They swayed side by side, but Chris was putting as much effort as a one-year old during a recital.

Chris exhaled sharply. "Are you drunk?"

"Nah." Sinclair shrugged, clearly unbothered. "A little tipsy, maybe, but I handle my alcohol well. Gotta be on the lookout, you know."

"Lookout for pretty boys?" Chris teased.

Sinclair’s grin widened. "Not the pretty boys yet," he said in amusent. "Trouble, mostly." He leaned in to be heard over the music. "Why aren’t you drinking much?"

Chris shrugged. "I like to stay sober, especially when I bring a friend along."

Sinclair chuckled. "Such a responsible man. Good friend material."

"I try," Chris deadpanned, suppressing a smile.

Sinclair’s eyes glimred with even more amusent as he asked, "So, what’s it like living with Sato?"

Can he just stay for one good minute without either his head, heart, or soone ntioning Sky to him?

Chris paused. "Not bad."

"Not bad?" Sinclair tilted his head. "Shouldn’t you be more excited? You’re living with the king of the school, man! Sky Sato of the universe!"

Chris side-eyed him curiously. Why does that sound suspicious?

"Do you have a thing for Sky?"

Perhaps Sinclair was trying to use him to get through to Sky or get info about him?

Sinclair looked genuinely stunned by the question before he burst into laughter. "What? No! Why would you even think that?"

Chris shrugged, his expression deadpan. "You seem... particularly interested in him."

Sinclair wiped a pretend tear of laughter. "Sky’s beautiful, sure, but not my type." He gave Chris a teasing look. "Do you have a girlfriend... or boyfriend?"

Chris raised a brow. "Why? You interested?"

Sinclair’s grin turned devilish as he leaned in even closer to whisper. "Depending on your answer, I might consider it."

Chris smirked faintly. "Sorry to disappoint, but I’m taken."

Sinclair tilted his head. "Does that an I won’t be getting a kiss from you tonight?" He pouted.

He looked absurd. Cute but absurd.

Chris shot him a flat look. "Is that why you invited ? For my body?"

Sinclair cackled. He laughed so hard that Chris had no choice but to chuckle at his contagious laughter.

"You seem like fun, Chris-to-pher. Very fun." He leaned in, his voice playful. "What kind of guys do you like?"

Chris narrowed his eyes. "Why do you even assu I’m into guys?"

Sinclair tapped his temple. "I have a pretty good sense. My gaydar is usually spot on. And when I first saw you? It started blaring. Pom pom pom."

Chris scoffed. "Your radar may be broken."

Sinclair grinned slyly. "Maybe. But the way your eyes lingered on when we first t—pretty telling."

"My eyes didn’t linger," Chris shot back, though he couldn’t hide his amusent.

Sinclair grinned wider. "They did. And hey, no sha in it. I’m hot."

Chris shook his head, chuckling despite himself. He was hot, no doubt. Maybe he would have been interested. But right now, he only had one person in mind. And for so reason, he felt like he was cheating on him just by dancing, or rather, swaying with this guy.

Sinclair suddenly lifted a hand in a casual wave to soone ahead. "Well well, here cos the roommate," Sinclair said.

Chris followed Sinclair’s line of sight, and his breath caught when he saw Sky.

It looked like he had been watching. But for how long, Chris could not tell.

With Sinclair waving him over, he began to approach them. His intense gaze cut through the party, dark and unreadable. Chris’s pulse spiked. Why did he suddenly feel the intense urge to shove Sinclair away from him?

FUCK HIM!

Sky’s facial expression morphed into a warm, easy smile when he reached them, clapping hands with Sinclair in a smooth, practiced way that hinted at familiarity. He didn’t look at Chris.

"I thought you weren’t going to make it," Sinclair said, grinning.

He looked genuinely happy to see him.

Sky shrugged. "Yeah, I was out of town. Just got back this evening and thought to drop by with my friends." He glanced around at the pulsating crowd, the music vibrating through the walls. "Nice party."

"As usual," Sinclair said smugly before turning to Chris. "Well, I guess there’s no need to introduce you two. You’re already roommates." He chuckled.

Sky gave a polite nod, but his eyes flickered with sothing unreadable.

Sinclair looked behind him quickly before turning to Chris. "Gotta go for now and make sure no one’s getting freaky in my parents’ bedroom." He chuckled and gave Chris a playful nudge before disappearing into the crowd, clapping hands with Sky one more ti.

Chris noticed it. The ’smile’ Sky kept giving Sinclair. It was as genuine as the P in psychology.

There was just sothing crazy about the look he had in his eyes as they followed Sinclair’s back until he was out of sight and Sky turned to him.

Chris glared at him. Because from the look Sky was giving him right now, there was a high chance he was going to say sothing stupid that may lead to a fight.

He was not ready for that.

Sky was not permitted to be jealous unless he gave him sothing in return.

And right now, he could see the jealousy and anger threatening to blow up, but Sky was trying to suppress it.

Thankfully, Henry appeared out of nowhere, draping a hand over Sky’s shoulder and saving the awkward silence and tension. "Hey, did Sinclair invite you?" Henry asked Chris, raising his brow skeptically.

That felt like an interrogation.

"Why would I be here if I wasn’t invited?" Chris asked him.

Henry sipped his beer with a straw, unfazed. "I dunno. Just wondering." His voice was casual, but his eyes glead with intrigue. "You close with Sinclair or sothing? Saw you two dancing earlier. Getting chummy chummy."

Chris gave him a withering look, choosing not to dignify the question with a response. He simply turned on his heel and walked away, ignoring both Henry and Sky entirely.

But Chris was able to notice a strange exchange between the friends through the corner of his eyes.

Henry removed his hand draped over Sky’s shoulder to grab his hand while he said sothing.

Sky, on the other hand, pulled his hand away sharply and shot Henry a warning glare. His expression was hard to read, but it was clear sothing was simring beneath the surface.

Henry pulled back and then said sothing to Sky before he walked away.
