and the others kept their gaze on Jiang Liu, asking him!
“Next? We need to find a way to cross it ourselves!” Jiang Liu replied upon hearing this.
Is Lingyun Crossing the eightieth challenge? Actually, Jiang Liu admitted in his heart that this challenge could not be avoided!
