Chris exhaled slowly, his patience wearing dangerously thin. "So let get this straight," he said, voice calm but laced with quiet anger. "You wanted to help you see how Sky would react to a naked guy? Are you actually insane?"

Ash shrugged, completely unfazed. "Not insane. Just curious. But I don’t need that test anymore. I already know now."

Chris’s fingers curled into fists. "So, what, you’ve been watching him?"

He wondered if he had been the one to take the photo of i and Sky hugging. According to what Sky had told him last night, he had eventually tutored the senior who was trying to blackmail him with that.

Those had all added to his stress during the exam ti. Especially when the idiot wouldn’t stop flirting with him.

"Not Sky," Ash corrected, his eyes locking onto Chris’s. "I’ve been watching you." He leaned forward, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I sent the photo of you and that girl at the library to Sky, you know. Wasn’t hard to get it from her."

"I know," Chris said, his voice tight. "And I let you off the hook because Sky asked to."

Ash scoffed. "Almost touching. Your little love story." He straightened, his eyes hardening once again. "I’m the type to go after what I want, Chris. And I’ve decided to stop playing gas. I don’t care what kind of twisted, secret thing you and Sky have going on. I want him. And I’m telling you this now."

Ash paused, his gaze unwavering. "If you care about Sky, you’ll give up. Move out. I’ll even get you a nice apartnt." He smiled, a chillingly empty expression. "Otherwise, I’ll resort to my initial plan. A few well-placed whispers, a few carefully chosen words... Sky will have no choice but to break things off with you. And when he does..." He grinned, leaning back smugly. "I’ll swoop in and handle everything."

This guy is a fucking idiot.

Ash tapped his fingers against the table. "In the end, the one who loses... is you."

Chris had lost his patience.

He pushed back his chair and stood up, towering over Ash. He walked towards him like he was going to walk past him but then he stopped beside him and reached out, placing a firm hand on Ash’s shoulder.

"I’ve let you off the hook before, Ash," he said, his voice low and dangerous. "Don’t push it."

Ash t his gaze. Both glaring at each other now.

"Try to win Sky over if you dare," Chris continued, his eyes burning into Ash’s. "But you won’t. You won’t win against . And if you sohow manage to steal him away, by any foul ans necessary, I swear to you, I will kill you. And I will get Sky back."

"Are you... threatening ?" Ash asked, his voice laced with mocking amusent. "Do you not already know what I can do? You think the Dean would miraculously save you again if I decide to push this with my father?"

Chris tilted his head, his smile slow and dangerous. "You keep throwing around your father’s na like a shield. But tell , Ash..." His grip tightened just a little more.

"Do you want to try and see what would happen if I also got my father involved?"

Chris leaned in slightly, his voice dropping to a whisper. "And do you really want to know what I can do?"

He gave Ash’s shoulder a final squeeze before stepping back.

Without another word, he turned and walked away, leaving Ash sitting there, gripping the table just a little too tightly.

Chris simply smiled, a cold, predatory smile

It was funny to hear both guys fight for a boy, and even threatening to get their fathers involved. If soone else was listening to them, they would have found them both insane.

Maybe they were.

As soon as Chris stepped out of the café, a nagging feeling crept up his spine. Sothing wasn’t right.

Then he rembered—his phone had been buzzing earlier.

He pulled it out of his pocket.

10 missed calls.

All from Wilson.

A strange unease settled in his chest as he stared at the screen. Wilson never called him this many tis unless it was sothing serious. His pulse quickened.

Just as he was about to return the call, his phone vibrated again—Wilson.

Chris answered imdiately. "Wilson—?"

"Chris, where the fuck have you been!? Have you seen the news?" Wilson’s voice was frantic, breathless.

Chris’s body went cold. His grip on the phone tightened. "What?"

"Your father—" Wilson’s voice wavered. "He collapsed. During the general stakeholder eting."

Chris stopped walking. His heart slamd against his ribs, then seed to stop altogether.

He felt a sickening lurch in his gut, a wave of nausea washing over him. He forced himself to speak, his voice barely a whisper. "Is he... is he okay?"

He fumbled with his phone, his fingers trembling as he tried to pull up the news. And there it was. The headlines scread at him: Business Tycoon Collapses at eting. Images of the chaotic scene flashed across the screen, a blur of panicked faces and flashing lights.

All over every news outlet.

Pictures. Videos. His father being carried out on a stretcher.

Chris swallowed hard. His legs felt unsteady.

Wilson exhaled shakily on the other end. "I don’t know, Chris. I don’t have details yet. But I am on my way to the hospital to et your mother."

"I’m coming ho," Chris said, his voice low and determined. "Imdiately."

"I figured you’d say that," Wilson said quickly. "I checked for flights, but everything’s fully booked because of the holiday season."

"Then I’ll go private," Chris said, his voice sharp, the words clipped and urgent. There was no room for argunt.

A pause. Then Wilson understood. He ant using a helicopter.

"Okay. I’ll ring your ho and let them know imdiately."

"I’ll also call them," Chris said in a shaky voice.

Then the line went dead.
