The scenery of Black Wind Mountain was strikingly beautiful, with countless ravines crisscrossing and cliffs competing in splendor, lush with vegetation and flowers as if it were the cave dwelling of immortals rather than a haunt for monsters.

At this mont, beneath a stone cliff in front of a fragrant grass slope, three demons were seated on the ground.

At the head sat a dark man, to the left below him was a Taoist, and to the right below, a scholar in white robes, all engaged in animated discussion.

Their discourse covered the establishnt of cauldrons and furnaces and the refining of rcury with sands, alongside topics considered heterodox and unorthodox.

The dark man was none other than the Black Bear Demon, the Demon King of Black Wind, the Taoist was the Grey Wolf Demon Ling Xuzi, and the scholar in white was White Snake Demon Lord White Snake.

As they were getting excited in their talk, the Demon King of Black Wind suddenly said, "Fellow Daoists, have you noticed the recent appearances of that beast resembling both fish and bird, coming and going?

Ling Xuzi responded, "How could we not notice? That creature is likely one of the strongest beings in this world."

Lord White Snake shook his head, "And there’s also that King of Tianzhu nad Zhou Kao. His voice spread alongside the beast, but his realm remains uncertain to us."

The Demon King of Black Wind laughed, "I’ve made inquiries, and this might just be our opportunity."

Ling Xuzi and Lord White Snake exchanged glances, both surprised.

The Demon King of Black Wind continued, "The King of Tianzhu, Zhou Kao, has begun his reign and is poised to challenge the Han of Eastern Earth. Given that Black Wind Mountain is not far from the Han territory, it lies directly on the path whether Tianzhu advances eastwards or Han moves westwards.

Looking at the current situation, the Han forces in the Western Regions are moving frequently, likely preparing for an advance westward."

Ling Xuzi’s eyes shone, "I understand. If we can help Tianzhu halt Han’s western advance, when Buddhism flourishes as a result, we will have our share of rit and achieving true fruition will be within reach!"

Upon hearing ’true fruition,’ the Demon King of Black Wind’s eyes filled with longing.

Lord White Snake sneered, "Just stopping them won’t suffice, we must annihilate these humans completely to ensure the Han have no strength to push westward!"

The Demon King of Black Wind nodded, "If all goes as expected, Han’s western forces will pass through Stay Cloud Lower Court twenty miles away first. That place was once the enlightennt site of the Guanyin Bodhisattva

and I am also acquainted with the abbot there, Stay Cloud Elder. If Han attacks Stay Cloud Lower Court, it will be a perfect opportunity for us to intervene and possibly earn the Bodhisattva’s favor."

The Grey Wolf Demon and Lord White Snake, one ambitious and the other ruthless, both agreed with this plan.

The three demons then began to discuss specific strategies, calling upon their subordinates to join them.

They were all brimming with confidence, considering the human race, although nurous, as re ants, easily crushed by the thousands, and not worth worrying over.

But just three days later, a minion burst into Black Wind Cave, reporting anxiously, "Your Majesty, trouble! The Han army hasn’t gone to the Bodhisattva’s monastery but is heading straight here."

The Demon King of Black Wind was sowhat surprised and asked, "How many are coming?"

The minion replied, "Just over eight hundred n, but their leader is very tall, with such robust qi-blood that I dared not look him in the eye."

The Demon King of Black Wind laughed heartily, "Haha, these humans must have eaten the hearts of bears and leopards to dare such a thing! Let’s go see for ourselves!"

Saying this, he grabbed a Black Tassel Spear and left the Black Wind Cave.

Ling Xuzi and Lord White Snake shook their heads and followed him out.

The three Demon Kings stood on the stone cliff outside Black Wind Cave and saw more than eight hundred n in Spear-Piercing Armor positioned before a valley at the foot of Black Wind Mountain.

The leader’s imposing aura was overwhelming, causing the three demons to visibly blanch.

...

Inside the Tianzhu Royal Palace.

Zhou Kao, Guanyin, and Jia Ye were closely monitoring the frontline battle, a shimring screen before them like a bubble, showing the scenery of Black Wind Mountain.

At that mont, they saw Lu Bu leading his troops to the foot of Black Wind Mountain.

Zhou Kao frowned, and Jia Ye also appeared shocked; they had not expected the Han commander to possess such formidable strength.

Guanyin explained, "Your Majesty, this man is nad Lu Bu, the most fearso general presently in Han. He was recently taken as a disciple by Sun Wukong and, under his guidance, has achieved the status of a Martial God and was appointed by the king of Han as the Marquis of Wen."

Jia Ye shook his head slightly, "A marquis of Han... With the addition of Han’s national fortune, he might well be able to contend with a Daluo Golden Immortal."

Guanyin smiled, "Your Majesty, rest assured, the Demon King of Black Wind is devoted to Buddhism and has achieved the level of Tai Yi by following an unorthodox path; he will surely be able to stop Lu Bu’s western army."

Upon hearing this, Jia Ye was once again surprised, Tai Yi fruition?

An unorthodox Tai Yi level was comparable to a Daluo Golden Immortal of the orthodox celestial hierarchy. What was the background of this Demon King at Black Wind Mountain that had not been previously known?

He had long known about a monastery on the border between East and West where Guanyin once sought enlightennt, but he had never thought that near the monastery, there lurked a demon of the Tai Yi Golden Immortal level.

Typically, it was unthinkable for a demon to dwell near a Buddhist monastery as they would have been converted and taken refuge in Buddhism.

Jia Ye looked at Guanyin again with so speculation in his mind.

...

In Chang’an City, in the Ancestral Martial Palace.

Sun Wukong, Liu Xiu, and Ao Lie were also monitoring the western advance of the front lines, with a precious mirror suspended before them displaying the scenery of Black Wind Mountain.

Ao Lie had not attended the recent cabinet expansion eting of the Han, so he was unaware of the existence of a Demon King at Black Wind Mountain comparable to Daluo.

He asked, "Master, what is the origin of this Black Bear Spirit?"

To know, Demon Kings like the Bull Demon King, the pinnacle of the demonic world, were also at the Daluo Golden Immortal level.

Moreover, although the Bull Demon King was a loose cultivator, he had friends all over the world, and the Bull tribe had ancient lineage.

When the Eye of the North Sea was sealed long ago, an ancestor of the Bull tribe had even sacrificed himself in a ritual, contributing to the heavens and earth.

Such credentials were necessary for the Bull Demon King’s esteed status today.

Yet from the relatively obscure Black Wind Mountain, a Demon King of equal strength to Daluo had suddenly appeared, surely no simple matter!
