283: Chapter 284 Monster Is Coming 283: Chapter 284 Monster Is Coming “Are you planning to confront Buddhism?”

The Six-Eared Macaque looked at Wang Yang and slowly began to speak.

“That’s right, we intend to confront Buddhism!”

Wang Yang did not deny, and continued, “You should understand your current predicant.

If you are unwilling to join, then find a place to hide well!”

“Hide?”

The Six-Eared Macaque murmured to himself.

He naturally understood that having been defeated, he had beco a stain on Buddhism, which seeks to save all beings.

How could they readily leave a stain intact?

If Buddhism discovered that he was still alive, it would likely beco a reason for them to eliminate him.

He naturally understood that now it seed he had only one path ahead.

And this man appeared to be the one who had taught Sun Wukong.

He had heard about Sun Wukong at the Two Saints of the West, firmly believing that Sun Wukong’s strength was only that of the Taiyi Golden Immortal level.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been defeated so miserably.

If he could beco this man’s disciple, perhaps he would have a chance to catch up to Sun Wukong in the future!

“I am willing to beco your disciple and hope you can teach !”

The Six-Eared Macaque was not foolish.

Whether it was Buddhism or his wish to catch up with Sun Wukong, there was only this one path to take!

Wang Yang saw this scene and slowly nodded in response.

anwhile, the Journey to the West travelers stood before Tongtian River, sowhat helpless.

The river was so wide, how could they cross, especially now that it was already night.

“Master, listen!”

Just then, Zhu Bajie seed to have heard sothing.

All four travelers from the Journey to the West couldn’t help but perk up their ears to listen, and indeed, they seed to hear sothing.

They could hear the sound of gongs and drums.

“It doesn’t sound like Daoist music.

It must be monks doing sothing.

Let’s hurry over and see!”

Sure enough, after walking a short distance, they saw a village ahead, ho to four or five hundred families, evidently well-off and situated by a mountain alongside a river.

Cottage doors concealed firesides, while bamboo courtyards were enclosed.

This place was none other than Chen Family Village by Tongtian River.

The people here seed busy with sothing, their lights glowing brightly, as if hosting so event.

Zhu Bajie grabbed a passerby and directly asked, “Young man, what are you doing here?”

The man turned pale as a pig head grabbed hold of him.

Struggling, he opened his mouth wide and shouted, “A pig demon!

A pig demon!

Let go!”

Zhu Bajie’s face was expressionless as he could only release the man.

The man fled without stopping for a second.

Xuanzang said, “These are simple and unsophisticated villagers; you’re likely to scare them!”

Indeed, with their fearso appearances, there were few who would not be frightened.

Zhu Bajie initially thought he did not look frightening, but seeing the reaction of the man from before, he could only shrug helplessly, his heart filling with even more resentnt towards the Celestial Court and the Western Direction.

Back when he was Marshal Tianpeng, with a handso and dashing appearance, who would have mistaken him for a pig demon?

After a while, they found a household by the roadside.

The residents had hoisted a banner in front of their door, with candlelight shining from within.

“I will go ask for shelter.

Disciples, stay back for now.

If they’re willing to host us, I will call for you, but if they’re not, don’t say anything further!”

Xuanzang said.

Sun Wukong and the others naturally understood.

If they frightened the people here, they would probably have to spend yet another night outdoors without a good place to rest.

“The master is right, go ahead, and we’ll wait here!”

Xuanzang nodded in agreent, then took off his hat, revealing his shaved head, shook his robe, and, holding the monk’s staff, walked over.

He saw the door was half-open, but he did not enter, choosing instead to wait outside the doorway.

After a while, an old man arrived, his neck adorned with prayer beads, still reciting “Amitabha Buddha.”

He intended to close the door but was startled to find a high monk standing at his threshold.

Xuanzang quickly brought his hands together and said, “Old benefactor, my apologies for the intrusion!”

Hearing Xuanzang’s words,

The elder shook his head, replying, “Monk, you’ve co a step too late!”

Xuanzang, surprised, asked, “What do you an?”

The elder sighed, “If only you had co earlier, you would have had enough to eat—three liters of cooked rice, a section of white cloth, ten copper coins.

“Why have you co at this ti?

If only you had arrived sooner!”

Xuanzang, upon hearing how polite the old benefactor was, hastily bowed and said, “Old Benefactor, this poor monk did not co to beg for vegetarian als; arriving a bit later would not matter.”

The elder was sowhat surprised and asked, “If you, monk, did not co to beg for vegetarian als, then for what purpose have you co here?”

Xuanzang put his palms together and chanted “Amitabha Buddha” before he spoke, “This poor monk is from the Great Tang of the Eastern Land on a pilgrimage to the Western Heaven to worship Buddha and seek scriptures.

If it is not a bother, since it is already late and hearing the sound of drums nearby, I specially ca to request a night’s lodging.

I will depart as soon as dawn breaks.”

When the old man heard Xuanzang’s words, he couldn’t help being surprised and then shook his head, saying, “Monk, you should not speak falsely.

It is at least fifty-four thousand miles from your Great Tang of the Eastern Land to our place.

How could you, alone, have traveled this far?

Do not speak nonsense!”

Upon hearing this, Xuanzang didn’t expect the old benefactor indeed had so knowledge and then said, “What the Old Benefactor says is true; however, I have three young disciples.

We cleave mountains to open paths and build bridges to cross waters; they have protected all the way here.”

The elder was astonished, not expecting the chubby monk to have disciples, and imdiately asked, “Since you have disciples, why did they not co with you?”

“There is still room for you to rest in my ho; co on in!”

Upon hearing these words, Xuanzang’s face lit up with joy, and he turned back and called out, “Wukong, co over.

The Old Benefactor is willing to let us stay the night.”

At these words, Sun Wukong and the others were already growing anxious.

The three of them did not hesitate, hurrying as they led horses and shouldered their loads.

Like a gust of wind, they rushed into the family estate.

However, the elder, who had been calm at first, turned pale upon seeing Sun Wukong and the others, almost falling to the ground with fright.

He even muttered to himself, “Monsters have co, monsters have co!”

Seeing this, Xuanzang quickly steadied the elder and said, “Benefactor, do not fear, they are not monsters, they are my disciples, my disciples!”

The elder looked over Sun Wukong and the others’ retreating backs and said with trepidation, “How can you, such a handso master, have such ugly disciples!”

Xuanzang couldn’t help but laugh and shook his head, saying, “Although my disciples are not pleasing to the eye, they are capable of subduing dragons and tigers, capturing monsters and demons!”

The elder still didn’t quite believe it, but now, supported by Xuanzang, he started slowly walking toward the room.

By the ti Sun Wukong and his two companions entered the host’s main hall, they tied up the horses and dropped their baggage.

Then they saw several monks reciting scriptures.

Zhu Bajie, upon seeing this scene, beca curious and asked with a pouted long snout, “That monk, what scripture are you reciting?”

They often heard Xuanzang reciting scriptures and knew so of the texts; perhaps they recognized so of the scriptures these monks were chanting.

After hearing Zhu Bajie’s question, one of the monks turned around and saw the newcors, with their large mouths and ears, broad backs and thick arms, and voices that bood like muffled thunder.

As for Sun Wukong and Sand Monk, their appearance was even more hideously ugly.

All the monks in the hall turned pale with fright.

They imdiately fell to the ground, no longer caring about the Buddha statue and various objects they brought, and were in utter disarray.

Seeing them stumble and even lie sprawled on the ground without dignity, Sun Wukong and the others couldn’t help but shake their heads with a laugh.

The monks, witnessing this scene, beca even more terrified.

After all, who wouldn’t be afraid of monsters grinning wickedly in front of them?

Monsters are known to eat people.

At this mont, they didn’t care about anything else and hurriedly ran out of the hall.

Xuanzang entered with the elder and saw the monks quickly fleeing and the lights inside vanishing.

Only Sun Wukong and his companions remained, laughing and frolicking inside, lively and boisterous.

Xuanzang imdiately understood what had just happened.

“Wukong, how many tis have I said to be friendly when eting people and not to scare them?

Now you have frightened the Old Benefactor and even scared away the monks who were chanting, ssing up everything.

What should we do now?”

Xuanzang felt helpless; they were in need and now they had disrupted the benefactor’s affairs.

If they were turned away, wouldn’t they end up on the streets?

Where would they sleep then?

Upon hearing Xuanzang’s words, Sun Wukong and the others also felt depressed.

They hadn’t done anything yet these chanting monks had already been terrified.

There was nothing they could do!

The elder, after listening to Xuanzang, saw that the three peculiar-looking monks lowered their heads, not daring to speak, and then believed that they were indeed Xuanzang’s disciples.

“It’s all right, it’s all right.

The religious service has been going until now, the lights are off, and it’s indeed over!”

The elder shook his head and said.

Upon hearing the elder say it was all right, Zhu Bajie heaved a sigh of relief and then said, “Since there’s no trouble and it’s all complete, why not invite us to so vegetarian food, and then we can go to sleep and rest!”

The elder nodded and, not minding Zhu Bajie’s rudeness, called out, “Soone, light the lamps, light the lamps!”

The family, hearing the elder’s command, were puzzled.

With many incense candles still burning in the hall during the chanting, why would soone ask to light the lamps?

Several servants ca out to see, and finding the main hall pitch-dark.

They hastily lit torches and lanterns.

Upon lighting them and looking up, they saw Zhu Bajie and Sand Monk, which scared them so much that they threw down their torches and hurried into the inner gate, shouting, “Monsters have co, monsters have co!”
