Chris looked at Henry beside him, who was driving. He kept making small pointless talks, but he was not buying it. Henry had suddenly offered to drive him back to school when he told the group of friends he was leaving, claiming he had to do sothing there. But Chris could feel there was sothing else there that Henry was not telling him.
"It’s sotis fun to dance honestly, but if it’s sothing you’re not used to, your muscles may ache the following—"
"Would you like to talk about the reason you offered a ride, Henry?" Chris cut him off, finally cutting to the chase and startling Henry a bit, who looked at him nervously before looking back at the road.
"I told you I had sothing to do at the dorm."
"You did. But I can also tell you are nervous around . And last I checked, you’ve passed that stage where I make you... frightened?"
There was a brief pause before Henry let out a laugh.
"Well, that is correct. But you still frighten sotis." He said lightly before looking serious, but then he didn’t say anything imdiately.
Chris didn’t look away from him. His prying eyes remained on the side of Henry’s face as he drove until the guy could not take it anymore and blurted out.
"Do you... I an... you... shit! Why is it so hard to ask?" Henry asked and laughed awkwardly.
"Relax. You can ask whatever you want to ask . Unless it’s about hooking up with you, which I would say no to."
Henry chuckled. "I see... what about Sky, then?"
"What about Sky?" Chris asked.
"You wouldn’t mind hooking up with him, would you?" Henry asked before he spared him a glance and looked back at the road just as they hit the red light, and the car slowed before stopping.
Chris continued to look at him with a piercing gaze until Henry took in a deep breath and turned to lock eyes with Chris.
Chris would not lie; he was a bit taken aback. But then again, he guessed it was only a matter of ti before others knew. I an, it was pretty obvious. Even Ash, whom he only t a few tis, was able to figure it out.
"What gave you that impression?" He asked Henry, who was looking at him now without looking away. It seed like he had finally been able to build the courage.
"Hmm..." He pondered.
The light turned green, and he began to drive again, keeping his gaze ahead.
"I have just been wondering. You seem kinda into him. I don’t think I’m overthinking things."
"Do you like Sky?" Chris asked, frowning slightly. He needed to understand sothing about this.
"You an as more than friends?" Henry asked, confused.
Chris nodded casually and was a bit relieved when Henry began to laugh while shaking his head.
"Of course not! Of course, I do admit he is like the prettiest, sexiest human male I have seen, but he’s like a complete bro to ." He said in a relaxed tone before casually adding, "But I did have a crush one ti a few years ago. Don’t ever tell him that."
Would he bla him for having a crush on Sky? Of course not.
Henry was right. Sky was the prettiest, sexiest human male in existence.
"So why are you suddenly curious about Sky and I?" Chris asked him.
"As his friend, I am worried about him."
Chris noted how he didn’t oppose the idea. He also didn’t ntion that Sky would not be open to the idea.
"You think I am not good for him?" Chris asked. He was curious.
"Chris... I believe you t i."
"And so?"
"He doesn’t hate i like you would hope. Everyone loves i. She also cares a great deal about Sky. They are kinda like perfect for each other."
It left a bitter taste in his mouth. Because Henry was right. They did look perfect together. Unfortunately for everyone, he was bound to break that ship.
"Are you worried about Sky, or you are worried about ?"
"The two of you."
"So there is a possibility you think Sky might like ?" He said, baiting Henry.
Hnery briefly glanced at him and scoffed. "Don’t get your hopes up. The only future Sky knows is with i. And we all respect that."
Bullshit.
They would see.
"Is he in love with her?"
"I don’t think that is any of our business."
"But you think ’this’ is your business?" Chris reminded him, "You raised this conversation."
"Why... why do you even like Sky?" He sounded curious.
"I don’t think there’s a reason I should explain myself to you."
"I know. I know. But... don’t complicate things, please." He sounded genuine. Worried.
"If people know you are into Sky, it would be tough for him. In all levels. You won’t understand, but try your best if you care about him." He turned to face Chris again. His eyes were pleading.
Wasn’t it too late for that?
"Then why did you tell to stay away from Gary that day at the cafeteria?"
"Because you are Sky’s roommate. If you are with Gary, people might assu you have sothing going with him, and that assus your sexuality and puts Sky at risk."
"Please make it make sense, bestie. Everyone knows you are into guys,.yet you are his friend. But I’m the one who would cause Sky trouble?" Chris said logically.
"Yes. Because I’ve been with him for a long ti and you are new. Plus, you’ve already worsen things by making out with Ash—"
"The fuck! I didn’t make out with Ash!" Chris corrected, exasperated, but Henry gave him no space as he continued,
"People are already talking. Look, Chris... I think you are cool. I have no problem with you personally. I like you. But I am worried about Sky. He is very... fragile. He worries all of us. I am begging you."
No.
"What are you begging to do?"
"Sky is very slow with these things, so he might not be aware yet. But if you can, try not to let him suspect it. You’ll put him in a tough spot. And I’m saying this because I know Sky kinda like you. As a friend."
He could not stop the scoff that escaped his lips. "Well, thanks for letting know that he likes ."
"I said as a friend! Also, he is a very lovely person. He loves everyone," Henry continued quickly.
"Yeah, right." Chris tried not to roll his eyes as he turned to the window.
The car was quiet for a short while before Henry sighed heavily.
"You sound like you are going to do the exact opposite of what I said."
Chris didn’t answer to that and just kept his gaze on the window until they arrived at the dorm and hopped out of the car.
"Thanks for the ride." Chris said calmly.
"Yeah, sure. See you when next I see you." Henry waved as they parted ways. Although he looked like he wanted to say more, Chris didn’t wait to listen. He didn’t want any further information to correct the file of ideas he already had in his head.
i was lovely. But she had to go.
It was already late evening. Chris kept counting down, wondering if Sky was going to co. He didn’t bother to call him or text him to remind him.
This was important.
Sky’s presence or absence tonight was going to determine how their relationship was going to pan out.
