Ash’s family lived in a luxurious apartnt—the sa one they had visited during the pool party.

But that wasn’t where Sky found him.

After so effort, he tracked Ash down to another apartnt. It wasn’t as large, but it still reeked of wealth, the kind that dripped from every polished surface and designer furnishing.

The guy who answered the door looked vaguely familiar—one of the many people Ash kept around, people who ca and went like interchangeable pieces of his reckless, ssy life. Sky didn’t acknowledge him. His business wasn’t with so random hanger-on. It was with Ash.

The guy must have known it too because he didn’t ask questions, just jerked his head toward the wide glass doors at the end of the dining area. Beyond them was a pool, shimring under the evening lights.

Sky barely registered how rude he was being as he brushed past and walked straight outside.

And there he was.

Ash.

In the pool. With a girl.

They were tangled together, bodies pressed close, hands roaming. His grip on her was firm, fingers digging into her boobs like he wanted to mark her. She let out a breathy laugh, unaware of the storm brewing just a few feet away.

For a split second, Sky considered turning around and walking away. He wasn’t in the mood for Ash’s nonsense. But he had co this far.

"Ash."

His voice cut through the humid air like a blade.

Ash froze mid-kiss, like he had just been doused in ice water. He pulled back slightly, blinking like he wasn’t sure if he had imagined the voice. Then his head snapped toward the source.

The mont he saw Sky, his lips twisted into a smirk. That damn smirk. The one that scread trouble.

"Well, well." He finally let go of the girl, leaning lazily against the edge of the pool like he had all the ti in the world. "Look what the wind blew in."

The girl turned too, blinking at Sky before her face lit up in recognition. "Sato—"

Ash cut her off before she could finish. His voice was sharp, flat. "Get lost."

She blinked, confused. "Wait, what?"

"You heard ," Ash said, his tone bored but carrying an edge. "Out."

Her expression shifted from confusion to offense. "Are... you serious?" She scoffed, glancing at Sky like he was the reason Ash had suddenly turned into an asshole.

"Do I look like I’m joking?" Ash’s voice was clipped, his patience nonexistent.

Sky crossed his arms, unmoved as she let out an outraged scoff. She stomped out of the pool, grabbed her things from a lounge chair, and stord past him, muttering curses under her breath. Ash didn’t spare her a glance.

Sky’s gaze locked onto him, properly taking him in now that he was alone. Water dripped down his bare torso, glistening under the lights. He was only in a pair of briefs, clinging to him in a way that left very little to the imagination considering the position he had been in before Sky interrupted. Not that Sky cared. His eyes moved higher, catching the faint bruise along Ash’s jaw.

Sothing about it made him pleased. But he shoved the feeling down. He wasn’t here for that.

"I need Wilson’s number," Sky said the mont Ash stepped out of the pool.

Ash barely reacted. He simply ran a hand through his wet hair, pushing it back as he gave Sky a lazy look. "Who the hell is Wilson?"

Sky faltered. The confusion on Ash’s face didn’t look fake. His chest tightened. If Ash really didn’t know, then this whole trip was a waste of ti. And the little hope he was clinging to would be dashed. But he wasn’t ready to give up yet.

"Chris’s friend," Sky said, his voice asured. "From your last party."

Ash’s expression shifted, the confusion fading into sothing colder. A scoff left his lips. "And why would I have that?"

Sky kept his voice steady. "You were... close."

Ash let out a bark of laughter, full of mockery. "If I kept the number of every person I made out with, my phone would explode." He tilted his head, his gaze turning razor-sharp. "But I have to ask... why would you co to for anything? Especially for him?"

Sky’s expression hardened. "Don’t play gas, Ash."

"You think I have ti for this?" Ash snapped, voice rising. "You made an effort to find for the first ti in your life, after ignoring for what... months? And it’s not because you finally ca to your senses and wanted to see . No. It’s because of him."

Sky clenched his jaw. "Just tell if you have the number."

"Why the hell would I give it to you if I did?" Ash’s voice was cold now, his posture tense. "You think I want to help you get closer to who you are trying to reach?"

Sky’s jaw tightened. He couldn’t tell if this boy had the number or not. And he was keeping his words vague. He wanted to storm out of there but at the sa ti, he didn’t want to take any chances.

Ash must have seen sothing in his face, sothing desperate, because his expression darkened, anger simring beneath his usual arrogance.

"Tell , how does it feel?" Ash’s voice was sharp, bitter. "Knowing you ran straight to , begging for scraps, because of him?"

"JUST TELL IF YOU HAVE HIS NUMBER!" Sky snapped, his patience gone.

Ash let out a bitter laugh, shaking his head. "God, you really don’t get it, do you?"

Sky exhaled sharply. "I’m not here for whatever ga you think you’re playing, Ash. I just need the damn number."

Ash took a step closer, still dripping wet, his eyes gleaming with sothing dangerous. "You really don’t care about anything else, huh? Not even the fact that I—" He stopped himself, his jaw tightening like he was trying to hold sothing back.

Sky frowned. "What?"
