Tang Sanzang rubbed his eyes, then tossed down the book in his hand, and picked up another...
The expression on Tang Sanzang’s face grew increasingly strange.
Keep flipping!
Out of the five books, every single one made him feel on the verge of collapse.
Because there was nothing unusual about these family records, except for a problem with the direct lineage!
The direct lineage, to his disbelief, uniformly bore the na—Tang Sanzang!
Tang Sanzang turned to Tang Caiyi and asked, "What’s going on here? You guys… cough cough, didn’t our ancestors know how to pick nas? Why are they all called Tang Sanzang?"
Tang Caiyi shook her head and said, "Dad, who am I supposed to ask if you’re asking ? Isn’t it you who said this is the ancestral rule? No matter how many generations it’s passed through, if it’s a direct male descendant, he’s supposed to be called Tang Sanzang."
Seeing that Tang Caiyi also didn’t know the origin of this na, Tang Sanzang simply continued flipping through the books.
Within the five books, there were many densely packed nas, but Tang Sanzang no longer cared about these people. He just wanted to find the grandfather who first nad his grandson Tang Sanzang!
And as he kept searching, Tang Sanzang indeed found it, and then his face turned dark!
Because the na of that first Tang Sanzang’s biological father was—Chen Gua!
But this wasn’t the point, the point was, written after Chen Gua’s na was a line stating—he was the first high monk of Great Tang, Tang Sanzang, also known as Master Xuanzang!
Tang Sanzang’s mouth twisted with anger, and he couldn’t help but curse, "Well played, Golden Cicada, I only impersonated you for a while, didn’t I? You drag my na through the mud by changing all my descendants’ nas to mine, shaming , and to think you’re a high monk of Buddhism! Pah!"
The more he thought about it, the angrier Tang Sanzang got, and he turned to Caiyi and said, "Where the hell did your family take the ancestors?" Experience more on .Côm
Tang Caiyi said with a face full of speechlessness, "Dad, have you lost your mory, or have you gone dumb? Our ancestor has been gone for who knows how many years, long turned to ash, and has been worshipped in the ancestral hall for many years."
Tang Sanzang was stunned, "Dead?"
Tang Caiyi said, "Of course dead, who could live that many years?"
Tang Sanzang was dumbfounded; he had personally witnessed Tang Sanzang ascend Mount Ling and beco a disciple of Buddha, achieving the rank of Buddha himself.
The lifespan of a Buddha might be limited due to insufficient strength, but his status was there. Eating a few peaches from the immortal groves every year could extend one’s life, granting immortality. If one were to study and practice diligently, attaining eternal life wouldn’t be too difficult.
So, a Buddha had died… This was a bit peculiar.
At the very least, Tang Sanzang didn’t believe it!
"Could it be that he was afraid I’d find him and beat him up, so he pretended to be dead?" Tang Sanzang muttered in his heart.
Tang Caiyi noticed Tang Sanzang’s skepticism, and so she pointed to the sacred bamboo house and said, "This is our family’s ancestral hall, where the ashes of our ancestors are buried."
Upon closer inspection, Tang Sanzang saw that indeed, there was a small inscription on the sacred bamboo house—South Wind Tang Family Ancestral Hall!
At the sa ti, each piece of sacred bamboo was inscribed with dense small characters, which at a casual glance were nearly invisible.
These small characters were the nas of the descendants of the various Tang Sanzangs throughout the generations, truly treating this wooden house as a grand eternal tomb.
Tang Sanzang reached out to touch the sacred bamboo house, and in an instant, beams of golden light radiated from the house, that familiar Buddhist glow!
Simultaneously, a voice sounded, "Amitabha, you… have finally arrived!"
Tang Sanzang looked up sharply, and saw within the bamboo house the figure of Tang Sanzang in kasaya, his face the picture of stately magnificence!
"Is it you?" Tang Sanzang clenched his fist!
Tang Seng quickly shouted, "Don’t swing your fists, listen to !"
Tang Sanzang said, "You’re not dead?"
Tang Seng replied, "I know, you’d definitely ask if I was dead, but in fact, I already am. This is rely a spiritual projection. I knew your temper, and when you learned I had changed all my descendants’ nas to yours, you would surely want to hamr to death. But I believe, at this mont, since I am already gone, there’s no need for you to pound."
Tang Sanzang was dumbfounded. A Buddha, dead?
Really dead?
Tang Seng continued, "Amitabha, monks don’t lie. I swear to the heavens that if I wasn’t dead, I would appear before you. If I don’t appear, then it must an I am dead; otherwise, I’d be annihilated in both form and spirit, never to transcend this world."
Tang Sanzang looked around, no one!
He reached out to grasp and, in fact, his hand went right through Tang Seng’s body, confirming it was indeed just a spiritual projection.
In that mont, Tang Sanzang sighed, his anger dissipating quite a bit, though he still murmured, "If you don’t give a proper explanation, I swear I’ll help you crush your bones and scatter your ashes!"
Tang Seng continued, "Ever since you went to the West, not long after, a being arrived from the west. He was incredibly powerful. His abilities were no different from ours, as if he was soone from our world, yet he seed not to be.
The Buddha went to et him in battle, falling on the mountain in The Wilderness, becoming a reclining Buddha and blocking him for three thousand years.
Later, many Buddhas marched to battle, burning the adversary to death in front of Buddha Mountain.
However, such beings kept coming more and more, the strong and the weak alike, but even the weakest were of Semi-Saint level.
Though I never saw anyone of Saint-level descent, I could feel the subtle changes happening to this world, as if infinite Dao was operating, pushing sothing out...
I searched through the ancient texts, and such an event has only occurred once before.
That was when the Ming River Sect Leader tried to forcibly beco a Saint, invoking heaven and earth’s rejection, and the suppression of thousands of Dao.
I do not know what exactly has happened, whether soone is trying to beco a Saint by force or sothing else.
But I do know, a major event is about to occur in this world!"
After pausing briefly, Tang Seng continued, "Do you rember the feather that Guanyin Bodhisattva gave you? We found another one, and it says that you are the key.
Although we don’t know exactly what kind of key you are, but I found out, when you were here, those things didn’t co. After you left, they showed up, so, you might truly be the key to it.
Therefore, I went to Bamboo Grove to take this house most familiar to you and adopted a child, nad Tang Sanzang, and I set the rule that all direct male descendants would be nad Tang Sanzang.
I believe, knowing your temper, once you find out, no matter how far away, you would rush over to investigate."
"
Tang Sanzang muttered, "Have you ever considered that I might dig up your ancestral grave?"
Tang Seng continued, "The great catastrophe of heaven and earth is about to descend. I might die, or I might live. This is the ssage I’m leaving for you, hoping you can receive it. Lastly..."
Tang Seng grinned and said, "You impersonated for so long, playing my countless generations of grandsons isn’t too much, right? Hahaha... Yes, I did it on purpose! Just thinking about the scene you’d see here, it’s so damn satisfying!"
Tang Sanzang’s expression gradually turned ferocious, "Damn it, he really did it on purpose!"
But in the next mont, Tang Seng started laughing, and then he burst into tears, saying with a sad face, "Those terrifying beings have appeared in all directions, five out of the Seven Great Saints of the Demon Race died in battle, the Heavens were shattered in half, the earth broken, all life withering... Baldy, where the hell are you? Don’t you hate it the most when people call you bald? I’m insulting you now, so you’d better hurry up and roll back here!"
