Journey to the West: Sun Wukong's Advice System Chapter 25: Chaos in the Underworld
On the bank of Hell, inside the Cuiyun Palace.
"Tell , what is the reason?" Ksitigarbha inquired.
"Bodhisattva," Nether King Qin Guang respectfully said, "the matter dates back to so ti ago when a pillar reached through the eighteen layers of Hell. Bodhisattva commanded to investigate this matter,
I eventually traced it to the Monkey King Sun Wukong from the Flower-Fruit Mountain, discovering that he is a powerful Daluo Golden Immortal,
Not only was he capable of suppressing the Demon King Bull King and the Jiao Demon King among the six demon kings of the Demon Realm, but he was also an extrely cruel Demon King,
When he went to borrow weapons from the Sea Dragon King’s palace, just because the Sea Dragon King slightly resisted, he destroyed the palace, killed and injured countless mbers of the dragon and sea tribes, and even stole the treasure that the Sea Dragon race had accumulated for many years."
"Goodness, so he is one to bully the weak," Ksitigarbha said with a compassionate expression.
"This is indeed the case," Nether King Qin Guang still knelt there, "Due to this demon’s lack of notoriety, I investigated further and to my surprise found his na still in the Book of Life and Death, and it just so happened that his lifespan had ended.
Therefore, at that ti, I lost my mind, thinking to use the matter of soul reaping to fra King Yama, in order to eliminate this longstanding enemy.
But unexpectedly, this cruel acting Monkey King did not kill those two ghost ssengers and instead deliberately set a trap to calculate against .
Thanks to the Bodhisattva’s rescue, otherwise, I would have fallen into the cycle of reincarnation today."
"You are too obsessed," Ksitigarbha reprimanded, "only focused on fighting for power and scheming, even now, do you still not understand?"
"Please punish , Bodhisattva," Nether King Qin Guang knocked his head on the ground.
"Get up," Ksitigarbha suddenly shifted his tone.
Nether King Qin Guang got up, puzzled.
"You are guilty, but you have also established great rit," Ksitigarbha explained. "This Monkey King Sun Wukong is full of uncertainties; he must be the person whom the Buddha is looking for to promote Buddhism."
Nether King Qin Guang suddenly beca overjoyed. This was truly an unexpected joy!
"The only trouble is, how does he know the incarnation of Lady Pingxin?" Ksitigarbha pondered for a mont, then said solemnly, "Find another opportunity to send soone to infiltrate the Water Curtain Cave in Flower-Fruit Mountain and investigate thoroughly."
"Yes!" Nether King Qin Guang accepted the command and left.
But before he could leave Cuiyun Palace, the situation suddenly changed. A towering evil Qi burst in the skies above the Netherworld, reaching this place.
Both Ksitigarbha and Nether King Qin Guang’s expressions changed.
...
anwhile, Sun Wukong left with ng Po.
Although his heart was not content, he did not choose to make a big fuss, following the suggestions of the netizens whom he considered seniors.
After cooling down a bit, he beca curious about the internal problems of the Netherworld.
"Granny, how big is the grudge between Qin Guang Wang and King Yama?" Wukong asked, "To plot against King Yama, he even dared to hook my soul."
"A narrow-minded person who craves power, what else is there to say?" ng Po shook her head.
"Then Wukong will go back and ask Qin Guang and King Yama," Sun Wukong turned around.
"Co back!" ng Po halted him, "Forget it, this old woman will gossip for once."
She then recounted the grudge between Qin Guang Wang and King Yama in detail.
Wukong listened attentively and found it quite intriguing.
It turned out that when the Netherworld was first established, Qin Guang Wang and King Yama competed for the position of Lord of the Netherworld for many years until Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva promoted Qin Guang Wang to the position.
Since then, King Yama has been suppressed, and his rank among the Netherworld Kings was downgraded from the first hall to the fifth hall.
"With such a temperant, he can still be a Lord of the Netherworld?" Sun Wukong looked down on such people, "Then this Ksitigarbha King is blind, not a good bird either."
"One cannot judge solely based on the surface, he has his own calculations," ng Po said, "Even a person with a narrow mind has his uses.
"Oh," Sun Wukong scratched his face, understanding ng Po’s aning.
Just as one of the senior netizens said, this is soone who does the dirty work!
"Granny, Wukong has always been puzzled," Sun Wukong suddenly asked, "why are you and the woodcutter brother living in seclusion at the base of the mountain?"
"When the ti cos, you will naturally know," ng Po smiled.
"How boring, how boring, Wukong is leaving," Sun Wukong waved his hand and strode away from the Netherworld.
"Rember, you must not do bad things," ng Po cautioned from afar, her voice echoing in Sun Wukong’s ears.
Afterward, she resud her trembling state, standing by the bridge of forgetfulness, pouring a bowl of ng Po’s soup for passing souls.
She didn’t know how long it had been when she suddenly frowned and looked up to the dim sky over the underground world.
Boom!
Suddenly, a massive shadow of a staff, carrying an overwhelming evil Qi, swept in from afar, overwhelming the netherworld with its majestic aura.
And the source of the evil Qi turned out to be a figure wearing a golden crown and golden armor, none other than the recently departed Monkey King Sun Wukong, wasn’t it?
"A netherworld like this, utterly without justice, what use is there in keeping it?" Sun Wukong sneered as the staff’s shadow crashed down, smashing the first hall to smithereens and causing countless casualties among the ghostly soldiers and demons.
Another strike, and the second hall was gone too...
As the massive shadow of the staff swept through, the netherworld plunged into chaos. Spirits and ghostly soldiers wailed in agony, scattering in all directions, countless swept away by the staff’s shadow.
ng Po couldn’t bear it and her cane stirred slightly, but in the end, she restrained herself from taking action.
However, her expression soon changed as she saw a dark shadow hiding within the staff’s shadow, heading straight for the six paths of reincarnation.
"Hiding for so long, you finally couldn’t resist anymore?"
Whoosh!
With a tap of her cane on the ground, a surge of grey mist erupted, shrouding the entire netherworld. That terrifying yet gentle aura instantly overpowered everything.
When everything settled down, whether it was Sun Wukong or that dark shadow, both had disappeared without a trace.
"What a pity," ng Po shook her head gently, yet she wasn’t disappointed because she hadn’t held out much hope with her intervention.
...
Erald Cloud Palace.
Seeing Sun Wukong suddenly wreak havoc in the netherworld, Nether King Qin Guang could not conceal his delight, as this distraction ant no one would focus on the error made in soul reaping.
At the sa ti, he was also puzzled, "Bodhisattva, why didn’t you take action just now?"
"Amitabha Buddha." Ksitigarbha did not answer. After a mont of lowered gaze, he suddenly took out two scrolls, his fingertips glowing with golden light, rapidly writing on the scrolls before handing them both to Nether King Qin Guang.
"Take these two statents to the Celestial Court to see the Jade Emperor," he instructed.
Nether King Qin Guang was confused. The first scroll read, "The ten halls of the netherworld govern punishnt in the mortal realm and must administer justice,
Today, Nether King Qin Guang wrongly reaped the soul of Sun Wukong, the Demon Monkey born of the Water Curtain Cave in Flower Fruit Mountain. Although there were errors in the Book of Life and Death, his responsibility cannot be escaped,
I implore the Jade Emperor to relieve Qin Guang of his position as Nether King."
The second scroll read, "The netherworld realm is Earth’s shadowy court; as Heaven has divinity, so Earth has ghosts, in endless cycles of Yin and Yang... This is the natural order, not to be disturbed.
Today, Sun Wukong, the Demon Monkey born of the Water Curtain Cave in Flower Fruit Mountain, out of montary resentnt, showed off his strength and caused chaos in the netherworld, disrupting the balance of Yin and Yang, almost destroying the land of reincarnation, resulting in countless deaths and injuries among ghosts and souls.
I hereby submit a petition, having defied the will of Heaven, and humbly request the dispatch of Divine Troops to subdue this Demon, restore order to Yin and Yang, and secure the netherworld’s eternal peace."
"Bodhisattva, what does this an?" Nether King Qin Guang was at a loss.
Sun Wukong had already caused turmoil in the netherworld, why then did he have to renounce his position as Nether King?
Besides, why not directly subdue the rampaging Sun Wukong earlier, only to report to the Celestial Court afterward, asking the Jade Emperor to send troops?
"No need to ask further, just go," Ksitigarbha said with an authoritative expression.
"Yes," Nether King Qin Guang, though reluctant, dared not disobey and imdiately left the Erald Cloud Palace for the Celestial Court.
After he had left, Ksitigarbha’s lips suddenly bled a golden-tinged blood.
Spurt!
Then, no longer able to hold back, he spat out blood profusely.
"Amitabha Buddha, my sins, my sins," he muttered.
A monk cannot lie, yet today he had broken the Five Precepts, his Buddhist heart shaken, fearing enlightennt would now be unattainable.
"This is an opportunity bestowed by Heaven, as long as the Buddhist Law flourishes, alleviating the sufferings of the world, then all will have been worth it."
